RailRider
One of the saddest days was the day OpryLand USA was closed to make way for a mall. I have posted on here that Gaylord Entertainment has recently copyrighted OpryLand USA and OpryLand and that they have acquired adjoining lands with the OpryLand Hotel. Well here is some more fuel that OpryLand USA might be coming back to opperation. News Report The link above goes to an article in the Tennesian that Gaylord Entertainment has requested for a commerical zoning for a tourist attraction with their 105 acre property they now own situated next to the hotel. Fingers are crossed folks. Lets see what happens.
mullimann
I was just in nashville over the thanksgiving holiday and there are a lot of things to do there, but since opryland closed its not really a market for teens and younger adults. The hotel is nice and so is the mall, but what is there to do when you have been there before. I think that what ever they build it will be good. I drove by that lot when I got lost looking for my hotel, and thought why is this all empty? I was surprised that it wasn't an outlet mall or something. From what I hear there is some resistance from the residents who live right next to the property, and a church that bought a large parcel of that area to try to keep gaylord from building anouther hotel or something, but the management has now gotten to realize that the amusement park did have good numbers. In other news... I am wondering if the seminole tribe deal to buy the hard rock brand will affect the hard rock park currently being developed in myrtle beach? PKIVortex
That would be nice if that's what there plans are. I loved Opryland USA. It was great fun. It was so sad the last time I was in Nashville, and seeing that mall on the property. But kinda neat how they kept some remnants of the old river rapids ride. The Interpreter
The first time I ever went upside down on a coaster was at Opryland. On the Wabash Cannonball. Man, I miss that place...
RailRider
I thought Chaos was absolutely the best ride there. So cool with all the special effects. Then SixFlags buys the ride and lets it rot in a field at Old Indiana. Just one more reasson I hate them.
The Interpreter
Well, remember, everyone at Six Flags involved with that decision is now gone. Thankfully....
RailRider
Well I will still hold it against them...
The Interpreter
...and that's your privilege, though it makes about as much sense as blaming Cedar Fair for everything that Paramount ever did wrong at Kings Island!
RailRider
Well I dislike SixFlags for other reassons and their parks for the most part havent changed yet. I know it doesnt make a lot of sense, but I find it hard for me to get over my dislike with six flags because of their history for ruining parks. More so than Paramount. Bad taste still in my mouth.
