IJST cars spotted on the Highway

Featured Replies

So, I was driving down 71 South around 115-130 and I spotted a truck with a trailer on the back of it. This was just a standard truck, maybe a Ford or something. Anyways, on the trailer it pulled a couple of IJST cars. Had to make sure I was seeing things right, so I slowed up a bit and sure enough, on the IJST cars plates, you could see an old fading logo. Any one have any ideas where they may have been going?

Are you sure these aren't just regular-sized MINI Cooper convertibles?

OH MY!

Thank you. I think. Do you clean Diet Pepsi off computer monitors?

^Could you have possibly seen the mini coopers that used to sit out in front of the ride, they had paramount logos on their plates.

Wow Interesting thanks for the report cewldre, I wonder if maybe they will be only running two trains this year, because I don't think that it would effect capacity that much, or would it?

My first thought as well.

Kings Island must have not wanted anybody to see these cars leaving the area if they had that truck going 115-130 MPH!!! plus what was you doing going that fast? I guess that makes you a coaster fanboy too.

When the crew doesnt have any delays and the guests are behaving :P three train operation works VERY well. Removing one train would signifigantly reduce capacity per hour.

Cedar Fair taking the ride down to 2 trains? I don't see that happening? Who knows what they saw. Too bad we didn't have a pic. LOL :)

no, that was the time frame. 1:15pm or so. Not mph. And no, they were clearly KI ones. They were carried on a trailer behind a truck and the tops were down (as if ours had tops) and it was snowing today. Doubt anyone is going to carry a trailor with a couple of coopers with the top down if the plan on driving or selling them. The KI logo was where the plates on a real car go and the seats were simply metal bars, as if all the padding had been taken off. I am simply wondering where they may have been going. You guys dont have to believe me, but just the same as you, I know a KI thing when I see one.

^Neat, thats great and all but you havent answered what everyones been asking....are you possitive they were rollercoaster trains or where they automobiles?

what are you talking about? YES. In my very first post I said they were indeed IJST cars. They were not simply mini cooper cars or I would not have even bothered posting.

I doubt you could tell (or they might have been removed and kept at the park) but could you see any signs of the LIM fins?

^Yes, you said they were IJST cars but you failed to specify if they were cars for a rollercaoster trains, IJ had one mini cooper with KI plates sitting in front of the ride and at one point had a second one too. Maybe they were just going to get painted or something. The IJ trains are very special and different from regular rollercoaster trains so maybe whatever work is going on can not be done in house....maybe the took them to go finnaly get the audio to work since tech services never seemed to be able to do that.

well, you know, for sure, without a doubt, they were coaster cars... Any idea where they were going? Please, simply answer the question if you know. If you don't say so. I am just wondering. Maybe a paint job? New logo? Any ideas? That's all I want to know.

Okay so lets make it clear here since so many people seem to be confused or want to be jerks. The cars were ROLLER COASTER CARS meaning that cewldre would have been able to tell the difference, I mean give him some credit. He's smart and if he can't tell the difference between a roller coaster car and a real mini then he wouldnt be able to type on this forum.

Yeah I agree, or who knows, maybe the cars won't be mini coopers next year? Anyone think of that? Maybe they are being sent somewhere to be fitted with new shells? I really have no idea, but why would they be taking the trains away?

That is why I figured I would mention it. I only saw two cars on the trailer. Both were a little faded... Hence why I thought paint job, but I didn't know if anyone knew something definitive.

I wasnt criticizing his intelligence, he just wasn't being specific. He kept saying IJ CARS, well ther are cars for the trains on the coaster and there are cars that sit outside the ride on display. He was not specific, I never said he was an idiot or un-intelligent. So before you call me or anyone else a jerk, please read the whole topic.

maybe. do you know if the cars were painted or if they were covered in like a big sticker?

I thought the color of the cars were just fiberglass, and not actually a paint color. I believe all of the detail work on the trains were just stickers though.

^Correct, during the 2005 construction tour Mr. Seibert pointed out that decals would be applied to the cars for the racing stripes and such, the actual fiberglass shells arrived as that color while the paramount logos and racing stripes were seperate decals.

I am thinking it is either paint or a whole covered shell that they would be replacing not a sticker but I am not for sure.

Thanks combat I just always thought that 3 trains were not necessairy since the ride was short. Didn't the ride first open to the public with two trains anyway?

EDIT: whoops combat beat me to it

If some ride's names were to be changed so that they dont reflect Paramount movies, then IJ:ST would be renamed like Car Chase or Road Hazzard, or something cool that the CF folks would come up with. And if mini Cooper doesnt want to sponsor anymore then the Minis could be removed, and have some generic car shell put in there place, that sounds reasonable.

The ride opened with two trains only because there was a fire at the train building factory...to do even that, there was some swapping with Paramount Canada's Wonderland at first.

I can not confirm this yet, but I believe SOB_TOM has been looking for some extra work in he off season and has agreed to replace the sound system during the off season. for KI.

They'd probably call it disaster highway and let the theming rot even worse.

Think new Son of Beast cars!!!!!!!!!!
