Ferris Wheel

Hey. I haven't been to Kings Island since 2001. Then I didn't remeber there being a Ferris Wheel, but I was only there for the roller coasters and such. But this time I'm taking a friend to spend some good time with her. She isn't really into roller coasters and such. Kings Island has alot of other decent ground rides, but I've looked and looked and couldn't find a Ferris Wheel. So I was just wondering if they had one. Thanks for ya'll's (I'm a slight hick) help.

There is no Ferris Wheel at PKI. There used to one at PKI it was called Zodiac it was there from 1975 to 1989 after that it went to Wonderland Sydney that park just closed not to long ago, so who knows it could end back up at PKI, then there was another one, it was called Ferris Wheel it was there from 1982 to 1990 it was in Oktoberfest, some other good flat rides are, Flying Eagles, Monster, Scrambler, Shake Rattle & Roll, White Water Canyon and more.

A ferris wheel is very much part of a traditional amusement park. Personally, I think that PKI should have a ferris wheel and it would be best located in Coney Mall...which is the traditional amusement park area.

Have a great day!

I would like to see a giant wheel or one like they have at Astroland in New York where some of the cars move around. Although, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the Zodiac returned...that ride used to terrify me. Probably still would. Something about that hanging feeling I don't like. You can put me on a 400ft coaster but you'll have to coax me to get on a ferris wheel, a skyline ride, or something like Drop Zone.

I think it would be cool to have a huge ferris wheel in the middle of the Coney Mall!

Why not put it Where FC was at? There is more room their for a big ferris wheel if they take out the baseball game and 3d laser tag game.

has anyone seeen the plans for the new paramount park in japan? i dont ahve time to search for the link right now but its somewhere on coasterbuzz.com. In cluded in the plans for the park was a replica of the paramount logo. A huge themed mountain, and the stars around it were made by a giant ferris wheel with the hub being the peak of the mountain. Drawing looks really cool, i think it would be awesome to see something like this a PKI, but it would have to include a new area and all, since they would have to obvi0usly build a huge mountain... lol

I remember the Ferris Wheel beside the Festaus Building in Oktoberfest that was removed several years back. Personally, I'd love to see a Ferris wheen return to that area of the Park.... Oktoberfest needs some more rides. A Ferris Wheel beside the lake would be just the thing.... now if they could only bring back Der Spinning Keggers too. ;-)

A typical ferris wheel did reside at Kings Island until the early 1990's. It was a standard model that was situated on a plot of land in between the Festhaus and the path to the former Wild Animal Habitat area of the park. If you are only familiar with the modern day PKI.... an Age and Weight game now sits in that area. It is the tree-lined bit of land between the Festhaus and the path to Action Zone in front of Delirium.

An Intamin double wheel, as others mentioned, was located at the rear of the park. It was removed for the addition of Flight Commander and shipped off to Australia's Wonderland Sydney. To my knowledge, Wonderland Sydney was never operated under Paramount ownership. It was built by KECO in the 1980's who formerly ran the King's parks. Because Paramount is not affiliated, I doubt we'll see any rides relocated from Wonderland back to the states.

Also, Intamin Giant Wheels are so outdated that the manufacturer no longer supplies parts for it.... that is why so many are dissapearing from parks across the world and going to the scrap heap.

The only Intamin Giant Wheel still operating (that I know of) is the one located at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania... and from all indications, is being removed after this season.

I liked the Ferris Wheel in the park, yes it was slow but you could relax after you ate some food or went on a spinning ride. Now days I ride the train to relax and sit. I know allot of people what coaster on this site, but don't you think it would be nice to have a ride you could site and relax on. I wish PKI would get a big Ferris Wheel like SFK so you could see the hole park while ridding.
