Just Returned From Cedar Point

I just returned home from what I can honestly say was probably the best time I have ever had at an amusement park, I spent 4 days at Cedar Point. First off, I stayed in my RV at Lighthouse Point next to the Mean Streak. CP really knows how to have a first class campground. The grounds were so manicured I was afraid to walk off the sidewalks, the employees were helpful and friendly, and the amenities are quite abundant. Now if they could just build something like that at Kings Island.

The park was not crowded any of the days I was there except more on Friday. I was totally spoiled by not having to wait long times. The longest wait I had was on Friday for the Magnum since they are still only running one train. The Maverick was up and down every day but I did get to ride it more than 10 times, and I believe as for the elements and the speed it hits after the first drop, it is better than the Flight of Fear, there are so many twists and turns in and out of those rocks, even in daylight you can't tell which way your going next. This is one high class coaster and rates very high for me, especially the second launch. Usually most coasters burn out after a launch have a couple good elements then they slow you down and the excitement fizzles, this coaster never stopped from the first hill to the end you maintained your speed and excitement. Congrats Cedar Point on another world class thrill.

Of course I feel like I wore the Millenium Force out, I quit counting after 20 times, but I could do it over and over and over. My niece rode the Raptor with me for her first time, so of course I had to buy the on board video of us, her face is worth a thousand bucks, but she loved it. Since this was her first time to Cedar Point, she picked out a favorite of hers and I can't tell you how many times she pulled me on it, and that was Wicked Twister, and believe I am a sucker for anything that launches.

This was my first experience though with Top Thrill Dragster, every other time I have been it was always broken down. I have to tell you when they sent me to the Pre stage area , I felt like my heart was going to bust, I was so nervous, because to watch it can be very intimidating, but when I felt that little roll back I knew it was time and BAM there we went, for me that was the most thrilling take off I have ever experienced in my life, I now have a new love in my life, and it is the TTD. The first several times I got off, I ran like a kid to get back on it to do it again.

Hot Summer Nights was good and the show at the Red Garter Saloon was really awesome, what makes a show good is when you see the performers actually having fun with what they are doing, and they were very good at it.

The only complaint I had was while buying Ice Cream on the Frontier Trail, the manager actually got

up in the mans face that was taking my order and started screaming at him about keeping the ice cream maching cleaned, this was very unprofessional, especially since he hadn't finished taking my order, he was so nervous after that he messed my order up badly and I felt really sorry for him, because I for one would never embarrass my employees in front of customers, that is just wrong. I am shocked he didn't tell her off and quit, but he sucked it up and smiled and kept on, those are the type of people managers pick on because they know they need the job and they won't walk out on them.. Kudos to the employee, I actually went to the front office to make a complaint about this and to express how professional the employee acted after taking the beating from the manager.

All in All the Best Time I have ever had At any Amusement Park, and I have been too many many.

As I was reading this, I know exactly how you felt because I had the very same experience. We rode it 3 times this year and I still felt that way when we got off of it. I love TTD, it is one of my favorite coasters.

Only time I got more thrill was the roll back I had two years ago. Unfortunately, TTD does not hold thrill for long.

Great trip report.

Please lets us know how the on- ride video turns out. I have heard nothing but complaints about it.

when I went on Tuesday May 29th, I got on Millenium Force within 10 minutes. I didn't ride TTD though, because when I went to get in line it had just been closed. Magnum had about a 20 to 25 minute wait due to the one train. I also like the MaXair better than Delirium, it spins a bit faster which adds a little.

I have heard MaXair is better, I have heard Delirium is better. I heard Delirium actually has a higher swing. I know they are both the same rides, but I must get to Cedar Point to ride MaXair just so I can judge for myself.

We are considering going to Cedar Point this summer for the first time. Is it possible to ride all the major thrill rides in one day with ease on a weekday?

I would say no. A two-day trip is best if you can manage it. Cedar Point is a very large park and a lot of walking is required to hit all the major coasters and flat rides. Also, there are just so many great rides that I can't imagine fitting them all into one day. Usually it takes me 3 days to hit all the major rides but I also spend about 3 hours a day in the water park and I do multiple rides on Millennium Force, TTD, and Raptor.

If you are REALLY lucky, you could get all of the major rides in on one day. When I went last September with my marching band, we only stayed maybe four hours and I got on all of the major coasters easily except for Millennium Force, TTD, and Wicked Twister. (I could have ridden them, but I was scared  ) The longest I waited was maybe 15 minutes for Gemini, and they were only running one track with I think just one train. Again we got lucky, and it was a Sunday in September.

Sure it is possible. But you have to be rather determined and very focused. You can't get sidetracked by midway games, taking multiple breaks, or eating 4 times during the day.

It also depends on the weekday. If you are planning to go during the first two weeks of July, it would be a challenge due to the 4th being on a Wednesday.

If I were to try to hit all the major rides, I would start at the front of the park and work my way back. You could probably hit Raptor, WT, DT, BS, ID & PT within the first 1.5- 2.0 hrs. you are there since everyone will be heading to Maverick early on & due to Joe Cool.

Maverick would be my last ride. As long as you are in line by 10:00pm, with the exception of a major breakdown, they will get you on the ride.

Which reminds me of a great night at CP. Back in 2000 the wife and I left a wedding in $hitsburgh and decided to hit the Point. We got to CP at about 3:00am Saturday- no reservations but we tried to get a room on the Point. SS was booked, and HB had one room left. When we got to the room, there was a "Do not disturb" sign on the door (yes there were people in the room- I used a hotel phone to call). By this time I was so tired, I just laughed. We went back down to the front desk, and the employee there was rather upset about the whole situation, and since they were doing their purge for end of night, there was no way to tell what rooms were available. Well amazingly enough there was another room left and she told us it would be the same price as the first room we tried. It ended up being the Presidential Suite on the (concierge) 10th floor. 1 king bed, 2 Queen, 2 fold out couches, large dining room table, 2 balconies all overlooking Lake Erie. It was great. Than we woke up Saturday morning and found out that MF was hit twice by lightning the night before and would not operate due to the computer being fried. Well given that, we went back to bed till lunch, and did other things in the park we usually don't do. We went to SC, hit smaller rides, and generally took our time. We were at the Red Garter (beer break) at 10:00pm (park was open till 11:00pm) and noticed that there was all kind of activity on the MF platform. With not much else to do, we jumped in line. Come to find out that a CP exec (Monty Jasper?) flew to Germany and back with the part and the ride actually started operating at about 10:20pm. We rode 3 times in 45 minutes.

The point is, CF will go to extreme measures to make people happy.
