KIfan73
I have a suggestion for an added feature to this great site. I am always reading about people talking about different types of coasters (ex: floorless, different brands of coasters, etc.), and I never know what they're talking about. I thought maybe a guide to the different types of coasters would be neat, to help some of us to be able to read the forums a little more intelligently. padfoot714
I recommend checking out this website www.rcdb.com It is a complete listing of all the rollercoasters in the world. I don't think it is exactly what you are looking for but it certainly is a good reference to use when trying to talk intelligently about coasters. I also find it useful for comparing coasters between parks. I recently used it to help me decide if I should go to Kings Dominion or Carrowinds this summer. Monroe
Just a little tip Pkifan73, just open rcdb in a separate window so when some one mentions something you do not understand you can look it up. They do have a definitions section which is a little too general but you will get the idea if you use it. Also remember on this board you will find those who know what they are talking about, and give you very useful and accurate info, and you will find those who use personal opinion as fact. Just try and ride as many coasters as you can and then take your word for it.
PKIVortex
I agree RCDB is great. They need some pics of Firehawk though up and running, I know they have the testing photos. Most of the RCDB's coaster photos are contributed which I think it pretty cool. They have vintage 1987 Vortex photos on there.
BoddaH1994
I'm not going to lie, half the time you guys refer to a coaster I have to open RCDB to get the scoop on it. haha We've considered making a "KIC Glossary" which (amongst other things) talks about types of coasters. It would mainly refer to abbreviations that we use all the time, but a newcomer would have trouble picking up on (SOB, TRTR, RT, etc). The Interpreter
Hey, all you gots to do is mention RT and I'm excited. What at KI would be RT? Did he perhaps mean TR (as in Trip Report, Tomb Raider?) --The Interpreter, perhaps the only person on this board to whom KK primarily means Kingda Ka...not that place in Louisville with SF in front of it... Monroe
I think he was trying to get you excited with RT and rightfully so. Also when I was working on Kingda Ka before the name was released, we had to call it coaster K. Then after the name was released they said to call it KK and that lasted about an hour because people started to add an extra K. It ended up we had to call it Ka. Also if you want a complete list of abbreviations and definitions, just get a teenager.
