I've Got a Question. I havent' been to an amusement park in 5 years and I'll be going to Kings Island on the 4th of July. I'm 5'9 and weight 268lbs. Will I have any trouble with fitting on any of these roller coasters. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

It depends how big around you are.

You cold be 268 lbs and be solid muscle and fit, but you could be 368 lbs and be nothing but fat

I mean, everyones body is differently porportioned, but my boyfriend is 6'3, and a 40'' waist and he is fine on ALL rides at Kings Island (even IT:ST, which he said has the most comfertable seats and restrants believe it or not), but he is really tall so we have to sit (usually) in the front part of a car when riding a ride.

I mean, Kings Island is pretty good with accomidating everyone, unlike Cedar Point. (MF, TTD).

I'm sure more experianced users can help you more.

I'm 6' 4" and 320 lbs. I have a waist of 46" and wear a 46/34. You'll be more than fine. If you were to have any trouble it would be with Flight of Fear. If you don't want to risk not fitting sit in the back, it has more room.

Just like bparrot said, IJST is truly the most comfortable restraint for big guys. Almost impossible to not fit.

Trust me on all this, I have the exact same problems that you have, or think you will have. You'll be OK. But if worse comes to worse don't be embarrassed to let the ride attendants push on your restraint. Trust me it's the only way for me to get on a few rides. I have to have all three of my KI friends literally hang on my restraint on DZ to get the seat belt to buckle.

Good luck.

I appreciate the help. In Feb, I was 286lbs, so I'm losing weight, not only to feel comfortable riding, but for my health. I work out a lot an things are turning into muscle. Yeah, I know Cedar Point is real strict, so I won't be going there. I just wanted to know if I was waisting money by going to KI and not being able to ride anything. If there are any ladies with my size out there that can give advise to me... let me know as well. Thanks!

I'm a few inches shorter than you at 5'5" but I was 275, maybe more the last time I went to the park a couple years ago. OTSR were fine, but the lap bars took a bit to get closed. Just remember that the lap bar has to click twice when you push it down.

The only rides I've ever had problems on were Beast, Racer and Flight of Fear, everything else has been fine and a lot of the rides have test seats by the entrance so you can check ahead of time.

I'm thinking you should be fine riding anything you want though.

But IJST is suspose to have a weight limit of 300 lbs per rider. I'm a bigger guy myself, and I can ride all the rides at KI.

"supposed to" being the key words. I went on it twice the year it opened and the ride operator checked to make sure the restraint was locked in place both times, but paid no attention to where it was locked. It was as if, as long as it was fairly close to your body, they didn't care where it was.

And do you know how scary that is?

I am willing to bet that 99% of those who frequent this site know how to engage a restraint, as well as see when an operator is not doing their job.

Now put a kid that may be a bit overweight, or a kid that is slightly mentally handicapped, that doesn't know any better about restraints. The potential for an accident is there. Operators like this need to be re-trained.

The operators use judgement as to where the restraint is. First as far as the 300lbs thing goes, the operators arent going to weigh anyone, the restriction is that you must be able to get about 6-7 clicks on the lap bars. Also many people get very upset when you push down on the IJ lapbars because unlike beast and other rides where the go into your legs, IJ's mainly go into people's stomachs. Also IJ doesnt have nearly the amount of G-s and airtime that would cause you to leave your seat as some others do. Not to mention that unlike all the other rides, having the walls be complete after that door closes, getting out is pretty difficult.
