jcgoble3
I found a link to this year's information in a GKTW email newsletter. Home page for the event: http://support.gktw.org/site/PageNavigator/coastingforkids.html KI's registration page: http://support.gktw.org/site/TR?fr_id=1236&pg=entry My donation page: http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1071755&pg=personal&fr_id=1236 Note that this year they are doing the fundraising directly through GKTW's website, rather than using FirstGiving. The system is not as clear as the FirstGiving system was, but hopefully this will get rid of FirstGiving's transaction fees. As far as the itinerary, we're starting at 9:00 am instead of 8:00 am this year. We have Diamondback from 9 to 10, then Red Racer from 10 to 6 (which is an hour later than previous years). We also get a half hour on Banshee starting at 10:30 pm. Shirts appear to be purple this year. I have taken the liberty of creating Team KICentral, so I hope to see you there!
BB1
I'm taking it that it is free to make an account to raise funds, correct? BB1, who may partake in such an event, but, may or may not go for team KIC.
homestar92
This will be my first year doing Coasting for Kids. Is this the URL that I'll want to share? http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1218234&pg=personal&fr_id=1236 I'm taking it that it is free to make an account to raise funds, correct? BB1, who may partake in such an event, but, may or may not go for team KIC. No, there is a $25 registration fee that you must pay. Then, raise another $75 or more and you will be able to participate in the events. Even if you don't qualify for the events, you're supporting a fantastic cause.

BB1, who may partake in such an event, but, may or may not go for team KIC. This is on the very bottom of the page. All participants will be required to pay a $25 registration fee up front and raise a minimum of $75 in order to participate.
homestar92
This may seem like a silly question, but how on earth so I log back in to my account after I leave the page?
BB1
Here is the KICentral Team Page: http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?pg=team&fr_id=1236&team_id=1534 Again, I am interested in participating in this, though, I may, or may not join the Team. sikkinixx99
So what do I do to be part of Team KIC?
homestar92
I already published my link to my Facebook and told all my friends that if they can DOUBLE my goal, I'll sit on a wheel seat all day on The Racer. I hope I for my sake I don't regret that decision. But I hope for the sake of Give Kids the World that I do regret it... So what do I do to be part of Team KIC? When you click the sign up link, there is a button to join a team. Just click that, search for KICentral, and then finish the signup as normal.
Oldschool75
I plan on signing up. Have to come up with the extra $25. I raised my goal to $150 this year.

BB1
Just a few questions before I sign up: -How many people are there for the event usually? -Do you think one can marathon in this event?(Stay in one seat the whole time) -Any trip reports I can look at just to get the gist of previous events-present event?
thedevariouseffect
1. A good bit, but it sadly isn't as big as I think it should be. I mean comon, you pay to marathon coasters and raise money for a good cause, EVERYONE should do this. 2. I only have experience @ CP..I marathoned the hell out of Gemini, should be no different @ KI I would think 3. Same here, I just did a quick search didn't delve into it too much. Just go, pay the money, connect your thrills, and have fun yo
XGatorHead 8904
I was able to marathon pretty hardcore last year. I forget the exact count without switching seats, but it was pretty high. 99 total laps on Racer during Coasting for Kids last year! Hopefully I can participate again this year, it's just too early for me to sign up yet. I don't know if I (or the Gatorettes) will be free that day since a few things are still up in the air.
Oldschool75
The most I did last year was 23 without moving. My total was 52 for The Racer, 10 times for Diamondback. I'm looking to break my personal Racer record. Shooting for 75!

BB1
Well, it looks like a certain BB1 will be marathoning this year for Coasting For Kids.........
homestar92
I do Let's Play videos on YouTube (Basically narrated video walkthroughs of video games). I have a channel with over 1,500 subscribers, so I posted a little video with the link to my Coasting for Kids page, as well as a link to the main website so that anyone watching who lives near any of the 11 Cedar Fair parks can participate, too. I'm hoping that some great things come from that! Let's blow this thing up this year.
TombRaiderFTW
^ What do you think this is, the movie Rollercoaster? Don't go blowing anything up at Kings Island, young man! Reallyreallyreallyreallyreally want to do Coasting for Kids again this year (I last participated in 2012), but the weekend it's on might not work for me to participate. But I guess that's why there's always non-rider fundraising!
ohiocolts
Wow! You did a Paper Mario Let's Play! That game is awesome! I haven't signed up yet, but I probably should some time. It really is an amazing event.
homestar92
I've just noticed that there's no offline donation option for people who wish to use checks or cash... A lot of people on my "potential givers" list do not like using credit cards online, so this could be an issue.. I suppose I could just have them give me cash or a personal check and then use my own debit card to donate in their stead, but something about that doesn't feel right to me... I should get in touch with Give Kids the World about that. Anyone know the proper email address?

homestar92
OK, I found it. The wording in the FAQ isn't the best. There is a place for that, but it's kinda hidden. You log in and go to the "My Progress" link on your control panel and the link is there. It does not, however, say anything about how to have checks made out. Would donors want to make them out to "Give Kids the World"?

Oldschool75
You should have received an email that you can send people, all you need to do is insert your donation link. It also has instructions for donations made by check.
