    2005 Poll

Neither do I. I'd just like the park to install a rerideable, reliable, people eater. A flyer would be nice since I don't think there are any in the Midwest (please correct me if I am wrong, though). As the park continues to "upgrade" to the Hollywood park of the Midwest, they may find that tried-and-true coasters may be the best route to take, with new bells and whistles, instead of prototype coasters.
  2. If it's as hot and as sunny as it has been for the past week or two, I think the Island could see some pretty good business opening day for Boomerang Bay. Will I be going? HA...apparently school is FAR too important than having fun...
  3. I'd make Action Zone more shady. How? No idea.
  4. The Beast has been celebrated as the world's best woodie many times before; its ingenious layout, great airtime, and seclusion from the rest of the park make it what it is.
  5. I picked Face/Off. Small footprint, pretty tall, but for some reason my body can't handle all of those G-forces (I start to black out on the return trip). It does look pretty cool where it is - I like to watch it in the entrance's picnic area. It's really fun to watch there. Just like beastdude said, this coaster just isn't my cup of tea.
  6. If life throws you lemons, make lemonade! Why not catch these buggers and cook 'em over an open fire? I hear insects are high in protein...Atkins, anyone?
  7. Hopefully Paramount will be able to book some other big names like those. Who hasn't heard of 311, Frampton and Styx? Do you feel like we do?
  8. With a name like The Beast, I wouldn't expect the ride to be as smooth as a knife running over the top layer of some Philadelphia Creme Cheese. Woodies are rough...randy baby... If you don't like it rough, get off the wood. (?)
  9. WELL......I'm going to go with Face/Off. It's a great ride...except for the part where you hit the first part of the corkscrew the second time around - I've nearly passed out three times. Must be some **** medical condition. Everything kind of blackens away and yeah... Delirium is a great thrill. Little theming, but that ride IS more of a "kick you in the pants" thrill ride. No theming necessary. Overrated? Eh...I'd say it's rated right where it should be.
  10. I can drive, and this year I'm going to try to go as many times as possible, but there are other things to life than amusement parks...(GASP...)...I know.
  11. My guess is that Paramount knew that the ride may have sucked, so they figured why not put it in one of our less-popular parks? That way, if it did/does suck, we'll know not to put it in any other parks. (No offense at all towards Canada's Wonderland, however.) Just like with Son of Beast, I doubt Paramount Parks, or anyone else for that matter, will build a hyper-looping-"terrain" coaster soon.
  12. I agree with the statement about how much better that coaster would be if it were in a building. I'm not sure exactly how large Tomb Raider: The Ride's main building is, but an indoor Flyer (WITHOUT THAT TERRIBLE CAGE) with the Island's TR: TR theming would be quite impressive.
  13. I remember my first trip to the Island last year, the first thing I got in line for was Delirium (obvouisly). Part of my group of friends got to ride the first run of the morning...while the gondola was going full-force on it's way back up towards Son of Beast, it hit a BIRD. It was great, because we thought someone had lost their shoe. That same day, I was waiting in line with a few of my peers for Tomb Raider and the couple ahead of us left the line because they thought it was a coaster...ahh...classic dumb people.
  14. I'm deprived and from Dayton...I've never had Skyline.
  15. I don't know whether they do or not...I imagine they would since Cedar Point seems to have a good success rate with them (that's what my family uses whenever we go to the Point.)
  16. Righ-O....HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PKI!!!
  17. I'll agree with the WAY above statement about the Rivertown Antique Car's station. It looks very shabby and unused. That path in the park (between the clock and LaRosa's that has the tropical drink place) seems to be the gloomiest of all of the paths. I hope the park does something in the next couple of years with that unused station (either tear it down or something), because all it does is just sit there aestetically displeasing. I know it would cost money to do something with it, but I think that with the Antique Cars plot of land (in its entirety) and the pond on the other side of the path, a pretty good coaster could go there. It probably would be expensive and may not look good from the front of the park, but I would consider it feasible. I really doubt that Congo Falls will be leaving us before 2008; it's a classic wait-in-a-short-line-to-get-soaked-fron-head-to-toe ride.
  18. I feel bad for the photographers...some people give very arrogant "No"s and some people just totally ignore them and keep on walking. It can get annoying, especially if you are a "regular" customer at the park. I would be surprised to find out if the park makes a large amount of money with the entrance pictures since the park has to pay all of the photographers, purchase the cameras (not to mention recharge the batteries) and pay people to develop/print the pictures. I'm not sure how much an entrance picture costs, but if it's like the rest of the park, I'd guess at least $7 for one.
  19. I for one would feel great knowing that a non-minor was operating a ride. People DO make mistakes, that's the risk that amusement park customers take when they climb aboard extremely large and powerful rides such as Delirium, Top Thrill Dragster and Tomb Raider. I also for one trust the operators of rides. I know that the park has trained them well (or should have, at least). Operating rides is a serious job and the people who do this should ALWAYS be prepared for disaster in its worst form (like a train on a coaster getting stuck upside-down on a loop). That said, I think this bill is a bunch of bull. If a person is willing to place thier life in the hands of a ride operator under the age of 18, that's their choice.
  20. I was browsing the park's homepage, and discovered that they have taken some pretty snazzy photographs of some of the rides. Official Pictures. Although not nearly as good as Tyson's, these are getting me REALLY excited about Boomerang Bay. Just though I'd share. P.S. - Tanner, you photos rock, too...lol
  21. All I remember from Days of Thunder was at the end when the hot chicks climbed onto your car!!! The funnier thing is, I was about 10 years old when I first "rode" that ride. -->
  22. Those pictures of King's Island are "off the hozzle"! Now we have proof that the park HAS managed to get a train stuck at the bottom of Son of Beast.
  23. HA...I was too young to remember. I was born a die-hard coaster goof. I'm going to go with Beastie - it was the first ride that I put my hands up on...it makes me laugh considering that I had my hands up both times I went on Dragster last year. (I may have broken the rules, but who would want to keep their hands down on the world's fastest and tallest coaster?)
  24. Heh...cool, but how would you be able to incorporate the moving seats in the movie? Action FX Theater would make one HELL of a way to have POVs.
