Actually no. The covered walkway was removed for the 1998 season when Hanna Barbera Land was renovated. It was nice to get to Rivertown from I Street, as you didn`t have to go in front of the ice cream and food stand and was a more direct way to get to the log flume.

Probably not. Chances are the bottler that the truck belonged to rented out space on their truck to advertisers. And it just so happened that KI decided to buy an advertisement on the truck. Not unlike buying an advertisement on Metro buses.

Coney to Add Three new Attractions in 2008
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Yes. That being said, however, all the times I`ve been to Stricker`s Grove, the Tornado is one of the most popular rides for kids and parents alike. No offense to the Pepsi Python, but between that ride and the Tornado at Stricker`s Grove, I would take the Tornado for a ride over the PYthon in a heartbeat. I just don`t see Coney getting a wooden coaster anytime soon. By the way, Coney erected the River Runner today. Stay tuned for some potential construction pictures of the latest happenings at Coney Island! -
Well, the list of Intamin rides at Kings Island includes the Eiffel Tower, Drop Zone, Congo Falls, White Water Canyon, and Viking Fury.

Coney to Add Three new Attractions in 2008
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Well, I`ve never operated a wooden roller coaster before. So I can`t say what condition they are in for relocating to Coney and being reassembled. However, I personally think that such a project would be outside of Coney`s financial capabilities, not to mention their area of expertise. That being said, I think a small wooden coaster, like the Tornado at Stricker`s Grove, would be an instant hit at Coney, and would make the rides much more of a draw for the park then they currently are. Right now, the pool and group sales are the primary draws. The rides are there to assist in the draw power for the group sales program. -

Ronny, Why that seems like it would be an ideal location, you should visit Coney when they have the Appalachian festival, or the LaRosa`s Balloon Glow, or Cruise-A-Palooza. That lawn area is where they set up all the special events that they have. That being said, that lawn only gets used a handful of days every year. Otherwise, it is a large grassy area that is normally void of people, save for the mighty Firelite Express frequenting those paths on the weekends. -
Yes. I`ve had a bad encounter with that particular website. Someone lifted images off of my personal site, without my permission, and submitted them to that site, where they were posted, without giving any recognition to me! After emailing the webmaster, I had them removed from that site.

Coney to Add Three new Attractions in 2008
CoastersRZ replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Have you visited Coney Island Central? The answer to your questions can be found over there. This was the Spin a Ree ride. This is the old Kiddie Circle Freeway ride. And this is what I believe will be the turtle ride. I do not know if Coney actually bought the old ride from Kings Island (the one that is currently pictured on that page), or if they bought the ride some place else. Regardless, the ride will likely be a kiddie tumblebug ride. -
On the subject of the Fall-O-Ween festival. In 2008, the festival will be at Coney for two weekends, the last two weekends in September. In 2007, it was only open for one weekend, but was open for two weekends in 2006. It actually used to be in October, but the weather one year was bitterly cold.

For the 2008 season, Coney is debuting three new attractions. One of those, the Eurobungy Dome, is an extra pay as you play attraction. The other two new attractions are the Turtle Parade and a viking ship with a tentative name of River Runner. Additionally, the Kiddie Circle Freeway has officially been retired from service. And the Spin A Ree has been removed from service, and placed in storage. The Frog Hopper will have a new home in 2008, near Boats and Trains, as its former site will now be the home of the River Runner. Additionally, The Giant Slide has a new home next to the Tilt-A-Whirl, as its former home is now the home of the new National City Pavilion at Riverbend. For more information, please visit the "New for 2008" page on Coney Island Central.

Actually, I believe that the Ohio Overland Auto Livery was always the side located by Swan Lake. I know it was named that in the late `90s shortly before it was permanently closed.

According to WCPO, Kentucky lawmakers have passed legislation regulating amusement park rides. Part of the new legislation mandates that all ride operators be 18 years of age or older. Currently, Cedar Point has this same age requirement for ride operators. However, both Kings Island and Coney Island only require that ride operators be 16 years old. Here is the article from WCPO`s website.

And I could tell you even more about building permits if you really wanted me to! I`ve had to take drawings in for building permits, and I`ve also had to take revised drawings in and insert them into a set already on file at various building departments in the area, including the City of Cincinnati`s.

And to be more specific, that land is by the Little Miami River. The Little Miami River is a protected river as it is a state and national scenic river.

In accordance with our terms of service, if you have a rumor that you have heard about the park, you must cite your sources of information, and names with which you heard this information, just as King Maple Leaf has done.

For those that haven`t been to Coney, I highly recommend it. There are not many parks around that have a Rock O Plane, a Tempest, or even a Trabant ride. Heck, with Holiday World removing Thunder Bumpers for the Star Spangled Carousel, there aren`t any parks close to Cincinnati that still have bumper boats, with the exception of Coney Island! There is just something unique and special about Coney. Maybe that is why I have worked there for six years, and will likely be back this summer. Also, if you haven`t had a chance to visit Coney Island Central I highly recommend you pay it a visit to see all that Coney has to offer.

For some reason, I seem to recall that Kings Island has 712 acres. I seem to recall seeing a PDF at the time that Cedar Fair purchased Paramount Parks that listed every park`s acreage. I cannot currently find that PDF, so I cannot verify that information.

Could Son of Beast Accident Been Avoided?
CoastersRZ replied to coaster_junky's topic in Kings Island
Son of Beast is a safe ride. If it had severe design defects (which it ultimately did have design defects which ultimately led to the failure of the supports and the accident back in 2006.) the state of Ohio would not authorize the park to open the ride. Furthermore, if there were known safety problems with the ride, I doubt that Cedar Fair`s insurance company would allow the continued operation of the ride. Granted accidents are bound to happen on any ride at some point. Some of these can be traced to rider responsibility, while some, can be actually traced to a mechanical defect/problem with the ride. Also, you don`t have much credibility, considering this was your first post here on KIC. Usually, there is not much merit to the reports of "I have a family member who heard from someone." about something. -
I highly doubt the season pass center will be open to the general public on Saturday, April 19th, as the park is closed to the general public. Last year they were open in the evenings during the week before the park opened (on weekdays). I`m not sure if they plan on doing that again this year or not. (Keep in mind that last year, ALL pass holders had to go to pass processing to swipe out their temporary passes for their permanent 2007 passes, which is something that was specific to last year).

Could Son of Beast Accident Been Avoided?
CoastersRZ replied to coaster_junky's topic in Kings Island
Correct. The steel is placed on top of the wood track, to provide a hard, smooth surface for the wheels to run over. Believe it or not, but wood is actually a soft material. If there were not steel rails installed, the wheel could actually form grooves in the wood, which would make for a rather bumpy ride. Sometimes, they will not place steel track for the side friction wheels or upstop wheels, in areas where they do not expect these wheels to come in contact with the wood. -

I`m not quite sure what you mean by "grooves." Here is a picture from RCDB that clearly shows Blue Streak`s track and its main road steel for the running wheels (the main wheels that carry the weight of the trains). -
Well, the Cincinnati Zoo is also supported by Hamilton County property owners for some funding. A levy was just passed yesterday for the zoo. An interesting thing to note is that the Cincinnati Zoo is the second oldest zoo in the country, behind the Philadelphia Zoo. Additionally, the zoo used to have more attractions. They also, at one point in time had a children`s wooden coaster. They also had such attractions as antique cars, several kiddie rides like a kiddie tumblebug. Additionally, the zoo also had a PTC Carousel, number 45. It was built in 1918, and operated at the zoo until the 1970s. At that point, it was sold to Great America in California, where it operated through the mid 90`s. The Carousel now resides in Seattle at the Woodland Park Zoo, where it continues to thrill visitors to that zoo.

I`ve heard of the land that the zoo owns. However, I believe that they intend on using the land for more conservation/studying of animals and not to publicly display the animals. In other words, it would be more of a research facility then an actual public attraction. And the zoo is in the animal business, not the amusement park business (although they do have a couple of rides). I highly doubt that they have the capital funds to build anything major in Warren County. Nor do I think they have any plans to do so.

Intersection improvements will be made to the intersection of Kings Island Drive and Western Row Road. Some lane closures will occur. However, the good news is, that work is scheduled to be completed by mid-March. Cincinnati Enquirer

Or at least a new movie. I mean, Spongebob 3D has been there since 2003. That means this year will be the sixth season that movie has been playing at the park. And, this spring you will be able to go to the Cincinnati Zoo and be able to experience the 4d version of the very same movie.
