  1. Leonard Bernstein, Leonid Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs are all referenced in It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) https://genius.com/Rem-its-the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it-and-i-feel-fine-lyrics#note-2791162 Stipe once described a dream that he’d had about being at a party where everyone in the room is a famous person with the initials L.B. Explaining this song to Q magazine in 1992, Stipe said: “The words come from everywhere. I’m extremely aware of everything around me, whether I am in a sleeping state, awake, dream state or just in day to day life. There’s a part that came from a dream where I was at Lester Bangs' birthday party and I was the only person there whose initials weren’t L.B. So there was Lenny Bruce, Leonid Brezhnev, Leonard Bernstein. So that ended up in the song along with a lot of stuff I’d seen when I was flipping TV channels. It’s a collection of streams of consciousness.”

  3. "Stipe ELE" --- Micheal Stipe?
  4. TIP: in Chrome, right click on the Enquirer link and select 'open in incognito mode"
  5. R.E.M.: The other night I dreamt of knives, Continental drift divide. Mountains sit in a line Leonard Bernstein. Homer: Leonid What's-His-Name, Herman Munster, motorcade, Birthday party, Cheetos, Pogo sticks and lemonade, Symbiotic stupid jerks, That's right, Flanders, I am talkin' about you!
  6. the Drawings were submitted for review and approval for building permit and electrical permit (and code compliance) only. On the development side of things, (minor) changes can and do happen after plan review and permit issuance, as long as they do not violate the Code or any Conditions of the granted permit or zoning approval. That being said, I do not think the City of Mason has jurisdiction over the ride and/or vertical construction -- that may rest solely with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
  7. I think the sequence # is referring to the order of the ride opening. That being said, then Vortex poster might be corrected from VI to IV since that would be an honest mistake I - TBD II - TBD III - Bayern Curve - 1973 IV - (Vortex - 1987) V - Flight of Fear -1996 VI - TBD VII - Invertego - 1999 VIII - TBD IX - Firehawk - 2007 X - TBD XI - TBD
  8. The sequence numbering will be be the order the Test was done (e.g. when the ride was installed). I would expect 2 rides installed prior to Bayran Curve to be sequence 1 and 2. ....Bethca one of those will be Zodiac
  9. Since the applied-for trademarks seem to involve spaceflight themes, maybe the teasers will be tied-into the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11? (Launch Date July 16, 1969, Moonwalk on July 21, 1969) Neil Armstrong was part of Astronaut Group 2, in project Gemini (pronounced /ˈdʒɛmɪni/, rhyming with knee ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NASA_Astronaut_Group_2 (announced on September 17, 1962) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Gemini Gemini 8 (VIII) was Armstrong's 1st spaceflight and the mission conducted the first docking of two spacecraft in orbit, but suffered the first critical in-space system failure of a U.S. spacecraft which threatened the lives of the astronauts and required an immediate abort of the mission. The crew was returned to Earth safely https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_8 (Edit - Gemini is not one of the applied-for trademarks - Whooops! but its interesting reading nonetheless)
  10. A question I probably should know the answer too --- Soak City opens at 11am, do they let pass holders in 1/2 hour early at 10:30?
  11. No was not suggesting that, just giving some clarification on what the date on the drawings mean. Its possible -- but not likely -- that the electrical designer may have had outdated information. Since the finished pieces started showing up early this spring at CSF, the shop drawings were probably approved late in 2018.
  12. The electrical drawings were an In-progress print dated 5/8/19 and were generated for an electrical permit submittal and approval only. (Likewise for the station area and lift footing permit submission as well ). The base information shown was current on 5/8/19 and was deemed complete enough to submit for electrical approval from the City of Mason. That does not mean the underlying design was complete - and it could possibly change. Since they are fabricating the steel currently, then the design for the version shown on the 5/8/19 drawings most likely is correct since the shop drawings would have had to been produced a while ago. What is unknown and to fuel the fire further, is if the electrical designer had the most current information available for their drawings dated 5/8/19? Would it make a substantive difference on the electrical design if the lift hill is 10 feet higher? (No) For the foundation design and submittal? (Yes) Keep in mind that the permit approval process is Proof of Concept only and a review of compliance with local and/or national electrical and building codes. I am not sure the City has jurisdiction over the vertical construction, that may well rest with the State Department of Agriculture.
  13. https://www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/g28062751/best-roller-coaster-every-state/ De-Clickbated link all on one page: http://deslide.clusterfake.net/?o=html_table_fs_old&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.popularmechanics.com%2Fadventure%2Fg28062751%2Fbest-roller-coaster-every-state%2F Ohio - The Beast Easily the rollercoaster capital of North America, Ohio offers up enough top-flight coasters to fill out its own top-50 list. The best of the best includes Cedar Point’s Steel Vengeance and its 30 stories of height and Top Thrill Dragster with 420 feet of height and speeds of 120 miles per hour, but it can’t skip out on The Beast at Kings Island. At 110 feet tall, the attraction comes with 7,400 feet of wooden track, the longest wooden coaster in the world. Two lift hills bring riders through the Ohio woods and riders say a night ride brings the craziest thrills with a two-tunnel double helix. Highlights: Indiana - The Voyage Kentucky - T3 Michigan - Shivering Timbers At least we in Ohio have a lot of coasters to choose from Kansas - Wildwood Zipline (wut?)
  14. Due to the Little Miami Scenic River, there may be a buffer that they cannot build upon. Beast may be grandfathered into this as the LMSR was created after 1979, I think
  15. That's just one of the parcels that Kings Island owns (the largest and probably the original Taft parcel) The blue outlines are the continuous extent of the Kings Island lands:
  16. The coordinates (metes and bounds) within the Notice are a only a description of the perimeters of the parcels (land) that is owned by the park.
  17. ---I see that NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT document I scooped is all over the place now :-) https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/dont-waste-your-money/kings-island-teases-new-coaster-may-be-coming
  18. Correct - the NOC would only be for contractors the Owners would directly contract or subcontract with to provide real improvements to the property, that would be subject to mechanic's liens. Suppliers would not be included. Ohio Revised Code Section 1311.04 (http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/1311.04)
  19. On the First page of the 2018-022702 NOTICE, note the highlighted Looks like multi-year phased upgrades are in the works. Tomorrow we may only hear about what is immediate; however, for everything to work together they are planning ahead
  20. Ignore Clarifications on 8/9/18 and 8/15/18 -- Mechanic's Liens
  21. Click this link (warren County Recorder) https://oh3laredo.fidlar.com/OHWarren/AvaWeb/#!/search?Parcel=1617200014 And click on Document number 2018-022702 (entitled "NOTICE" <of improvements>); Click on the highlighted part to open the PDF preview --- and take a look at the parties listed and time frame listed. I'll sit back and watch (last time they made recorded such a notice was 8/16/16 - 2016-023952 for Mystic Timbers)
  22. Really, what sold the gold pass for me is the Free Parking (and unlimited visits thru year end) , allows a quick run to the park and more rides thru the Fall. (We maybe used the ERT's once or twice). I think they could sell downgraded passes of just Unlimited Visits and/or free parking added with no other perks (silver?)
