You know, I forgot to mention this but a few weeks ago...Fri or Sat, I forget now, they had Vortex down for a few hours while a guy was on top of the lift hill clearly installing a camera. Wonder if that has anything to do with anything?
-
Man this is bull crap....now I gotta actually get stuff done and....work!? Whatever gets done on Orion I will see this Fri though. Gotta get in more Beast Rides. And at least one more Vortex run!

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
Fishleehooker replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
They are planning something there. It'll be a few years, but plans have started rumor is. -
Nice report! Good luck on your move too. I take it he liked Banshee too right? I love it myself.

Off topic...I agree about Cedar Point, but don't think it will be completely wrecked. I'm sure I'll make it up 2 or 3 times. I guess that third or more trip depends on how long the waits were on the other trips. So have we confirmed the crane in the lot is tall enough? I didn't think it was, but wasn't quite sure how many times that can extend or whatnot. If it is..then they are indeed very close. I suspect they do some cam stuff of the construction, so even if live stuff is down, we should be able to see some stuff down the line of it. I'd love to see it in real time but understand the danger involved.
-
LOvinMe is right. Wonder what they will get done while the cranes are being built? I suspect basically any area that will need crane use. I guess I am wondering most when they also start on other areas of the coaster. Either way we are getting much closer to the good stuff.

I eat La Rosas every time, but do love Skyline...so I agree that perhaps it isn't a food I crave b4 flying down huge hills and walking for miles. I still luvs ya though Skyline.
-
Skyline all-night...all-day. My fave in Cinci is probably Mt Pleasant. Camp Washington is outstanding too. Some of the Skylines can be right there too. Each one is different like most restaurants. I havent tried Dixie and can't remember Blue Ash, so that means I likely didn't have it. No longer in Dayton, but long live Chili King too. I miss that one. We only have the franchised Skylines...there must be a Goldstar too, but the one on Dixie North of Dayton is gone. Anyway I make a mean one too as does my wife.

My first big one and I will always love love love it. Good read right there Daisy. -
Yeah, and true that, but all the crane work was from 0 feet to about 100 at most. The brake run stuff and the crane being built was pretty good stuff in today's winds is all I'm saying and it probably made it a little slower going getting the stuff in place.
-
That's bad enough too. Those people doing the work up high and on lifts as well as the crane operators had a lot to deal with with all these gusts of wind today.
-
Up here in Vandalia, next to Dayton Airport, its extremely windy, so that couldn't make things any easier today. Impressive work once again!
-
Your probably right. I just want an RMC or even another big woodie. That is my fave part of KI by far and away.
-
Yeah another support is up, and it appears a truck might be backing up with some more brake run to install today. Good work

I am really eager to see what stuff goes in and around the entrance to Orion. More stuff back there will take some more crowd with them so the entire park should fit a few more people in or at least the park would feel a little less congested.
-
I LOVE CP, but as a KI homer, I always like the fact that I could ride a lot more rides do the lines chewing through people rather quickly and slightly smaller crowd sizes. This year I bought fast passes to CP and KI and had to wait much longer at CP. If KI can get a lineup close to CP and hold that line moving edge thing, itll be very close IMO. KI always maintained the line advantage though. You could always get in more rides at KI. So if they can get a few more coasters, it'll be hard to have a better day at an amusement park than at KI ,even if CP always holds an edge in thrill rides, which it will for the next 10 years or so.

Since SoB was a tribute to The Beast, just say the loop was a misguided youth thing. Beasts don't do loops. Or something like that. I know having a killer RMC that was called SoB would make the SoB story so much more palatable for everyone involved and it would be a must-ride thing for everyone into amusement parks.
-
I bet I ride this sucker 50 times next year at minimum. I love the addition and it keeps getting better as I learn and watch more. I totally agree. For me, get this, and another coaster or 2 (Gotta get that RMC to complete it for me), some more family rides and keep improving the already great Snoopy area and this one is gonna be untouchable.
-
Yeah I figured that out after staring at it for awhile! I was hoping action was going on that way.
-
Is that the white crane that was in the parking lot on the far left in middle just behind the trees? Its seems to be making its way across but I could be wrong.
-
Agree. I think they want the other crane built, then they will finish those supports behind the tree. Meanwhile another piece of break run could go in. I kinda wish I could see all the way to the right, because I know stuff is going on, but its more prep stuff I assume. The third crane will be needed for the top I assume though.
-
I'd take a vekoma 4 sure. I still lean towards more wood after this. That SoB curse needs lifted. I'd hardly complain on a vekoma or any multi launch. The one I want least is a dive coaster but I know people that love them.
-
Once they get those bottoms cemented in, which they are doing currently behind that tree ( I thought they were putting in a tree! D'oh!), then I think they will put another lift hill piece in place to support the further building of that monster. I think one more lift hill piece gets put in place by the weekend, or start of next week.
-
The tree just made it look weir. They are indeed placing another massive support for the lift hill. Looks like someone welding on the bottom of the lift hill, at the start of the course. TO the far left they are loading a piece. Not sure if its lift hill or break run, but its getting moved to where they need it today, so we should know soon enough. I hope they record all this and are able to do a time lapse of the construction of this thing!
-
I may be wrong, but is there a crew putting in a nice sized tree kinda near FoF and kind of in front of the lift hill. Makes sense they would try to plant as many as possible as soon as possible so they can establish roots and start to grow some next season. Meanwhile to the far left they are preparing another piece of break run so that it can be installed soon. Things are really moving today. I am going to the Buckeyes game in Chicago against Northwestern, but will try to follow this as much as possible tomorrow and Fri. I really hope I don't miss the lift hill getting installed more.
