Cincinnati Post Press Release of Nick Universe
The Interpreter replied to Skywriter's topic in Kings Island
I wondered how long it would be before someone posted that! And it mentions the new ticket booths... -
FoF does scare me...but only that I fear it may not be there next season. I certainly hope those contemptible rumors are just that...rumors....
-
^^^ <<<< Favorite show in grad school was "You Can't Do That On Television." Gosh, I suddenly feel very, very old. "I don't know." SPLASH!
-
Well, there is this. It will almost certainly be a different "they." Perhaps the new "they" will realize that maintenance of theming and grounds is as important as new additions.
-
And when you don't hear what someone says (if you are from Cinci), you say not "Pardon me.." or "Excuse me." Instead, you say "please..." And people from other places look at you puzzled and say "Please what?"
-
Wow. I am going to agree with you folks. From that list, Drop Zone. I wanted to vote for Fairly Odd Coaster...
-
What Do You Mean Just Happened To! HB Was Bestowed On Taft Broadcasting as A Gift From Gawd! I see you must be a native of the Cinci area!
-
Mr. Ed Hart, a bunch of investors and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Mr. Hart also had a connection with Ralph Stricker. http://www.coaster-net.com/pg/sfkk.php
-
Actually another reason HB was in the park to start with is because the park was owned by Taft Broadcasting, who just happened to own HB.
-
Even if there is a Nights of Fire (and I bet there will be), the budget may or may not be the same as in years past. By then, the new owner may have been identified, and might even have a say in how the park is run. Or not.
-
I wouldn't assume that will be the price for o7. a. The park is changing hands. b. The competition is changing its pricing for season passes. c. They weren't even that cheap for o6, this time around. (On the other hand, at Carowinds, they were 49.95...if you bought at least two).

If I can hit Paramount's Carowinds, Paramount's Kings Dominion, Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Over Georgia for their opening days, I can surely hit Paramount's Kings Island on Friday. And yes, I am coming from out of town. Weather only matters to me if the park closes. Other than that, I see bad weather as largely being a plus. I do hope it is nice Saturday and Sunday, so the park can take in some great revenue, to fund those rides, attractions, shows and stuff that we all love.

The Spongebob film played last year at Six Flags Great Adventure, which is far from any Paramount Park, in New Jersey. Moreover, it played with the additional wqter effects missing from the Paramount versions, and the film was in focus ALL the time. But the queue theming looked as if it were acquired from the nearest Family Dollar or Dollar General store, which it probably was.
-
Virtually ALL Six Flags got that ride for their motion theaters this year. In the past, Paramount would have paid for exclusivity to keep Kentucky Kingdom from getting it. This was done with several of the films that have appeared in the motion theaters. Apparently, this year, no such payment for exclusivity was made, and you see the result... (This was the reason that so far you have not seen Scooby films or attractions at Six Flags over Georgia, as similar protection was acquired for Carowinds in the past)
-
I suggest you visit The Golden Kingdom at Six Flags Great Adventure. The theming there rivals any at Disney. And the new management seems to have restored it to new for this season. This after a season of very heavy use last year...and a closed major attraction for much of the summer. How the new Six Flags maintains its parks will be watched very closely. The Gotham City areas at the major Six Flags parks are also heavily themed (with the exception, ironically, of Great Adventure). Don't judge all Six Flags parks by Kentucky Kingdom. It really is an atypical (and substandard, compared to the rest) Six Flags. Even this year. At both Georgia and New Jersey this year, I have been impressed by the courtesy, service and cleanliness. I wish I could say the same of my visit to Kentucky Kingdom last Sunday. I can't and I won't.
-
That Action Theater ride is a good one. Did it at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on Sunday. Short, but an excellent attraction. Six Flags made sure to paste the Six Flags logo on the beginning, too! I am sure that part won't be seen at PARAMOUNT'S Kings Island.

Six Flags didn't go into debt because management was so confused. Six Flags went into massive debt because they went on a humongous park buying spree and bought more parks than they could afford. Then they put massive investments in rides into almost all of them (at first...there was a time when every park they bought got a Boomerang and an SLC, unless it was already a major park). It came to the point where even making just the interest payments was becoming quite a stretch...the European parks were sold, outside investors thought they could do a better job than then current management, then current management gave itself huge golden parachutes and closed Astroworld, the stockholders voted to oust former management and the tale goes on.... In any event, one mistake Six Flags definitely made that Paramount has as well is that they both put in great new rides with, in some cases, incredible theming. And then never maintained the theming. That much, I do see in common.

Okay, I'm old enough that a few of you (probably precious few) haven't heard the silly joke that line used to always bring up. If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? Pilgrims. groan.

Favorite Coaster at PKI
The Interpreter replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Like you'll never have children AGAIN??? AGAIN??? Did I miss something? -
Will both the other Skyline locations also return? It seems to me the one in Rivertown was almost never open anyway....

Heres your Fairly Odd Coaster!
The Interpreter replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Coming Attractions
And Carowinds' wasn't added in a year when the entire chain was for sale. Still, let's wait til Friday, and even then some, before rushing to judgment... -

I think that sign is... wait for it.... fairly odd. -
Mandarin was REALLY good when it first opened. As they figured out what their costs were, though, the quality and the quantity both rapidly went downhill. Not long after, the amount of customers they could attract did likewise. It was sad, really. Unlike the Mexican place, which was just horrid from day one... All IMHO, of course.

As of tonight, the weekend forecast for Mason is worsening, with a higher chance of rain/storms on Friday, now a 30 percent chance on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, too:
