  1. To my understanding, the Park is going to slowly phase out the Paramount name, starting with general correspondence. A friend of mine in the call center still says "Paramount's Kings Island" and last I heard they were not forcing such a change in wording in their telephone greetings. Course, old habits are hard to break. It was hard to get in the habit of saying "Paramount" but in late 1992, it was enforced that the park be called by its full new name by personnel. As many of you already know, the usage of the Paramount brand names may continue on certain attractions, and I am sure that is being evaluated on a case by case basis (at least for now). I look for changes to be visible on the website and any printed matter (Park brochures and maps will not be ready until March or April so I have been told) real soon also. Other changes such as removing the mountain from garbage cans, signage, coaster cars may take time but I think we can definately see big changes made this year and in the years to come. While many of us are curious about when changes such as these will take effect, im certain changing some signs is not the most important thing on their minds at this stage in the game. Just my opinion, of course. (GASP) I know you guys arent going to like this one--- but I personally will miss Paramount. I cant say that the past few CBS years have been terrific, but overall the ambiance I will miss. Anyways, great website and I will be with all of you in counting down the days til the opening.
  2. Wonderful pics! I was supposed to come to the preview tonight, but we didnt make it. I am not quite sure, but it looks as if Cedar Fair is trying to use them Winterfest decorations purchased last year.. LOL j/k.. Looks like a huge success though.. Hats off to the park, staff, and the crew of PKI.central.. Nice job..
  3. I think I know what video you are speaking of. It was the 20th Anniversary Special that aired on network television. It concluded with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Phantom Theatre. I have it on VHS, but I will see if I cant transfer it to DVD and/or get it on the net.
  4. The word thus far according to the Park is that Winterfest is still going on as scheduled. The tickets are no longer available on the site nor at the front gate for whatever reason but sources at the Park say that they will be available later in the season. Course, ya never know what to expect.
  5. Hi there! Paramount's Kings Island did post a few new pics of construction progress on Nickelodeon Universe today, March 29. Things are looking colorful! I would imagine that a few weeks after the Park opens, they will be adding "finishing touches". That's what happened with Paramount's Carowinds when they overhauled their Nickelodeon area. Overall, it looks nice. Pics can be found at the Park's Media Center: http://www1.paramountparks.com/KingsIsland...cfm?item_id=344
  6. I personally like the Park since Paramount bought them in 1992. Personally, with Paramount's Kings Island being their "flahship park" I think they could have done more. One thing that humors me greatly though, "International Street". Now back in the day, it was just that - international. I guess the Eiffel Tower and La Rosas count for French and Italian? LOL Well, they did have a Mexican and Chinese place didnt they? Still, I am kinda shocked though that as much as Paramount likes to put their names on things that they have not changed the name to reflect the "Hollywood" image that they are going for. Paramount Plaza was used at Paramount's Carowinds, for example.
  7. It wasnt anything major. Just noticed that that phrase "Crocodile Dundee" has been removed from the logo. I noticed this when Paramount's Carowinds announced their expansion. Also, in the Sept 21 release, Paramounts Carowinds never mentioned "Crocodile Dundee" in any of their logos, concept art, or news release itself. Also, Paramount's Great America has "stamped out" the name from thier website. I think this is the start of name/theme changes to come. My source was more than reliable about buyout, but it is also to my understanding that Paramount Parks are keeping the bulk of the employees in the dark about things, until they are made official. Something "may" officially happen before late summer as you say, but an announcement is expected later in the summer, according to what I have been informed. However, I am sure things could change timeframe wise. Maureen says that they are "entertaining offers" and in all fairness I think this is something she may not even know definately. Course, never underestimate Maureen! She is a God-sent!
  8. BTW.. I love this website.. lol I was speaking with someone at the Corporate office that I knew for a good amount of time, and she was telling me that Paramount Parks would be making an accouncement sometime in late summer (more specifically late July) as to the future of the parks. I asked Maureen about in an email this past week, she didnt comment, but did say that they are entertaining possible buyers. I have noticed on the websites that they slowly are starting to "stamp out" some of the Paramount names, such as with the logo for Boomerang Bay. I agree with one poster, who said that we will most certainly see gradual changes over the season. For me, its sad. I used to work for them at the office in NC and they had such hopeful plans. I think selling is a bad move, but thats just me. LOL
  9. As many of you know, this past Friday was Pride Night 2005, and while this event evokes mixed feelings with people, I would like to thank those who for one attended, and two for those of you employees who worked the event. I know some people may not want to work that day, and for those of you who did, thanks. I was in attendance as my stage/drag personality, Tammy Faye Sinclair, for those who may have seen me on MTV and LOGO Networks. We got an opportunity to ride some of the attractions and we cut up with many of the ride operators and had a blast. Thank you so much for having a good sense of humor and being a good sport. We had a blast with every one of you, so hats off to all of you and your commitment to job excellence. PS: A special thanks to security - you were priceless! 10. I am going to take a stab at this, but I say that the music you are thinking of was privatley produced for the "Nickeloden Celebration Parade", as it is part of the entire soundtrack. Normally tracks are developed for the parks by Paramount Show Services, however, sometimes they use other Viacom-based company studios or private companies. To my knowledge, the track for the parade is not available for retail. However, a lot of the movie themes you hear throughout the park is available by visiting Amzon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...2053804-4209668 , or by calling Paramount Pictures' Company Store. Tracks include the themes from such movies as Titanic, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, and more. Hope this helps.
  11. I personally dont think that Paramount Parks will sell of any of the parks. If anything, Paramount Parks is doing well, and preparing to expand its market into Japan with the construction of a new theme park, as announced last year. Kings Island will remain a property of Paramount - thats my opinion.
