  1. To clear up any confusion about PKD's Drop Zone... it is NOT a gyro drop. The ring is stationary and does not spin or have the ability to spin if wanted, it is a simple 56 people ring making it the largest drop ride in the world. (2nd tallest behind one in germany, but it has the highest capacity of any ride like it; therefore the world's largest). Also the comment about PKI's Flight of Fear opening first is not supported by any facts. RCDB lists PKD's as opening June 18, and PKIC lists PKI's as opening June 18. Sounds like they opened the same day to me... As for what Paramount Park offers the best thrills? How can anyone really say if they haven't been to them all? Most people on here are voting PKI because its the only one they have been to, I have nothing against that. I've only been to PKD and PGA so my vote goes to PKD plus it's my home park. I like to think of myself as an unbiased person when it comes to topics like this, hopefully I'll get up to PKI this summer to see what it has to offer vs. PKD.
  2. I got my morning wired at PKD's Starbucks this last weekend, that place is gonna be great throughout the season whenever I get there tired or have to drive all the way home after a long day (considering it's 70 miles).
  3. We'll have some video of the ride next weekend. On-ride video should be avilable after April 5th which is Media Day when the ride will be fully compleat using all theming and special effects.
  4. You can check out the pictures from opening day that I got on my site PkdPlace.com Tomb Raider Firefall opening day pictures Espically check out my favorite picture I got: Here
  5. Alright, well the ride is hard to put into words, will awesome work? Opening day yesterday was a nice 60 degrees and a good start to the Pkd season. A good portion of the grove got a face lift with the new ride, new paths, patios, and plants. As for Firefall itself, the ride is great. You get to choose which side you want, either facing the Volcano and the crowds of on-lookers, or a Cambodian themed wall with waterfall. As the ride starts, the floor drops out and the music starts to boom creating a great atmosphere. As the ride starts it goes to its 60 foot height which looks much higher when on the ride, not to mention the small hill in front of the ride. As you go gas pumps from below the water create the burning water effect. There are several water cannons that burst during the ride perfectly timed to the music. Since it was a cool day the mist and some of the fountains that hit the riders were not turned on. The theming is not fully compleate but is well on its way and should be in the next week or so depeneding on how much they work throughout this coming week. As for the fire effects, there are two main sequences both of which draw crowds of people to watch. This is where being an outdoor ride gets it benefits, its a ride and live entertainment for on-lookers at the same time! Though I have not been to PKI yet, I'm not too sure if TRTR could beat TRF...? I mean you can't beat real fire in the amounts that this ride pumps out. And 10 foot drop differance isn't really that much different... BUT I'm not saying which is truly better cause I actually like to ride both of the two things I am comparing so I'm not biased.
  6. Well I can tell you that the Pkd version looks very nice with well planned out theming and a nice replacement to Stan Mikita's. I have only been in ours a few times never getting any food there, but who I was with who got the food said it wasn't that great and below average food. So if yours follows the same trend then expect a nice looking place with the same food as whatever it was before the theme change.
