  1. At the beginning of that Fox video you really get the sense of how immense that ride is. The second hill (that passes under the first) is enormous... Wow. Can't wait.
  2. I highly, HIGHLY doubt that most or even many visitors to Kings Island will say "This is just Ghost Blasters with a different name!" Of course, many may say "This is just Scooby Doo without Scooby Doo." But based on what we've seen, those opinions will change after they ride the ride. It actually appears to have a storyline, and a fun one at that!
  3. Are you suggesting someone design Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaland?! Bring it on, RCT3!!!
  4. EDIT: According to the Carowinds website, yes, it was playing Spongebob. Strange! In 5@5, they mentioned there were a few ideas of what to do with Action Theater. We'll see! I just started thinking of this: does anyone else wonder why they'd update the website and add Boo Blasters at Boo Hill if they're planning on revealing a completely revamped website in a week? If there were a new website on the way (and what's more, within the coming days), I can't see them going in to add BBoBH... Maybe I'm wrong, I just think it's weird.
  5. Though I first must say I've never been, I feel like (and have heard that) most of the roller coasters present at the park are "mediocre" versions of much nicer rides. Round About, while it has an interesting lift mechanism, is really quite "lame." Imagine our BLSC without a theme; a much shorter layout without any scenery or effects and there you have it... Time Machine is supposedly really mild, one of the more forceless B&Ms out there, and it looks pretty short to me... Like they attempted to squeeze in as many elements as possible in a short track. Again, I haven't ridden it, but it doesn't look appealing to me. As was said, if you're going to be a destination park (in Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Hollywood, etc) you generally have to offer something more than regional parks. For the general Ohioan traveling to Myrtle Beach, our parks easily conquer Freestyle's collection. The same can be said of Pennsylvania and New Jersey and Virginia. If Freestyle were in Ohio, it would probably be alright. But it's in a vacation area, and offers less than local parks. And, as people said, the location sucks (or so I've heard). The park planned to ride on the Hard Rock name. Obviously, it couldn't. And now, it can't even try to. Now if only Cedar Fair was in the black, maybe they'd consider buying the park and relocating its rides! Maybe placing Round-About at Wildwater Kingdom (why not?), Time Machine at Cedar Point (there just aren't enough inversions in that park!), Soak'd at Kings Island (Planet Snoopy?) and Hang Ten at Kings Dominion (they don't have an inverted kids coaster like we do, so they deserve a new kid coaster).
  6. Plus, as was stated, they won't work on Boo Blasters. And we don't even know if there will be a 3D movie shown in Action Theater..
  7. ^ THAT WAS YOUR 3000th POST! PARTY HATS! And in order to not be off-topic, I agree! I wish I had some at home...
  8. Diamondback is testing today! http://kiDiamondback.com/public/downloads/webcam.cfm Great to see the splashdown all filled up, clean, and ready to go... NOT. Haha.
  9. ^ And then there are parks like Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which has two of my personal favorite roller coasters, Apollo's Chariot and Griffon, plus incredible rides like Alpengeist and Loch Ness Monster (perhaps even with a B&M flier in the near future), and have incredibly detailed theme, world-class dark rides, relevant and whimsical kid's areas, delicious & fairly-priced food, and tasteful & successful Halloween and Christmas events...
  10. That's why I said there's no 3D "proper." Rides like Spiderman, DarKastle, etc. provide free 3D glasses for extraordinary rides with incredible special effects. Are we really expected to pay $1 or $2 to get cardboard, low quality glasses just in hopes that it makes some of the colors "pop"? If you can get the polarized grey glasses for the Action Theater, surely the same company makes the same style (the plastic, reusable ones) but with the cyan and red lenses. To me, it's just a joke, and again, very expected. That being said, if the 3D glasses were 25 cents (which would STILL bring in income, I'm sure) I would accept it - two parents and their two kids getting the whole family a set for $1 is fair. But to charge $4 for something that (admittedly) probably doesn't do much at all, and that are literally disposable? Come on. All the people saying "Well you can save them for next time!" Come on... Take a look at a park map by the end of the day - in pockets, in fanny packs, etc. It would be ridiculous to think these glasses will make it home in one piece, much less that they'll be placed somewhere where they can easily be found for next month's trip to the park. Don't get me wrong - the ride looks great (though I'm not crazy about Boocifer, first of all because it sounds stupid), but the 3D glasses thing is such a rip off. Again, keep in mind this is the same company that still attempts to swindle (yes, swindle) people out of $2 for glasses on Disaster Transport.
  11. ^ Take a wild guess. My only problem is, there are rides out there that are actually 3D, and startlingly so - Spiderman, DarKastle, Toy Story Midway Mania, and many many more. But the only places I've ever been asked for pay for 3D glasses are Cedar Fair parks. And we're talking about rides that use disposable red and blue ones and aren't really even "3D proper". It makes the park feel like a carnival: "The ride's fine, but there's lots of bright colors inside so maybe, just maybe if you buy these special glasses things will look really crazy!!" It's so gimmicky. The ride looks very very nice, but the glasses thing is so... expected. And that disappoints me.
  12. Though the same can be said of all theme park operators, there should be a website dedicated to poorly-named Cedar Fair rides, and poorly-thought-out Cedar Fair slogans, and poorly-priced Cedar Fair food. The highlights: Diamondback: Your first ride may be your last! Flight Deck Beaver Land Mine Ride Dominator All Cedar Fair food.
  13. Without it, I wouldn't mind it at all. It begs the question, "Did they not notice they used boo twice? or did they think it was clever?" Either way, most of us feel they were wrong, and a simple poll on the official website would've saved them from that.
  14. To me, it looks like the "on Boo Hill" was an afterthought. Most anyone with an education in graphic design would probably scold whoever made this - there are two completely separate entities, they're not connected, or related at all. Different colors, different shapes, different fonts, and not even remotely touching or overlapping. Perhaps "Boo Blasters" was the original name and for one reason or another, they needed to staple on "on Boo Hill." Also, those ghosts are mean looking... Haha!
  15. This did happen for Paramount's FearFest - Phantom Theater era, of course - "scarier" heads were placed on the animatronics (strange that there was ever a time when that building house really-for-real animatronics) and a few live actors were scattered throughout. I only rode Phantom Theater once, kicking, screaming, and crying the whole time - I can't imagine it (or any ride) with live actors within. I wouldn't do it, period.
  16. Boo Blasters on Haunted Hill. Boo Blasters of Ghastly Manor. Ghastly Blasters. Boo Blasters in the Haunted Castle. Ghost Attack! Ghost Blasters of Ghoul Hill. There are six (reasonably) alright-sounding alternatives, and I imagine not a single one is copyrighted. If Boo Blasters on Boo Hill is the best you can come up with, so be it - admit that it sucks and have a naming contest! First prize for writing the winning entry could be a simple season pass - it would cost the park practically nothing, and we might have a WAY better name right now.
  17. I'm sure that the shakiness comes from the raw speed. With Top Thrill Dragster, the camera displays that same kind of shakiness but to a lesser extent because it's straight forward into the wind. Intimidator has the camera being knocked around from side to side, plus the speed... If you were a camera, you'd be shaky too (no offense...)! Hahah.
  18. Oh yeah! Thanks. One of the former Paramount Parks had on its website that Boo Blasters on Boo Hill had to do with Charlie Brown looking for the Great Pumpkin. If that remains true, I imagine the ride will be much different that the one we're getting glimpses of at Kings Island!
  19. Interesting to see that skeletal couple in bed! I would've thought that, with Kings Island's penchant for leaving nothing and no one off limits, we'd have seen them nude, or at least a same-sex couple! It's very nice to see this ride evolving! It looks as if they're freshening up the paint on some trees, or maybe adding new ones? A great sign! Touche, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company! Touche...
  20. I bet we'll get a name today. Speaking of which, if all of this build up has been leading to "Boo Blasters on Boo Hill," I'll frankly be a little disappointed. It's so obvious that we'd get the same name that the other parks get, you'd assume they wouldn't make a big deal out of it unless we were getting something else, at least name-wise. But then, why would they name ours differently if it won't be different? But for every other park, it was just a matter of the 2010 map coming out and it said Boo Blasters on Boo Hill and that was that and there ya go, but for ours they're trying to build it up and keep it secret and make a big deal out of it to the extent that you'd think it might be different somehow... It obviously won't be as far as the ride, but maybe it would be different in name, but why would it different in name if it's the same ride, but if there's nothing different then why didn't they just announce it like the rest did and that means that- Oh dear I've gone cross-eyed. At least we can mark this semi-confirmed that the Peanuts will not play a part in this ghostly adventure... ^ I doubt Mr. Shwartz would like Charlie Brown standing next to him cowering...
  21. (Note this is not from the new Kings Island dark ride) Notice that the figure is most certainly Boocifer from Ghost Blasters II. Though, if I'm not mistaken, Boocifer is also in Carowind's Boo Blasters? Is Boo Blasters a copy of Ghost Blasters? Hahha Let's hope we get the finale of Ghost Blasters II, the final showdown with Boocifer: And their pepper's ghost trick: There was a Pepper's ghost in Phantom Theater, right? It would be cool to see that return.
  22. From Kings Island's Facebook. Looks much scarier than Scooby if you ask me! People who have been to Carowinds, is this similar to their Boo Blasters on Boo Hill?
  23. I hope they announce it soon so we can get some questions in for todays 5@5! Wishful thinking, I know...

    Hotels Near KI

For what it's worth, I'm 18 and have never had a problem getting a hotel.. Not in Ohio, not in Florida, not in Virginia. I usually call ahead and ask if it will be a problem, and no one's ever said it would be, and I've never had an issue. In fact, when I came to Kings Island for my 18th birthday, I checked in to the Days Inn in Mason with no trouble, and I was 17 at the time... I'll be there the same weekend you're going for my 19th birthday, and I'm staying at the Baymont Inn next to The Beach... I'm not expecting any problems... famous last words If you decide you do want to stay, honestly try the Days Inn. It's like, $35 a night, and yes, it's crap, but it's great for teenagers and trust me, we have a lot of fun memories based just on the room. Nothing awful, of course, but lot's of funny things you'd expect to see in a cheaper hotel (the continental breakfast was about five bagels set out the night before; we asked for extra towels and were told they didn't have any, then we asked for blankets and the blankets they sent would've passed for towels, but were a little too starchy; the pool was overrun by a pair of very angry geese...)
