  1. You are not alone in this catagory. I love traditional animation so much more. But the thing is, Disney had reached the pinnacle of 2-D animation. If it would have been taken any farther, it would have ended up 3-D anyways. But I can say that you will be in for a wonderful surprise a few years down the line. Especially if you are an R and R fan. What you need to look at is this. TOY STORY . You don't have to sit through it, just look at it for a minute. Then, A BUG'S LIFE . Again, for a minute, MONSTERS INC., FINDING NEMO, THE INCREDIBLES, CARS, all for a minute, and then watch RATATOUILLE. Unlike 2-D animation, this coming of age style is rapidly improving. It took Disney years to make any true visible difference in the pictures quality when regarding traditional animation styles. Pixar is improving the visuals with each and every film. Download a picture of Wal - E if you get the chance. It's so detailed that it's almost scary.
  2. This topic should be shown to a speech professor. In my humble opinion it would could make for an interesting debate project. WOW...it's deep. The facts are that each individual is going to have their own opinion. Some would prefer to continue to see what they remember growing up with. These memories are what they can relate with. They exist within the person's comfort zone. I am trying not to go too technical, however people could argue between Hanna-Barbera and Nickelodeon and it just wouldn't stop any sooner than an arguement over Hillary or Obama. There are so many different options out there, and another seemingly endless list of directions to take all of them. True, they could have Nick, They could have H.B., they could have Both. Please keep in mind that they could also have neither. Peanuts are an option. They could attempt to bring in all new characters. They could develop their own characters. Shoot, they could decide not to have any at all. As stated before, it is Cedar Fair's park. They can do whatever they want with it. Cartoon go through trends seemingly close to clothing fashions. They will be popular for a few years. And and time passes, they are eventually in a sense recycled. Looney Tunes in the 60's, and 90's. Hanna-Barbera in the 60's thru the 80's. Nickelodeon in the 90's and past the millenium. Disney, seemingly forever. Even Cartoon Network's original programming was popular for a while. Who know's what the next trend in Animation is going to be. For now it looks like the Disney merger...PIXAR The modern leader of up to date animation is the endgame to current competition. I don't mean to keep dragging this but my point is that Animation trends come and go, and in my opinion it is probably a good chance that someday ( maybe years from now, maybe not ) the childrens area at Kings Island will be changed again to once again fit the times. Again, just my opinion. To go into the statement that Nickelodeon is not as appropriate for Children than H.B. This is not accurate. Animation has always made attempts to reflect life is some manner. And when doing that, it is obvious that what is found to be acceptible for children changes from decade to decade. This happens because children grow up faster. They are in a very different world than 30 to 50 years ago. Keep in mind that Disney's Pinnocchio is a masterpiece today. And very mild and fit for children in a lot of peoples eyes. It's true, it really is. And it alway's has been. But the writing style ( today ) would be considered more mature than most of today's cartoons. But also keep in mind that when Pinnocchio came out, it was intended at that time to have the same slapstick comedy at Ratatouille has today. They are equally brilliant in different times. Animation is my ultimate dream, and it's history and future are my life. ( that and I love animals.. the 2 seem to go together quite nicely. ) I will not get to spend any time at the park this summer due to an Internship at Pixar. But maybe I will get to in the fall. I hope so. I can't wait to see all of the changes at the park.
  3. Kings Island Get the "P" out of your system "p" is for paramount Kings Island YES, IT's REAL, THE PARAMOUNT IS FINALLY GONE...IT'S NOT JUST A DREAM Kings Island CLICKED IT's HEALS TOGETHER 3 TIMES, and said "THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME" and the Paramount went away. Following these events, all was again right with the world. Kings Island....Our new names may be kinda slackish, but will never add up to the amount of damage done to the park by Paramount
  4. How about naming the Son of Beast..... Debt..The Ride SpineTingler Ruptured Disc ( Do Chiropractic Centers Sponsor this Ride??? ) ..of course I'm kidding
  5. Unlimited Admission to Both Parks Now, you can get unlimited admission for up to a week to both Universal Studios AND Islands of Adventure theme parks for only $85.99 plus tax. That's less than the price of a Walt Disney World® 1-Day Park Hopper® Ticket! You can get a buy one come back all year pass for Busch Gardens and Sea World at $62.00-$64.00. I think it is about $100.00 for both. Sea World is AWESOME! I can't wait for Aquatica!
  6. I agree with everyone who believes that Paramount has ruined the incredible feel that once graced the International Street and Royal Fountain. To me, even the massive Paramount Logo was an instant disappointment as soon as I walked into the park. Ironically enough, Paramount did not completely destroy the International Street at the sister park, Kings Dominion. It would be an excellent reference to look at if the concept to bring the former glory back to Kings Island's I. Street should ever be considered by Cedar Fair. And on top of walking in and seeing one movie commercial after another while walking down international street, a guest is then subject to a beautiful garden that is ruined with movie props, and a walk through that I think stopped being funded after "Titanic" All of those props, (Especially the Enterprise) are just kind of wasting away. But at least the park finally stopped playing the paramount story recording 2 years ago, which was so old that it stopped with "Waynes World" And as if this was not enough, Kings Island was meant to face just one more catastrophe under it's former owner.....The removal of the rather attractive pond, and bridge, and open grass, and well EVERYTHING that made up the Old Time Cars. And only to make way for one of the crappiest looking roller coasters that I have ever seen, sitting on a concrete jungle. This ride is what now needs to be tore to the ground, and the concrete removed to make way for a nice relaxing garden. In my opinion: Demolition of Old Time Cars/FearFest's Route 666 + Building of Italian Job: Stunt Track= One of the top 5 worst decisions ever made by owners of Kings Island K.C.
  7. I would turn the Paramount Story into a garden/museum honoring the parks past. I would tear down Italian Job, and sell it, or trash it, and throw a piece of it in my new museum I would remove every single trace of the Paramount logo, except for a plaque which would speak of the previous owner's history in my new museum I would return WinterFest. I would also make it bigger I would return the ice shows of the past I would relinquish my ways, get into terms with the AZA, and bring about a new form of the once Wild Animal Habitat Upon successful plans for W.A.H., I would give a teaser by introducing live animal shows prior to it's opening, and even more once it was open I would not only repave the parking lot, but I would get rid of those annoying paramount movie themed parking rows and replace them with SNOOPY ROW 1, WOODSTOCK ROW 45, etc. I would also repave the parks walkways. And in some cases, I would have the paved walkway removed, and replace it with a nice brickwalk, laden with newly planted trees and flowers. I would repaint my rides, and I would put more money into maintenance I would make a strict rule that enforces that in order to rent a wheelchair, you must actually need a wheelchair, so that teenagers don't rent them just so that they can move to the front of the lines. This would also make sure that the chairs would be available for those who actually DO NEED THEM. I would most certainly have a Snoopy on Ice show, and introduce the Peanuts to the park, which would also include the opening of a Peanuts themed store. Most certainly, some of the new Nick themed rides, ( not all ) would be Re-themed to the Peanuts characters. Along with this would be an honorary plaque devoted to Charles Schultz. I would wait a couple of years to ( purposely ) make the park lose some attention, and to take the time to physically study my new park, and find out where a new major attraction would best be present. Then I would intentionally build a coaster that is taller than Vortex, and faster than any ride in the park, but I would intentionally hold back, and keep the parks fanbase begging for more. The following year, I would make another ride, which would break records in other parks, but intentionally hold back from some of the characteristics from my 1st major coaster. This way, people can choose which they prefer the most, but both should be incredibly enjoyable. And to complete my "TRILOGY" of expectation, the 3rd coaster that I would build at the park would be something that nobody has ever seen before. It would be a record breaker of sheer magnitude, that would contain some of the benefits of the first two coasters, but have a style of speed, height, and motion all it's own. Then I would hold off for at least a few more years, focusing more on landscaping, and some smaller rides, and shows, before getting back into the ballgame of major roller coasters. I would build a skylift that runs from the Eiffel Tower to Boomerang Bay, and back again.
  8. I'm gonna revive the topic about the ruining of Kings Islands landscaping. And I think that we all know the king of slaughter in this department. Italian Job, Stunt Track.....This is the biggest piece of crap imaginable. And right after they started using the Old Time Cars in FearFest, on Route 666. Which, by the way, was a great themed ride. But now, sadly, the pond has been drained, and that nice and relaxing ( and rather attractive view ) of the Old Time Cars is gone. And only to be replaced with a junkyard appearance pointless roller coaster that personally, I would have rather seen built, NOWHERE!!!!! I would have preferred that Kings Island simply did not add anything new last year at all in comparison to this thing that they have killed the view from atop the Eiffel Tower with. And everyone says that the crappy looking stuff does not even work. I don't know, because I refuse to ride it, in my own little protest against the decision to tear down the Cars to put up this pointless concrete nightmare. Cedar Fair should tear this one down, and plant some trees, and grow a garden. Anything would be better than Italian Job standing where it is, or anywhere. K.C.
  9. You know, I don't usually keep reading long reports. Mostly due to the fact (honestly) that most people are not capable of keeping it interesting. But you know what Avatar? That was a really good report! You should be a writer or something. K.C.
  10. Some time ago, I decided to add my very 1st entry onto this site. I did so because I had always fealt that Kings Island had been ran very poorly by Paramount. This forum was entitled "Kings Island vs. Paramounts Kings Island, Did P.K.I. ruin values of K.I.?" And at the time, prior to the sale, the responses to my claim were at the very least, extraordinarily negative. Nearly everyone attacked me for daring to come out and say that Paramount was running park in an inappropriate manner. However, now, many people (YES I UNDERSTAND NOT ALL!!!!! ) are saying in many ways the very same thing that I said several months ago. I am wondering if they are mad that C.B.S. sold the park, or if they have actually thought about it and truly believe (now, or maybe even then) that the park was brought downhill by the company. Cedar Fair....PLEASE.....REVIEW THE PARKS HISTORY.....TAKE WHAT YOU LIKE, and KEEP IT or BRING IT BACK. Take what you don't like, and GET RID OF IT!!!!!, and add your own touch of WHAT YOU THINK THAT IT NEEDS!!!!! TO BE BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!!! And please get rid of the PARAMOUNT name once and for all.
  11. The National Anthem should be played prior to the daily opening of the park. It shows support for our troops, and we should display our thanks for being in the United States. I strongly support Cedar Fair doing this with Kings Island. It is one of those things that just makes a big difference in the parks mood and feel. Older people will probably feel more at ease at the park if it opens with this too. SeaWorld opens their day with the National Anthem, and guests actually do stop and stand still for the duration. I don't know about other people, but it makes me feel good about where I decided to spend my money and time for the day when I hear it played. I have always enjoyed going to a Cincinnati Reds game and hearing it played too. This reminds me, in the new Shamu show "Believe" at SeaWorld, the first thing that they do is show a video showing tribute to those serving in the U.S. Military on their new M***ive plasma screens, followed by the trainers asking for those present who either have served are serving to stand and be applauded, and these people are also shown on the screens. I think that it is a really good thing that the park does this. These individuals do need to be respected for all that they do for the country. Sounds like Cedar Fair is taking Kings Island into the right direction to me! K.C.
  12. Well, I made my trip to Wild Adventures in Valdosta Georgia! And I have to say that I was impressed. When leaving Valdosta Georgia take exit 13 and make a right off of I-75 to spend a day at Georgia's best kept secret! The park has 9 roller coasters, and 3 of them are large steel. The others range in the kiddie coaster area, but they look good. Of these small coasters there is a ride called Bug Out. This is a mouse coaster kind of like fast cat ( wild cat ) at Cedar Point. Another coaster that they have is a ride called Swamp Thing. This ride is very similar to Rugrats Runaway Reptar at Kings Island, only the theming is more simple. Its a dark green family coaster, only at Wild Adventures, it is built over the water. And there are real life alligators in that body of water. And unlike Kings Island, the ride is ran through twice in a row every time to make up for the rides short length. Another great ride was Hangman. This ride is almost as twisted as Vortex, except for Hangman is suspended, and moves at 70 m.p.h. The park was also very clean. And the theming in the park is outstanding and fun. When you place these two categories in with the fact that the park probably had some of the nicest associates that I have ever seen in a park anywhere, it makes for a very good outcome. Oh yea, and the water park, SPLASH ISLAND! This water park has it all. A nice big wave pool, a lazy river, massive water slides, and inner tube slides, again friendly associates, and just simply provides a fun atmosphere. Then there are the animal shows. The wild animal african/australian safari was spectacular, and even runs under one of their coasters "Cheetah" for an additional great view of the ride. The animals all had plenty of room to roam, and they were also not hard to see. And the driver would stop the tram so that you could take pictures, and she would educate everyone a little bit about what species they were looking at. And the animal shows were great. One host let me hold a Yellow Anaconda"!!!!! This was great, and on top of all of this, when you pay for one day's admission ticket, you get a second day free. And something a little bit on the odd side, but still fun, was the virtual simulator ride. Which was SpongeBob SquarePants 3-D! Yep, its the same ride that has graced Kings Island's simulator for a few years now. Only at the end at Wild Adventures, when the fish blows up as a result of being allergic to pickles, you get sprayed with water, followed by a true display of bubbles. I don't remember ever actually being sprayed with water at Kings Island. But anyways, it was a great trip, and me and my girlfriend had a lot of fun. I want to go back someday, and I recommend if anyone has an extra day to go to Wild Adventures, that you do so. The park is great, and once again the associates were all super friendly, and the parks atmosphere was great. They put a lot of work into designing the rides and themed areas here. There is also a great ride called "Australian River Adventure" which is similar to White Water Canyon. And they have an amphitheatre for concert events. Wild Adventures reminded me a lot of what Kings Island was like before Paramount bought it, which really made me really enjoy this place. Of course everything had it's own originality, which was great, including a walk through zoo. Wild Adventures also features a Halloween show during weekends in October called "Phobia" and a Christmas celebration called "Hometown Christmas" during December. K.C.
  13. They actually had a Bucky the beaver sketch on Vortex!!! Signs of Cedar Fair everywhere. I'm not that familiar with Bucky, but I do know that when you are on the boat ride at Cedar Fair, the automated beaver that chews down the tree is named Bucky. I only remember this because I recorded the boat ride, and the tour guide exclaims that "Bucky's been workin on that tree all day" then the tree falls and he is like "that a boy Bucky" Kinda pointless, but I think that it is kinda neat. K.C.
  14. I am going to make a comment about the animal cruelty claim by Bowser. I have never heard about any such claim before. And believe me, I keep myself very informed about zoological facilities from both the past and the present. It has been a while since I have been to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, but I am quite sure that this AZA approved zoo recognizes the accomplishments achieved at Kings Island in an informative section of the park entitled C.R.E.W. or the Center for Research of Endangered Wildlife. Wild Animal Habitat once sustained very successful breeding programs. Some of which have not been matched by any other facility to date. I find it very unlikely that the park which proudly displayed the Lion Country Safari to the public could have been in the least bit responsible for animal cruelty. And besides, I remember these animal shows like they were yesturday. The dolphins and seals displayed performed well every time that I got to see the shows. Very well. So well in fact that I have been wanting to work with these and other animals ever since. And that is what I am going to school to do now. But what I am trying to say is that animals do not appear healthy or perform healthy if they are kept in poor conditions. So I highly doubt that Kings Island is guilty of such an act. K.C.
  15. You guys are going to miss a great concert. My girlfriend took me to see LeAnn Rimes on my birthday back in February at "Silver Springs" in Ocala Florida. She puts on a really good show. Probably one of the few people who can actually really sing well, while performing live. K.C.
  16. I went to Kings Island just over a week ago for my first and only time this year. And just yesturday, I went to Sea World Orlando. And if you have heard any hype about their new SHAMU show......"BELIEVE".......BELIEVE IT!!!!! IT'S AWESOME I went to see the "Making of Believe" a few months ago during a Zoo Technology class trip, and I thought that it looked like it was going to be a phenominal show then. Now, after seeing the full show, I can say that they have trained these Killer Whales to do some pretty amazing stunts. Not that their old show was not amazing. They interact more with the trainers now. And 3 whales are involved with the show. It is incredible to see 3 Killer Whales rise out of the water and onto a platform at the same time. On top of all of this, they have added 4 massive plasma screens to help the show move along. These things move left and right, and rotate 360 degrees. And their are new lighting effects, and their is a new soundtrack that is just amazing. If you get a chance to go to Sea World anytime soon, I highly reccomend that you check out "BELIEVE"!!!! I remember when Kings Island used to put on great shows with Seals and Dolphins, back when they had the Wild Animal Habitat. It's a shame that they do not do this anymore. Anyways, I am planning a trip in about a week to "Wild Adventures" in Valdosta Georgia. I have never been to this park before, and I have never talked to any more than a few people who had. I have looked it up online, and I have looked at a park map. " It surprisingly looks a lot like what Kings Island looked like pre-paramount. With an animal safari, a large number of roller coasters, wooden and steel, a kids area, animal shows, themed areas and all. This makes me really want to visit this park. My question is has anyone been to "Wild Adventures" before? And if so, would you tell me what it is like in your opinion? Thanks for any input.
  17. Umm fairs arnt safe but people always go to them and nothing really is wrong with sob, always say, the jerkyer the better! I have a feeling that your scared to ride the ride and have never rode it, what im tryin to say is, !!shut up Kong fu guy!! The jerkyer the better. And on top of this, you are telling someone to shut up simply because you do not like what it is that they have to say. I am not telling you to shut up. BUT I DO ASK THAT YOU KEEP READING To begin with, that was an incredibly immature statement. What you need to realize is that when certain things happen, like say someone goes to an amusement park and obeys all rules set forth to have a safe and fulfilling day. This person is sober. They are not doing anything to hurt themselves or others. And yet, as a result of doing something as simple as sitting down on a roller coaster, a ride that people have been getting on and off of safely all day, right before your eyes, you return to the station and the next thing that you know, you are being sent to the hospital with a broken bone. An actual physical injury caused by what was advertised to you to be safe. Now, any other plans that you may have had are gone. You are seperated from your family. And you might be on vacation far from your home, with no idea how to tell anyone directions to your hospital, or anything. And chances are that this injury will weaken her for the rest of her life, even after it heals. And all that you can worry about is when this ride that can be replaced is going to reopen. For that matter, who even cares if it is replaced. I personally don't care if it reopens. If you do, I can understand clinging onto good memories. I have great memories of riding the Son of Beast. But I also feel that it is unforgivable when someone gets hurt. It is a blessing that nobody was killed. If they rebuild the track, I pray for peoples safety that they do it correctly. If they decide at some point to destroy the ride, I am all for that decision. Moreso than the 1st. Imagine yourself being behind what you consider to be the nicest car that you have ever seen. One that you would love to have. And then, suddenly the car goes out of control and wrecks. Would you stop and think to yourself, Oh I hope that the car is alright. or would you think, Oh, I hope that those people are alright. This sounds kinda goofy right. Well, your statement about the Son of Beast incident makes you seem like you are the kind of person that would be more worried about the car.
  18. Of course Cedar Fair is going to make changes. They have pulled the plug for WinterFest, at least for the 2006 season. They have made the final decision that Paramount's new attraction for 2007 will be risen into reality. At Paramounts Kings Dominion, "Flight of Fear" which has been closed all year, and rumored to be for sale or actually for sale ( whatever ) is getting a makeover and is supposed to actually be up and running before the end of August. This owner has made a decision to correct the issue with Son of Beast, and they are also correcting an issue ( less serious) with "Volcano" at Kings Dominion. Associate handbooks have already been issued to upper management at paramounts Kings Island, and probably the other parks as well. The parks hold their current essence on cedarfair.com and Cedar Fair has announced that the two sister parks Kings Island and Kings Dominion will keep their names. FearFest is supposed to get an upgrade, and Cedar Fair has announced that even though a season pass for the 06 season is not going to occur, a season pass to Cedar Point and Kings Island is in the making for 2007. People are complaining about not getting free parking included with the early purchase of a season pass to Kings Island for 2007. WELL JUST WAIT A LITTLE LONGER AND UPGRADE THAT PARKING PASS WITH Cedar Point ADMISSION. Cedar Fair management is also very present at the park itself. Give them time.......They will make Kings Island what it used to be. The way that a lot of people are too young to remember. If they do this, and I am sure that this company will. You will never look back at Paramount. K.C. <-- Look out for Maverick
  19. I was just on the Kings Dominion website, and it says that "Volcano" is now under investigation for debris hitting riders after being shot out of the themed volcano. The only thing paramount did right was selling the parks to Cedar Fair, somebody, anybody!!!!! Cedar Fair has a lot of cleaning up to do.
  20. 2 years ago, I purchased some Hurricane Glasses from the park that actually had the old Kings Island logo on them. Some merch maint. associates were digging through an old trailer out in the scrapyard ( where most of Hanna Barbera Land now rests, along with much of the parks history ) and they found a couple boxes of these glasses dated 1992, and the park sold them all for 1 dollar a piece!!!!! I could not help but to make the purchase. I also collect maps, I have every park map from 1989 and up. The only other items that I buy from Kings Island are keychains, keyhole photo photos, shotglasses, and the occasional t-shirt.
  21. I agree. Riding "The Beast" at night is a great way to end your day at the park. And I prefer the front seat of any roller coaster. ( the front seat is highly unique on "Expedition Everest" at Disney's Animal Kingdom ) And if I can give some advice. While you are going through the double helix don't look straight ahead. Instead, look to the right. You can see the trees fly by you through the gaps in the tunnel and it looks like some kind of unnatural strobe. Very intense. Also, it has only happened a couple of times that I have seen, but if you can get "The Wave" started from the front of the train to the back. That makes the lifthill more fun too. kc
  22. Actually, it is kind of a weird situation. Cedar Fair has already released an early edition of it's "Employment Handbook" to upper management. After visiting the park on Monday ( after my long drive from Florida ) my good friend allowed me to take a look at one of these handbooks. Folks, there are some major changes coming in the parks direction. Everything from age requirement to dress code is about to change dramatically. I know that they have not released this handbook to the associates yet, so I probably should not give away much of what I read. I am sure that Cedar Fair management has a plan on delivering much of what is yet to come in their own fashion. But having formerly worked in the sales office myself, I can say that BIG CHANGES ARE COMING. What I am willing to tell you, because I feel you have the right to know is that recieving a demotion at Kings Island is the least of your worries if you are not 18 years of age. Bottom line is that Cedar Fair wants to serve a professional environment for its guests, and lets face it, ( there are a lot of jobs that can't be done by minors ) Handling chemicals, lifting certain objects, operating machinery, entering freezers, on top of the fact that longer lunches are required for minors than for adults and lunches are required sooner for minors than for adults. ( and not in everybody's case, but there are the occasional individuals who aren't exactly mature enough to handle any professionalism at all. ) Not that some adults don't fit this category either. The above stated reasons are not the ones indicated by Cedar Fair, but they are just my guess as to the new actions being taken by the owners. But the handbook clearly states that NOONE under the age of 18 is to be eligable for employment through Cedar Fair. Not management, or supervisory positions.....ANYTHING I can only imagine that to replace any minors during the summertime would require the use of international associates who are 18 years of age, much like what Cedar Point itself is highly operated by. As well as attracting a larger adult crowd to the park. ( I am not saying that it is right, I am just trying to make a guess at what will happen. ) I do not know if this affects persons already employed by Cedar Fair, or if it only affects the prohibiting employment of persons under 18 in the future. This is what I read. Doubt me if you want to. I am not expecting for anyone to like it. But this is what it says.
  23. Kings Islands next coaster is going to break the speed record ... A major roller coaster, some big flats, maybe a simulator, everything with a very "spy-tech" look and feel This is from an article I managed to get a hold of. I would print the rest, but I wanted to see if anyone had interest first.
