I've heard some great rumors. I heard that the park is gonna sell alcohol to minors to make up for lost profits I heard that the park is gonna start printing up their own fake Disney Passes for Profit. I heard that the 1/3 replica Eiffel Tower is gonna be tore down and replaced with a 2/3 replica. But then I also heard that the Eiffel Tower at Kings Dominion is being dismantled to be replaced with Kings Islands Eiffel Tower, and Kings Island's with Kings Dominion's. I heard that they are gonna build another Beast in the Woods side by side with the other. And in some cases, overlapping, and it's gonna be named "Beauty" Ergo the park would have "Beauty" and "The Beast" I heard that the park is gonna build a roller coaster alongside I-71 and it is gonna run all of the way to Cincinnati, and will provide transportation to and from the city and the park. I heard that the park is actually going to hire talented people to create, sing, dance, write, and direct Kings Island's Shows. I heard that Kings Island is going to have the coaster with the most vertical loops, the most helixes, the tallest lifthills, the fastest speed, seats for the most passengers, and it is going to be 1/2 Wooden, 1/2 steel, and at some point it is going to flip around and become suspended, while the seats all rotate at 360 Degrees, while going through a series of tunnels and bunny hills, after successfully entering an enclosed tunnel that goes under water in a pool full of sharks. lol.....K.C.

Much like Nick Universe, WinterFest was contracted to the park for a number of years. I believe that it was 4. So I really don't see anything happening to WinterFest any time soon. But I have heard rumors of not renewing the contract. In that case it would be kinda sad. Getting rid of WinterFest was the 1st action that Paramount ever made with the park. I would hate to see it be a 1st for Cedar Fair too.

I don't mean to ruin your happy streak. But if you could ride the Son of Beast 15 times during the 4th of July weekend. A time of the year when the park is admitting peak crowds, then that should tell you something about either the park itself or about the rides reputation. In this case, I am willing to go towards the direction of the rides reputation. Everyone knows that this ride is rough. ( not normal rough. ) Look through all of the defenses for the ride on this site and at extremepki.com and you will read time and time again that this is a rough ride. I mean, even it's biggest and most diehard fans say that "Well it's not so bad if you hang on and know what's coming" I remember reading that somewhere. But that defies the entire point of a ride. Which is to give excellent memorable experiences to first time riders. And to develop a fanbase. True the rides done that. Both for and against. The last time that I rode this ride was almost one year ago. And I can say that I will pretty much ride just about any type of amusement ride out there, but I will never ride the Son of Beast again. And not just because of this new occurance. But because the ride gave me a headache, and my back hurt for hours after getting off of the ride. And please keep in mind that I do not have any pre-existing back problems. And I am not someone that has just ridden this thing once and decided, screw that! I have ridden this ride countless multiple times. And on occasion during the 2nd and the 3rd year the ride was up, you might have gotten lucky and recieved a less painful experience. Somehow or another, after this point the ride seemed to constantly get worse. And after my ride in August in 2005, I promised myself, never again. I think that it would not be such a bad idea to actually go as far as to remove the Son of Beast from coaster history. It is a painful thought. But there is an element to the ride that insists that someone eventually is really going to get hurt.

Ok so "Beastality" sounds awkward. I had an Old Mortal Kombat 3 end command going through my head.

I would have to say " tear it down" and in the location that "The Paramount Story" is now, put up a small museum like feature of the history of Kings Island. The records that the park has had, and the failures. Pictures of rides like Eagles, Smurfs, King Cobra, and Bat, as well as designers, concept art, a list of owners and the "highlights or their ownership". And right in the middle could be a tribute to the once great Son of Beast.

What is yor favorite KI ride that is not there?
king_cobra_27 replied to troubled_diva's topic in Kings Island
The Smurfs Enchanted Voyage, King Cobra, Antique Cars, Flying Eagles, Wild Animal Habitat. -
I will be making my first trip to Kings Island this year on the 30th of July. Regretably, I did visit the park last year to witness perhaps the worst landscaping decision ever made by the park. Italian Slop: Crap Track. This piece of junk looks just like a big scrapyard, especially from atop the Eiffel Tower. I would give so much to see it go. It just ruins the entire atmosphere of walking back into the park. It was one of the few qualities of the park that gave it, shall I say, ( A Cedar Fair ATMOSPHERE) when the antique cars were there. I am looking forward to seeing the things that Paramount saved Cedar Fair the liberty of having to remove themselves. Like the T.V.'s in the Festhaus, and I've heard that the t.v.'s are gone throughout the park too. (Is that true?) One other thing that I am looking forward to (although at the same time it will be kind of sad) is Cedar Fair (hopefully) changing the music down International Street. Honestly, they have played the same music for over a decade. With the exception of the soundtrack for the Nick Parade. But, just the same, I am looking greatly forward to going to Kings Island this year. Sorry to hear about the Son of Beast. I would not have rode this ride anyways, because the last time I rode it, ( a year ago in August ) the ride felt like it was ripping my stomach through my heart. But for those of you who love it like religion. I am sorry that Paramount was not more responsible when deciding to build this Beast. On another note, they should change the name of "Fairly Odd Parents" back to "The Beastie". And they should build a "Beast Lives" or something.

Kings Island vs. Paramount's Kings Island
king_cobra_27 replied to king_cobra_27's topic in KI Polls
Well, in light of the Son of Beasts accident, and other speculation now occuring. I feel that this is kind of an open topic.....AGAIN..... -
Paramount screwed us to the end! Paramount Screwed us and didn't use lube! <G> This kinda goes with my topic from some time ago.... Kings Island vs. Paramounts Kings Island. Did P.K.I. ruin the values of K. I. doesn't it?????

This is from a topic about The Vortex back on page 10 by the way.

Hey, if your gonna attack someone for spreading rumors. At least have the courtesty to know what it is you are talking about. I was there. I worked at the park that day. The entire park was in an uproar. Associates were instructed not to say anything to media. I respect your opinion. But the ride was stuck upside down due to a power failure. And besides, you are missing my point. Which is that these things happen. Its the only way to avoid the problem with future attractions. I'm not attacking Kings Island for acts of god beyond anyones control. Instead I am praising the managements strength to move on and put incidents like this behind the park.

I remember the last day that I worked at P.K.I. It was in October of 2004. The very last thing that I ever had to do for the park was notify security of a little boy who had been hurt on the Son of Beast. The mother was demanding a supervisor in my shop, and I responded. She claimed that her son was having problems walking on his own after riding the ride. She said that he did not have any pre-existing back problems, and the child was taken by P.K.I. paramedics to Cincinnati for treatment. I will never forget that incident. Sadly, I do not know whatever happened to that boy. I moved away the next week. I can only assume that he turned out to be ok, because I never heard anything more about it. If anything happened on S.O.B., then I feel deeply sorry for anyone who would require medical treatment. After all, it is a powerful ride, which does not exactly run smooth even on a good day. Hopefully Cedar Fair will give the necessary attention to the ride that it needs to maintain a safe environment. And I do have to agree with some of the other statements. Accidents do and can happen on these types of rides. But chances are that the maintenance crews learn from them, and keep them from repeating in the future. Kings Island has had a long history of people getting hurt on rides. In 95, "The Vortex" was stuck upside down for hours, full of passengers, who were later rushed to the hospital. "The Bat" was infamous for whiplash. Notice that The Bat is no longer at the park. "King Cobra" hurt several people through the years. Eight people suffered injury when the train derailed in 1984. But again, it's gone. I rode "Son of Beast" as a test dummy on it's 1st day of operation and I can honestly say that I wish that I hadn't. My back was in a lot of pain for about 2 weeks after riding it. Of course the "Son of Beast" was shut down and had sections reconstructed for months after it's 1st day of operation. My point is that the park will move on. These things happen. I feel sorry for the victims, but most rides will have problems. It is through the grace of god that they are mostly not serious.

Since they own the rights, there is obviously no reason to rush through the process. I believe very strongly that the Paramount Logo will be taken from the parks at the beginning of the 2007 season. Season Passes will most likely be amongst the 1st to change appearances, and the sign by the highway. (since it bears the design of the paramount studios gate) I honestly don't expect for them to make a lot of changes to the rides names right away. They will probably do this a few at a time, as they decide how they want to theme the areas ( if they choose to theme them at all. ) Obviously, the 1st non-movie title ride since Son of Beast will be whatever new attraction is built or whatever attractions are built for the 2007 operating season. I expect to see better landscaping, including more flowers in the park. And I expect to see it in what is now "The Paramount Story" And I can imagine walking through the park on opening day next year and having flags flapping in the wind where paramount logos once stood, and In my opinion, one of the biggest shockers will probably be an entirely new font of Kings Island printed before the Royal Fountain as soon as you enter the park. That photo spot will be forever changed. What do you think? Agree or Disagree.........

What if you bought KI - what to do with NU?
king_cobra_27 replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
It looks as though ( for now ) that they might actually keep it. Earlier this week, on cedarfair.com the newly aquired parks were listed as Kings Island, Kings Dominion, etc.... on their map. They have changed that now to where it includes the title Paramount's Kings Island, Paramount's Kings Dominion, etc. Unless it was simply a typo error to begin with. -
That sounds like, uhhh, a personal disclosure. <G> Imagine if the Viking Fury could not only spin a total 360. But could also tilt forward and backwards while it was doing it, while inside, in the dark. Thats Tomb Raider..... K.C.

I would keep Nick Universe. But I would bring in a nick attraction for some of the "older kids in the park" ( other than Spongebob of course ) And I am talking only about "Ren and Stimpy" I mean come on. These characters are the dawn of Nick Toons. The original Timon and Pumbaa ( well kinda ) And does anyone remember the old Warner Bros. Studio Stores. Or go in the Disney Stores. They need to have an exclusive store that carries a large gallery of autographed animation cells from Nickelodeon. That would make the Nick U. complete for me. K.C. -
I agree 100% no, wait, 200% The Wild Animal Habitat is probably the biggest loss that Kings Island has ever gone through. With the exception of the original slaughtering of Winterfest. Paramount's biggest decisions were at the start of its rule over the park. And these decisions were also among the worst for the park. EVER! In the first few years alone, Paramount destroyed almost all of the unique values that Kings Island contained. And they took a very pleasant family atmosphere ( almost like Wild Adventures in Valdosta Georgia ) and made it into some crummy commercial. A giant commercial that you had to walk through.

Apparantly, someone must not have liked a response previously on this site. Oh Well. I don't know who the best associates are. Everyone appears to work equally as hard to me. But I can say who quite possibly could be the worst associate in the park. A fellow who works in merch. And in the sales office. His initials are S.R. And this individual has by far the most bizarre, unprofessional behavior that I have ever witnessed. Anywhere. Period. A man in his Thirties working amongst teens in college. Nothing against teens in college. ( I was One once. ) But my point is that noone of an age of true maturity would be willing to have anything to do with him. Now don't get me wrong. I love Kings Island. And once upon a time, I loved working for the park, and working with the people in the park. But some people simply have no place in a professional environment. And S.R. if you are reading this then you know who you are. Why don't you quit your Kings Island Job for something more suitable to your abilities. Labs always need a slow monkey to study for instance. I mean really, here you are almost double the age of the other associates. And you are the least responsible one there. For instance. You never seemed to fully understand the concept of having and or reaching a daily goal. I could simply go on about this forever. Bottom Line. Kings Island IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK. Everyone works their tails off at K.I. Everyone is GREAT to get to work with. But you S.R. Sorry buddy. This is it.

I would love to see the WAH come back to Kings Island. Everyone is saying that a monorail would not work. But I did'nt read anything that insisted on a monorail being a part of it. I think it could be great for a park like Kings Island to look for species that are endangered or critically endangered for a breeding program. Think about it. A park with animals that you cannot see at the Cincinnati Zoo or at the Columbus Zoo. It would be a real treat. For kids and adults alike. And it would certainly fit the Family Park Mood.

Does anyone remember what Kings Island was. It was a simple park. Descent. Clean. Fun. With a great atmosphere. And some of the best rides on the planet. The Vortex was a record breaker. The Beast was and still is a record breaker. Timberwolf was always holding concerts. The Smurfs graced Hanna Barbera Land. There was a safari ride. There was a boat ride. There was no fence around the fountain. Winterfest was celebrating CHRISTMAS. Now it seems more like a birthday party, where the Guest of Honor is not invited. Both trains always ran. There was a ride called KING COBRA. The Vortex's days were not numbered. It TRULY WAS A FAMILY PARK WITH FAMILY VALUES. NONE of the Merchandise was corrupted. There were dolphin and seal shows. I could go on and on. However since the taking over of the company, Paramount has removed the KING COBRA, they have removed the SAFARI, they have gotten rid of the animal shows. They have kept a low maintenance on the rides. DOES ANYONE REMEMBER NOT HITTING BRAKES ON The Beast IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RIDE?? They have pretty much abandoned TIMBERWOLF AMPHITHEATRE. NOW, for 2006, HANNA BARBERA LAND has been laid to rest. To make way for NICKELODEON. SURE I LOVE NICKELODEON, but who is to say that the new owners will want to keep it for long. I THINK A PARK LIKE SIX FLAGS WOULD REMOVE REPTAR AND SPONGEBOB TO MAKE WAY FOR BUGS AND DAFFY. The Vortex is on P.K.I.'s "to kill list" The campground is gone. The large log flume is gone. The ice skating shows in the FestHaus are gone. These annoying televisions are all over the park advertising PARAMOUNT MOVIES. I go to theme and amusement parks to forget about the outside world temporarily. And these T.V.'s are constantly reminding me of it. (wouldn't you stay at home to watch t.v. anyway) The old time cars have been replaced with a roller coaster that I did not even bother to stand in line to ride. And the old time cars were relaxing. Enjoyable. But they had to make way for a ride that from atop of the Eiffel Tower looks like a small junk yard. There goes the scenery. They introduced and removed the helicoptor tours. The Son of Beast is a great concept. But let's face it. IT'S NO BEAST. It should have been built with tunnels, and 2 or 3 lifthills. And to get the feel of "The Beast" they should have kept a lot of the ride running through the trees. But, oh well. And why doesn't Paramount tackle steel coaster records. Why isn't there something at least close to comparing with Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster. If Cedar Point can make room for it on their stretch of land, I think Kings Island could consider using some of the unused land that they could literally double their park with. Instead of tearing down the parks history to make room for new crap that probably won't even last.
