  1. This is such an incredible opportunity. I've always wanted to walk back around The Beast and in Flight of Fear. Son of Beast will just be gravy. I've already ordered my ticket, and I'll see you all on the 4th.
  2. Yes, you just walk in... when they open the doors of course. It really is a nice place to sit down and cool off for about a half-hour.
  3. When I was at KI for opening weekend, a bartender at Lt. Dan's said you may now drink alcohol anywhere in the park, not just in designated areas. People drinking in the lines are doing what they are allowed to do now. Perhaps we can just all hope they puke it back up on the ride, since they couldn't drink it all with their meal and walk some of it off.
  4. I agree with the people above regarding the "Please excuse our mess" signs by the VR attraction. I didn't see a thing going on last weekend. Nothing looked different to me. I'm glad to see something going on there, though, so I know that I wasn't losing my mind. A cool zone there would be really nice, especially if they do a better job of keeping it working, unlike previous owners.
  5. My first time at KI was like in 1998 or 1999. It was definately in the pre-SOB days. I had a couple years with King Cobra and the Phantom Theater. A friend of mine goes to KI every year for his birthday (same birth year as The Beast), and he introduced me to the park. I heard of (P)KIC from rcdb.com when I clicked on one of the site links for the park.
  6. When I was on WWC this weekend, I didn't see the machines that controlled the geysers. In fact, if you didn't know they existed at one point, you couldn't tell they were ever there. Looks like they may have been removed permanently. I sure hope not, though.

Can I buy a spell check, Pat? The only way I see Vortex closing is if there are so many physical problems with the ride, like what happened with King Cobra. Vortex still kicks my ass with its dizzying inversions, so it still has years of thrills in it. I think Top Gun will go before Vortex. Also keep in mind the amount of undeveloped land KI has. If CP is any indication, CF will develop that land with new signature coasters before they tear one down and replace it with new stuff. Just my $.02.
  8. No, the safety belts on Vortex and Top Gun are not a problem for me, and I'm 6'2, 285-ish. The flap is on a small coil on the seat, and is about 6" long. It's not fixed like it is on Face/Off, but does have some play in it. The safety belts do not affect the quality of the ride one bit. BTW, if any of you on here were working the viking ship today with the group doing the "Marco Polo" and "Chuck Norris," that was me and my friends.
  9. Well, I live 2 hours away and can't get there before the season opener. I just would like to know if I can get in the park with the temp pass on the 21st. That way, I can pick and choose my time to get the new pass, like before the park closes. It would be nice if they have a bypass line for people who already processed the passes last year or in the off season with their pictures already taken.
  10. How are the temporary season passes issued at the end of last season going to be dealt with? Do we have to get permanent ones processed? If so, is there a deadline? Can we still get in the park with the temps? Thanks in advance.
  11. That looks so sexy! Everything about it looks awesome, even the nuts and bolts. I can't wait to ride that animal (almost said "that beast," but that would show disrespect to the best coaster in all the land).
  12. I don't know about the Eiffel Tower, but I usually dry my hair on The Beast. For my feet, I usually go on Face/Off, shoeless of course.
  13. I wasn't on the ride at the time, but I saw Face/Off roll back on the loop the second time through. My friend and I heard a loud clank when the car was supposed be pulled up the second hill, and the car slowly descended the hill, got about 1/3 of the way up the loop, then settled in the bottom of the track.
  14. King Cobra, even though I almost fell out of it before they added the strap across the shoulder pads.
  15. I'd bet that the trains come with some type of warrenty or something that would be void if the trains were run in a manner that was unintended by the manufacturer. That's what I thought. I have seen that episode of CSI where they talked about the chain dogs and whatnot and figured it would be a royal PITA to turn a train backward. This guy seemed hell-bent on saying he rode The Beast backward. Not only would you have had to do all that work to turn a train around, but do it all again turning it back to running forward.
  16. Someone told me the other day they rode The Beast backward during FearFest 2005. Did they actually turn one of the trains around, or is he jerking my chain? It would be so awesome to ride that thing backward.
  17. CPR and First Aid aren't even licenses. You get a certificate for successfully completing the courses. Beware of using Internet sites as sources for a research paper, as many are not credible sources.
  18. Don't be so discouraged with The Beast. There are some brakes that have been installed recently that do scrub some speed and airtime, but it still has the ability to tame its riders. I personally love the ride. Next time you go, try riding it at night. The Beast seems to crank it up another notch at night.
  19. I was at KI on July 28 with a couple friends. We rode Top Gun 5 times in a row without so much as releasing the OTSR. The ride ops even stopped checking us since we never got off. They just laughed at us. I didn't think they minded too much since we were increasing their ride numbers (not much, I know, but every little bit helps). We then did back-to-back-to-back rides on Adventure Express and back-to-back rides on forward Racer. I've never had a problem reriding if no one was in line waiting.
