  1. It just annoys me when people complain even though they spend millions a year in park improvements.Yeah I agree maybe they should fix up this and add that. But I'm grateful that they try to keep the place looking nice. You kinda remind me of my x-wife I kept giving and giving but she still wanted more....LOL
  2. Well, the train ride is primarily transportation back n forth to the waterpark.Back in the old days when it was a "ride" I can understand them mataining the theming. But just because they havent kept up with it all of a sudden the park is cheap?Come on now they spend millions on new rides and improvements everyear. Why dont you just go to CP all the time, and then that will be one less person in line in front of me.
  3. Mine will probably be the "THE URINATOR" lol it seens i always gotta go to the bathroom when I walk into the park. But seriously its usually Top Gun It kinda gets me ready for the more extreme stuff.
  4. O.K. yes I thought the barrel rolls were good. The first drop was also good. but other than that,It was very ho hum been their done that.Maybe if PKI put in a flyer and themed it unlike SFWOA's where in they droped it in the parking lot.The one time I was there it was so funny they had a vagrant walking around under the ride collecting loose money and they had to call security. (I still think a Flyer or and Invert over the lake behind the antique cars would be a great idea feet dangeling over the water or face down over the water)
  5. What I ment by the Flyers being like standups is this. When the stand-ups came out everyone was all hyped to ride one.Every did and now there popularity has declined(kinda like the expresion been there done that next)So flyers in my oppinion are like that. Ive ridden a flyer and really didn't think it was all that and if I never ride another one I won't be upset. Kinda like been there done that.
  6. I found a link to a ride review and the person who wrote it says he was there on opening day for The Beast. He has a very great way of wrighting and its very well written. heres the link http://www.thrillride.com/SpecialFeatures/Beast/beast.html
  7. I thought someone said The Beast never had a yellow to red fade and it was a mess up in the photo that was posted saying it did have it.I'm still new to the park so I'm not sure if it did or not.Heck you could tell me it was pink with purple bows painted on the front and I'd have to believe you.But I could of sworn somewhere I read it was always red.
  8. I would also like to extend a Safe and Happy Holiday season to everyone from the JAMZ-FAMILY here in Pittsburgh.Next up the long and cold reality of "WINTER" sets in for a few months,Hopefully it goes quick and we can all be back at the park enjoying the sun -n- fun.
  9. And a reply to Special K .Lets Go Steelers.....I bet you never thought you would be rooting for the Steelers LOL
  10. Well I don't see it going anywhere except the scrap yard.I never had the chance to ride it but I'm hoping to make it to PKD next summer to ride theirs.I feel for you guys that were attached to the ride We had the same type of situation here in Pittsburgh with Kennywood when they anounced they were removing the Steel Phantom. They had web sites "save the phantom" but it didnt help I was heart broken when I watched them cut it down and haul it out in the back of a dump truck. Although they kept part of the ride its still not the same.Look at Busch Gardens when they tried for 2 years to sell Drachen Fire ($400,000.00Very cheap for a full circuit arrow looper) and nobody bought it and they scraped it.So i'm guessing the market for used steel coasters aint all that good.
  11. As far as bashing TTD I never rode it.But from looking at it I'm in no hurry to ride it.For that matter I'm in no hurry to ride Hypesonic. I neen more than height or speed. But as for people bashing it well it stands to reason. They are claiming its the tallest and fastest which it is.But its probably one of the shortest when it comes to ride duration. Not to mention the 3 hour wait to get on it.When you stake the claim you open yourself up to bashing. If I could ride any ride. I would be on the first flight to Japan and be riding Steel Dragon. But hey thats just my oppinion.
  12. First I think the flying coasters are a fad just like the stand up coasters were.Ive rode X-Flight at SFWOA 3 times and I think it sucks. The "flying position" is very uncomfortable. The restraints are a time comsuming pain in the butt not to mention painful on your legs. The ride itself is quite impressive to look at not to mention the automation on each train looks really cool.(im sure to a lay person like me it does, but to a park tech im sure its a nightmare) The ride was very disorienting the flip you over onto your back to go through the loop then back over into the flying position for the rest of the ride "I felt like a darn omlet!" Cant they make a loop that the train rides on the outside of the loop instead of the inside? Not to mention the last time I rode it I was sitting out on the brake run for 15 mins on my back "I was starting to have an anxity attack!" While they were having problems with the train in the station. But Im sure if PKI got one I'm sure they would opperate it to its fullest potential unlike SFWOA. I was there 3 different times and they never had more than 2 cars running at one time and only one station opperating. The line for the ride was 60 mins plus everytime I was there. But then again SFWOA is always understaffed.
  13. Ive only seen one transfer track (X-FLIGHT SFWOA) and I never seen them use it they have two stations but everytime ive ever been there theve only used one side of the station. But looking at it it seemed pretty cool the way it was designed and I wish I could of seen it work.
  14. I have to agree with the fact that it looks like an erector set.But I'm sure if it were painted, themed, and put into a park with other rides and such.It would look much better than it does sitting out in the parking lot of S&S.From what they have said about it It will be affordable and not take up a lot of land.(kinda like a Vetoma Boomerang) I can see them getting one but not next year or the next. With it being a prototype new ride design I'm sure they will want some other park to try it out and see how it does. But I wouldnt rule it out completly in the future.
  15. Me I surf the web for any new or interesting news about amusement parks.Watch the coaster shows and such on T V.Drive really fast on this one road near my house it has some wicked ups and downs and if I get the Mini Van rolling at the right speed I can even get a little "AIRTIME" Somebody needs to get a countdown started on this site."Only 135 days till...." Well we will just have to tough it out through the long cold winter. THINK SPRING
  16. I was at the park several times this summer and in no way do I think the park was messy or unkept.Actually I think the park is quite clean.Have you ever been to 6 Flaggs WOA what a dumppy messy un-organized park.A whole bunch of unhappy employees who have no knowledge or personallity. We didnt even recieve a thank you from any of the employees .For that reason I will never go back there and its only 2 hrs. from my house as Kings Island is 6 hrs.
  17. Yes land could very wellbeen the issue with that ride.Seeing as where they put it I don't think much more would of fit there.Although I'm sure price had to factor into the decision as well.I bet they could of fit an Intamin impulse coaster in that same space but I'm sure the price of an Impulse is twice that of a Boomerang.
  18. Well yeah they could automate the track, and add a second train. And yes maybe it wouldn't take that long. But its a cost factor. They bought the vekoma boomerang because it was cheaper than a traditional full circuit coaster. With the added cost of 2 trains,a transfer track, and automation.Would it be worth buying it. It would be like putting 20 inch Dubs on a 1982 Chevette. Its still an 82 chevette. In the end your still gonna have a "STINKING VEKOMA BOOMERANG" Ive never ridden Face-Off besides the line being too long Boomerangs just don't do it for me if you've ridden one you've ridden em all.
  19. Im with you on this one MARS1825 Vekoma Boomerangs are built and designed to have one car. Vekoma markets them to be a "cheap, quick, dont take up a whole lotta space, cookie cutter coaster"It wouldnt be worth the time and effort not to mention the cost of a Transfer track. These rides are lower in price than a full circuit coaster which is why lots of parks buy them.adding a transfer track which probably would be do-able would add to the cost which in turn would put the price tag at or around the cost of a full circuit coaster.(In my oppinion I think a park would rather buy a full circuit as opposed to a boomerang any day) I dont think a transfer track would make the line move any quicker.because the time it would take to switch the cars in between runs would just add to the time.
  20. Im sure if they could get a sponsor for every ride in the park they would. its money in their pockets.More money more rides and improvements.Look at all the new Baseball and Football stadiums. All corperate sponsorships. Its all about money.Last year I was at 6 Flaggs woa and their log flume ride was named after some bottled water company.I thought that was really strange but I guess its just progress in action.Who knows.Next thing you know we will have Cottonelle sponsoring all the restrooms in a park. How about we get like Terminix to sponsor The Beast."NO TERMITES HERE" Just a thought.
  21. Its so strange someone mentioned that on here. Me and the wife were out yesteday(here in Pittsburgh) and she said to me "this weekend would of been a great weekend to go to Kings Island...If only they were open" Yeah the weathers been really strange lately. It was 71 degrees here yesterday. But rest asured today it dropped all day,and by 3 in the afternoon we had snow flurries. We were there the last weekend and couldn't believe how nice it was.We even rode Congo Falls. If they were open all year long they wouldn't have any time to fix things and put in new rides. Can't wait till spring!!
  22. And also I almost forgot to add this, as you will notice in my favorite steel coaster Steel Phantom R.I.P. It was the only looping hyper coaster and it was an arrow.I really miss the ride and The Vortex is as close as I can get to re-living the Rough Arrow Experience. Same cars as Vortex, same Feel ,Same roughness ,and it has the same signature boomerang loop. LONG LIVE ARROW LOOPERS
  23. I don't see it going anywhere soon. Its a great coaster.A little rough but people still flock to it year in and year out.My only problem with it is the brake stop before the corkscrew.I think it goes way to slow through the corkscrews and you can actually feel your body(shoulders) hit the restraints as you navigate threw the inversions.I think it needs to be going a little faster through them so you dont have that feeling.Im sure it almost stops the cars there to inable three car operation.(Maybe someone can shed some light on that) Also I was there on the last two days of opperationNov.1st & 2nd and noticed that some of the over the shoulder restraints were very loose(able to move them a good 4-6 inches away from my body) I dont ever recall them being that loose before.Scared the crap out of my 11 year old daughter who was sitting next to me though! Is that normal? It wasnt in all the seats for I rode it three times them 2 days and only noticed it one time.
  24. As everyone else has stated on this site many times before I would love a coaster. But a good flat ride wouldn't be bad either. A Zamperella hawk would be great. They have one at Kennywood Park.It don't take up alot of room. Its always has a line.Very reridable.Maybe theme it to "Footloose" That would be a great name for it.Here is Zamperellas site check it out. http://www.zamperlarides.com/main/ Its called hawk its in the spectacular ride section.
  25. Mine will be spent working.and then after the holidays its time to start the "Amusement Park Slush Fund" Try to put some money away I I'm hoping this year to do Kings Dominion as well as Kings Island.Hey maybe even a little Mini weekend without the kids and do Carowinds. Oh well its going to be a long winter but before you know it it will be "Coaster Season" again.
