  1. What I'm saying is that there's a video on the internet that shows the ride from up close, so standing out in the parking lot in the cold, wind and rain to catch a video of it cresting the tops of the hills just seems groundless to me. Then again, I may have been one to stand out in the passenger pickup area in the freezing cold in my younger years. Interpreter just kind of does whatever he wants. We tolerate it.
  2. a. Yesterday on yesterday was the day before yesterday. b. "Today's market run-up" wasn't finished yet at the time Rick wrote the story. Separately: Cedar Fair's World of Hurt: http://themeparks.about.com/b/2009/03/10/c...rld-of-hurt.htm A two day response to an action, particularly when the second day was one of the market's strongest in many a moon, is not necessarily indicative nor not indicative of the future. One day or action does not normally a long term market make. That being said, the day Cedar Fair took on Paramount Parks has certainly made virtually all the difference since. I wonder if Mr. Kinzel would have done the same thing then if he knew what he knows now. Somehow, I suspect, he would have. mmmmk.... But for those for the thousands in attendance and the millions watching at home, here are the stocks we're watching (as of closing bell Friday): Cedar Fair LP (FUN) $8.63 per limited partner unit, which is down 0.8% Six Flags (SIX) $0.16 per share, down 15.79% (a 52 week low)
  3. Although Hot Island Rhythms was a great show, it's a small sacrifice for what you're getting. You'll see.
  4. Please be advised if you plan to use a KI or Platinum Pass for entry into the event, your season pass MUST be processed before the day of the event. You will not be able to process it the morning of the event.
  5. Hey, I enjoyed the video. I must admit however that, as Delorean Rider stated, since we have in-park footage standing out in the cold in the parking lot is just an Extreme waste of time.
  6. I thought that comment was completely unfair. Shapiro did everything he could to save the company, but it was essentially doomed from the start.
  7. Although I do not know for sure, I'd guess that a POV video wouldn't come out until the ride has actually opened. Why would they want to ruin the surprise?
  8. I think you're getting pretty accurate predictions. Although it is impossible to tell how long the line will be, it's safe to assume that it will be a VERY popular attraction. It is a high capacity people-moving machine that can thrill roughly 1620 people per hour, so the line will certainly keep moving and a semi-constant rate. As The Interpreter hinted at, if you have a Kings Island Gold or Cedar Fair Platinum Pass you actually get the privileged of early access to Diamondback almost every operating day in 2009. The ride will open to season pass holders at 9:30 on weekdays and 9:00 on weekends. If you plan of having a season pass, this would be a great opportunity to ride this exciting new attraction with a minimal wait time.
  9. Side note: The remote control cars were removed a few years ago. There's now landscaping there.
  10. He keeps commenting about a 6% ride per limited unit, but according to Fidelity, it closed at $7.86, up $1.49 or 23.39%. He may have been referring to yesterday.
  11. If you look at the right side of the splashdown it looks like they have extended that artificial waterway that runs under the bridge in Rivertown.
  12. Sure, why not? I'm not 100% certain if they HAVE to test it at night, but I could see them doing it.
  13. We've asked you more than a few times to direct your work related questions to your supervisor, not to KIC. This is your last warning.
  14. FUN closed at $6.17, up $.37 (6.17%). Realistically, Valleyfair and Worlds of Fun do not add much geographically to the portfolio. The LP is better off with the immediate cash on hand. I think this is a good move, and the investors seems to agree.
  15. I went poked around it last Thursday with Nick, who I believe will be the general manager when it opens. The place is much bigger than you'd think. Very beautifully done and yes, very exciting!!!
  16. Actually, KIC has an exclusive agreement with all of the Cox papers and is linked to by them all the time. See this link for an example.
  17. Well, you are!! Would it be any less true than also saying you have a "coaster repertoire" (i.e. credit list!) Congrats on the recognition, btw, even though you constantly remind us it's us "little's" who truly make KIC what it is!! “Once you label me, you negate me.” -Soren Kierkegaard
  18. I usually do not post that often, but I would just like to say that if Diamondback's splashdown is anything like Sheikra at BGA, it's hardly noticeable, unless riding in the back where you may get lucky and feel some mist. In my opinion, it's more of an aesthetic feature than one for thrills, especially compared to the dive machines where the majority of the rows are hanging over the pool. The rooster tails really are mystifying in perosn though as I could watch Sheikra cycle all day, and that will most likely have to do until this summer You hit the nail right on the head. Diamondback's splashdown has nothing to do with getting wet, it's all about how it looks from the outside.
  19. Well whats interesting is that KI's first "splashdown" on BLSC was stopped because it was to hard on the track as far as wear and tear, so my worry is will the same thing happen to D-back. Well just have to wait and see I suppose. You sure it's hard on the track? My guess is that it's over-engineered and ridiculous to maintain.
  20. Article from the Pulse~Journal. LOL on them calling me a coaster connoisseur.
