  1. This is great news. As others have said, the ride program hasn't changed yet, it was the same thing when I rode it on Saturday afternoon. I can't wait to see what the new program is, assuming PKI goes through with this plan.
  2. Most schools around here that I know of are going back this week. Those that aren't will go back next week.
  3. Looks like it's official - Tiques gone after Sunday: http://www.enquirer.com/midday/08/08132004...mday_PKI13.html
  4. Before the announcement I figured it was going to be a Premier ride, but the video makes it look like an Intamin ride - AquaTrax perhaps? Sure didn't look anything like a Premier ride. Unless the track concept art won't look anything like the final product.
  5. At the press conference, they didn't say where the ride was going to go, who the manufacturer was, or any of the stats for the ride.
  6. PCW announcement I thought this was pretty interesting. A multi million dollar ride inspired by a Hollywood spectacular. And check out who the "Special Thanks" is for.
  7. "Premier" Press Conference, perhaps? Edit: BTW, Italian Job's plot centers around a group of robbers who pull off a heist by creating a massive traffic jam. So yeah, I think that's a pretty big hint or Jeff Siebert could be up to his tricks again, you never know.
  8. Tomb Raider was closed last week, but it opened this past Monday and has been running fine since.
  9. As much as I want a big new steel coaster, I would hate for them to take out the pond. It's part of what makes Rivertown.
  10. Also take a look at where everyone sits
  11. Yeah, it's rough, but hey it's a woodie, what do you expect?
  12. Yeah, it's an annoying rule, but it really makes sense. I can't tell you how many times I've seen PKI associates in blue shirt and nametag, but with their shirts untucked, walking around the park with a group of friends. Basically what PCar is saying is, if you want to come to the park as a guest, don't be in uniform. Unfortunately, some employees don't follow the rules and then the privelige has to be revoked for everyone.
  13. It was open yesterday at around 1, did it close again?
  14. No offense, but I wouldn't mind seeing SoB burn to the ground. It's the only coaster ride that I'm begging to be over when it's halfway done.
  15. Also: You're baking a chocolate cake. and, especially: Ride is broken here.
  16. I was looking forward to catching the first performance of the NCP today. I got off work around 4, went out to my car and changed clothes. After I got back in the park, I first went and got a quick ride on a newly reopened TRTR. The ride program is completely different, there are 5 topspins.....jk. It's still same old TRTR. I headed toward the beginning of the parade route to stake out a spot. I found a seat on a curb across from Ghoster Coaster and sat down. When I got there (4:45) there were lots and lots of people already lining the parade route. With 5 minutes to go, an annoucement played with Spongebob telling us to hurry and grab a spot: "I'm ready!" The parade soundtrack started a few minutes before 5, first with a welcome from Spongebob and Gary, then the catchy theme song we've all heard and loved. Thanks to all the extra speakers they've installed along the route, the soundtrack is fairly loud. The rest of the soundtrack consisted of snippets of pop music that kids would love. Being a fan of Disney parade soundtracks, I was underwhelmed by the NCP soundtrack 5 minutes passed, and I was getting anxious, having seen no floats. I finally came to a sickening revelation: the parade must have started at FoF today! Since I wasn't in the mood to wait 20 minutes for the parade to show up, I took off through HB and into IS. I arrived at the Eiffel Tower just as the parade was stopping there. There were throngs of people crowding the route, but I was still able to see most of the action from the back of the pack. First of all, the floats are very very nice. They're bright and eye-catching. Various characters were in the parade: Angelica, Suzie, and Spongebob were on floats, while Patrick and one of the Fairly Oddparents walked along side. Also in the parade were a number of brightly dressed actors, who were doing a great job exciting and entertaining the crowd. Some of the actors carried drums which they played along with the music. I was also surprised to see a number of large puppets (a la Epcot's Tapestry parades) representing animals - elephants, lizards and the like. Some of the puppets even squirted water on the unsuspecting parade watchers! As the parade moved into each area, it stopped and the actors and characters danced to the music. Little kids were perched on their parents' shoulders, waving at the characters, as the parents furiously snapped pictures. At one point, an actor went and pulled a man and three kids out of the crowd. The man was placed on a pedestal and given a bib to tie around his neck, and the kids were given a cream pie. With the actors egging on the cheering crowd, the kids pied the man in the face! He was a good sport about it though. Overall I was very impressed by NCP. I would rate it as one of the coolest things I've ever seen at PKI. I think it will be very well received by kids (and parents) this summer. Hopefully PKI will be encouraged to produce more parades in future seasons!
  17. 1. Flight of Fear 2. Delirium 3. Beast 4. Tomb Raider 5. Drop Zone Coasters only: 1. Flight of Fear 2. Beast 3. Vortex 4. Racer 5. Face/Off
  18. They're route markers for the parade which starts on Saturday.
  19. I really hope it's a red herring Seems like Beverly Hills Cop would be a really tacky theme for a new ride. I'm all for the part about B&M though
  20. If you add one new ride program, you're also adding new lighting sequences, new special effects patterns, and new sound cues, all of which have to be programmed, tested and tweaked. Multiple programs on TRTR just isn't a possibility. And frankly, it's not worth it - there's not a whole lot of variety to be had with a Shiva, ice field, and lava pit
  21. TRTR usually opens on time. If it doesn't, it would be because of a technical problem of some kind, and it wouldn't be possible to estimate when it would be able to open.
  22. Sparks have definitely not been on at any time during this year.
  23. Now all you hear are "What?", "Yeah!", and "OK!" from Chapelle's Show.
