  1. I look at this opportunity though, market-wide as a time to buy! Not a time to look at how crappy things have gotten. I am getting on the Warren Buffet and Peter Lynch train here very soon!
  2. He is always so upbeat and confident, I like that. And he doesn't come begging for nickels, lol
  3. But, Rain hardly ever contains large amounts of chlorine, and harmful mineral deposits are only found in large quantities very rarely in rain. They can be however carried from all different sources as water travels through various pipe, and land mediums. Just look at the Warehouse/Show area of the ride, those water effects have been off for about 2 years now. Just look at how ugly the area looks, it is so rusty up there!
  4. I hope they make it, such stories like that are the ones that deserve attention and admiration for all those who conceived and contributed to the dream. As long as they don't hire the Pughes to manage the park! (They were the people who were brought in to manage Lesourdsville Lake, didnt work out to well, lol)
  5. There is a soft spot somewhere in the middle that is best. Too cold, and the track becomes a jackhammer fest as the wood contracts! Somewhere in the middle is ideal.
  6. It is true, More than a few of our posters loved to feed them And now they are gone. One of the greatest attractions of LeSourdsville Lake was the spit-eating carp.
  7. Autopsies are nearly always performed in high-profile cases like this regardless. It makes the guesswork that much easier...
  8. I might be there. I want to be, my Birthday is the day before so it could be a fun day at the park, If I don't have to work on the 4th. There certainly is no shortage of things to do.
  9. Let us sing: Oh, a pocket with no nickels helps the Cicada go dowwwwnnnn, the Cicada go dowwwwnnnn, thats right, an empty pocket helps the Cicada go dowwwnnn! In other news: I just noticed that terpy can't find a good way to get past the language filter with the modifier for his roach...lol
  10. New to Kings Island for 2008: No cost food options for those who don't mind dining amongst nature, and who have a tight budget! Why go to the car, when you can eat in line? Wow, that was awkward to watch...very FearFactorish!
  11. This makes me sick to my stomach. Many reports say a six-foot fence. About the same size as those around the brake run of Top Thrill Dragster. What makes me sick is that this happened at all, and the possible decapitation...ick. For Interpreter, if they did climb the fence, and there were signs, what do you want, Barbed Wire??
  12. UH-OH, add this one to the year-end financials reporting Excuse List. Let's see, where will we rank there was smoke in the air at our California properties most of the year? Somewhere between gas, and rain?
  13. Seconded, ROFL
  14. If there is one thing I have learned in my (Almost) 20 years on this earth, Anheuser-Busch can build a Thrill/Theme Park better than many could even dream about, let alone actually build. I love Disney, and they are certainly the pinnacle, but Anheuser-Busch should be the standard!
  15. That wouldn't be because he owns LOTS & LOTS of units, wonder what his dividend check looks like? I never, ever thought of that. You just made me smile real big Lake54321!
  16. They need to get rid of the Dividend and take the stock price hit. Grab the money they wont be paying out in a dividend, to help pay down debt, and then later reinstitute the dividend, or maybe cut it down a little. Companies that are 1.24 B in debt usually dont pay a dividend of 10%. They need to try something though.
  17. Technically though, the stock price of a stock is just a value judgement by consumers on an idea of possibly making money. Really that is what it boils down to, and nothing more. The only time a company actually sees a nickel of that stock price change is during the IPO (Initial Public Offering) where the company makes the money the shares are worth with the sell of those shares to investors. Other than that, shares in stock are nothing more than a stake in decisions in a company a person may like, or a chance to earn income if there is a dividend. The real way to know whether a company is going under or not is to look at the Statement of free cash flows. The stock price says much about corporate confidence and much less about internal governance. Edit: I love the way he wrote that article, and his conclusion, brilliant. I must say I rather enjoyed SFOG!
  18. What is it that they say about Ignorance?
  19. If it is raining in the Ozarks (Which it always is) don't go to SDC, you won't ride anything but Fire in the hole, things close down there for a misting, no joke. The only thing else then to do will be watch Granny on her cell phone while making Lye soap, watch all the wonderful craft displays, and watch subpar amusement park entertainment. Worlds of Fun is a better bet if you want coasters anyways, although the air time and launch on Powder Keg are awesome!
  20. This could be the tax that breaks the piggy's back. Hopefully this tax is implemented at a friendlier economic time than now.
  21. And to add to what you have said, the number one reason I heard on the day of Knievel's jump for people leaving early around 6PM, was it keeps the kids from witnessing the jump, and its possible unintended effects. Many persons who I know that were at the park with kids, were there for the Clown Band, other 70's era fan fare, and left before the jump to keep their kids from seeing what could have been distastrous. Now whether I agree with censoring in that manner is another forum completely, but it is something that was in the minds of very many people on that day!
  22. Yeah Interpreter, that is what I was alluding to! I was one of those who felt sure that the Kings Island jump, if a record was even going to be set, would not be his last major jump. When there was talk that the KI jump would be his last I doubted it, after the Texas Speedway jump went well I figured he would be into jumping for another few years. When you are as passionate about things as he is, you don't just give them up easily. His jump at SFSTL seemed destined to happen given the circumstances of the new ride being unveiled. I still wonder if we may see Wallenda walk at another park, given the whole Knievel thing. lol. (And, Let me be very clear, I sincerely hope Wallenda CAN walk at another park, this was not a lame attempt at a pun)
  23. While I do understand what you are saying, some people need to understand that a park is not there for their own personal pleasure. If parks would actually allow trims to be removed so that the force of the ride can always be felt, a majority of the people would hate the ride. For instance: you just came back from CP and experienced Magnum. The trims in the pretzel slow down the train enough so when you come to the bunny hops, the lap bar does not kill your thighs (more than it already does). For an enthusiast, we know where to lift up on the lap bar or know how to sit, for a non-enthusiast all they will remember is the pain the ride caused. That is not the type of experience the parks want people to remember. If those people remember a bad ride experience, they very well could spend their money at another park. And less revenue for a park directly effects people like you and me either by higher ticket prices OR less fantastic trill rides (ironically the same thrill rides and enthusiast whines about). There are enough enthusiast events to satisfy the hard-core fans. It is just that the enthusiast needs to remember that operating a park is a business, and if the majority of the guests are not happy, the park does not make money. And then we all lose out. This is the single best post I have seen on here in a very, very long time! Logic is still alive and well! This almost makes me happy that I am starting to post again, (now if only it could fix the other bad portions of this year...grumble...grumble).
  24. Well, if this is isn't the surprise of the century! Anyone else think we will see the Wallenda's walk high across Fiesta Texas, or SF St. Louis?
  25. I don't think I could ride The Firewood God, that many times in a row, and I usually don't notice rough rides.
