  1. Now I am confused by the comment you made about how it would end up the same way as waterworks. Waterworks, when the weather is nice, draws a heck of a lot of people in to enjoy the day. So, to end up like Waterworks would not be horrible. But, I do think that Boomerrang Bay will draw in plenty of crowds, more so than waterworks, and more importantly, it will drive season pass sales through the roof. So, I personally think that Boomerrang Bay will be a great success.
  2. Haha, that's funny... new shops, makes me laugh. While I don't want PKI to have it's own little TTD, I would not go and say that TTD is a terrible coaster at all, sure it's short, but wow, what a rush. I'd have to say that I think that I really don't want to see a screaming squirrel at PKI. They're so... eh. Spend the money on a spinning wild mouse instead, those at least do more than that screaming squirrel, and it looks nicer too.
  3. That'll be interesting to see how they do that, since the bridge has to remain functional while the other one is being built. It be cool if there was a nice cable stayed bridge going across the river though, those things are so nice. But the thought of all the highway realignments an interchange reconfiguations that will be done with the constuction of Brent Spence 2 is awe striking. It'll be so neat to see, but then I am a civil engineering major. But, just wait, because I am sure once that bridge is rebuilt some other major highway project will come up. The I-75 reconstuction/ light rail system comes to mind. Won't that project be fun? Well that was completely off topic... so now to the topic. Yeah it has been kinda warm this month, but look-- the weather's changed and now it's unbelievably cold. It's this finicky weather that probably keeps PKI makes it a good idea for the park not to stay open this month.
  4. You know, I honestly don't care about when anything is completed as long as everything is completed by Memorial Day Weekend. I'll only care about when things are completed if I get placed in the waterpark for the fourth time in a row (3 consecutive years as manager in the same location is unheard of in the Merch Dept.). If I get placed out there again, I do hope that they give everyone that needs to move back in ample time to setup again and do training for the associates in the Waterpark.
  5. That's not all they're doing to the store you know. Drain and second stockroom amongst other things anyone? The simile was just a joke.
  6. To me, removing Vortex would be like them removing Trader Jake's. Wait... In all seriousness, I don't think that there would be any reason for Vortex to be removed in the near future. I still see lines for it, and it is quite a nice ride to admire from the midway. Would be nice if they smoothed some spots which are in my opinion quite the neck cracker. I think it would be really sad if the removed Vortex, it was the first big kid coaster I ever rode, and it always is a joy to ride. Plus, I just don't want to see the list of removed rides added to when great rides like KCKC and KC were both just recently added. I most certainly miss those rides. But, I honestly don't think that the park would be interested in removing a gem in the vast minefield of arrow multi-loopers.
  7. Well I got three months where I have nothing to do other than the piles and piles of homework my wonderful profeesors are dishing out (Go Physics!), and find another job for the winter. In February I get to go back to PKI for interviews, training, and set up. I still have three days of work too , got to do store inventories.
  8. I am pretty sure that for initial question number two that the staircase at the candy store was to the old merchandise offices, well at least that's what I hear, as for what second floor is for now I have no clue.
  9. My thoughts, are that the park would never build another freefall tower and tear down the one they already have. But if it was to happen, keep the theme the same, I like the bright sign and multicolored tower.
  10. As far as I am aware of we do not have a online gift shop yet. As for what shops stay open for FearFest, only a few (Rock Shop, Convenience Corner and Night Novelty Vending) are scheduled people to stay open til midnight. The others close earlier.
  11. Well, last week the park was deserted on Sunday for FF. However, you are looking to show up on the last weekend of operation. That is traditionally the busiest post-season weekend to show up, and with FF being free with admission, all bets on attendance are off. Rides scheduled to be open include The Beast, SoB, Tomb Raider, Delirium, Drop Zone, Flying Eagles, Dodgems, Flight of Fear, Vortex, Forwards Racer, Adventure Express, Face/Off and Vortex. There is also a chance that other rides could be open. AS for a review of the attractions, I can't critique them as I have not experienced them but there are plenty of TRs on the site that could probably tell you what to expect.
  12. 3) I remember that path as a kid, it went across the lake and I believe it ended behind Wings Diner. I don't remember it being there after black Sunday (well, I think it was a Sunday), but I do remember it from my early childhood. As for the other two paths. As for the other two places, I am not really sure what you are refering to when you say "sealed brick door", and I know that nowadays the people in the Candy Store will run you off of the top floor balcony should you decide to tempt fate and run up the stairs. As for old footers and such, I think you can still see KC footers around the access road that was under where the lift used to be.
  13. I had one from 98-00, then I became employed by the park in 2001, and spend five to six days a week during the summer at the park. Makes up for those years without a season pass, I suppose.
  14. It appears that Kings Island is no longer 500,000 gallons short in its search for water. Announced today in the Enquirer the park announced that the county will act as the service provider for the water, but the Cincinnati Water Works would actually be selling the park the water. Source: http://www.enquirer.com/midday/10/10042003...s_mday_pki.html
  15. Personally I think that they all are going to be fun. Sure Tazmanian Typhoon will be awesome. But then I also think that the racing slides are pretty cool too, they could give those slides attitude and make it a great thing to watch.
  16. If I remember correctly in the enquirer online edition Jeff Siebert is quoted as expecting "bigger and better" with the sign situation, so time will tell what cool things they'll do with the sign. Source: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2003/09/2...7/loc_mday.html
  17. I bet the rides weren't the only things inspected, I for one can tell you that this morning we were searching for water damage in our stores. Luckily for us my store had no apparent damage, probably as it is underneath the gate and IR. But the damage was impressive between the sign and other things, I just can't believe that the winds actually took down the sign, driving past it on KI Drive is quite the experience, it's hard to believe that winds could have been strong enough to cause the structure to fail.
  18. Surprise is such a big word, could mean anything. Doesn't have to be a ride, now does it? Maybe it could be more restrooms and other aesthetic improvements. To some, that'd be a surprise. I am not saying that there that the possibilty that the 'surprise' is a ride is not there, I'm just trying to keep people from being too overly angry should the 'surprises' be something other than a wonderful, awesome, ride. But here's to hoping for a ride, albeit small hope. I'm just happy for Boomerrang Bay right now.
  19. I really doubt that after revamping the fountain because of wear created by the ice skating rink at Winterfest they would really put rink once again on the royal fountain. It proably would be somewhere else for adults. But even the remote possibility that they are going to bring back Winterfest is truly exciting. I remember going their as a kid and marvelling at the lights, skating at Scrappy's rink, and watching the shows in the Paramount Theatre. As a kid, it was so magical.
  20. I'm going to have to pass on the Burger King, the sight of inflated prices would be too much to handle. However it would be very cool if a real LaRosa's restaurant came into the park that sold everything LaRosa's, not just little facets of the restaurant.
  21. Funny, all I keep hearing is that they are removing the Waterworks Waterpark, and that if I like Waterworks Waterpark now then I'll love what they are doing next year. Labor Day sure will reveal many things for all of us, won't it? Until then I'll just keep my sales going on selected merchandise, readying myself for the impending closure.
  22. I really miss Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal. It was an extremely fun log flume that just never had a wait. Oh, it also fit nicely into that 'Rivertown' theme unlike some other ride **cough** Tomb Raider **cough** By the way, I am pretty sure that periodically the Fudge Shop on International Street makes candy apples. I say periodically because I haven't been on the Street for over a month now, and also the fact that majors are required to make candy apples, which is a rare commodity in Merchandise. (Yes that's right, Merch runs Fudge, not Food, interesting, no?)
  23. Yes, we sometimes do get mixed up, but then sometimes the manufactuer screws up as well. While seeing other Paramount Park's names adorning plush is what you'll normally see should you find a non PKI plush, I've seen more random things such as plastics that are for the Audubon Zoo in Columbus or Six Flags sippers. It's nice to know that we're all selling the same things, huh? Just our product is better, of course. Splashworks towels, Carowinds Plush, and Carowinds Plastics, all a bunch of wonderful things that get mixed up in factory distribution. Too bad the Splashworks Towels replaced the Spongebob Towels, those Spongebob towels would have sold like candy.
  24. Associates need to remember one thing when walking through the park. While they may be off the clock and not have a care in the world, an associate is still a representative of the park while in the view of the guests. Thus, when they are walking through the park off the clock in wardrobe, we ask that associates remain within wardrobe guidelines. This is to make sure that we are showing our best to the guests and not allowing ourselves to succumb to negative comments because of first judgements on appearance. Remember that people often judge an institute on just one facet of the institution, and often for PKI that facet is associate appearance. Thus, we ask that all associates remain within wardrobe guidelines while in the view of guests.
  25. Have you noticed the new waterworks towels, those delightfully green and blue floral towel found in the waterpark as well as on several carts? They're beautiful I tell you, just plain beautiful. Who's also noticed how there are no Spongebob Towels this year at any of the Merchandise locations? Perhaps what happened was that PKI's Spongebob towels were sent to Canada's Wonderland, and their Splashworks towels were sent to PKI. Nothing too terribly exciting there with towels, I presume. So, I hope that quells any "Waterworks is becoming Splashworks" rumors.
