  1. It certainly is odd seeing the quiet hamlet of Zanesville, OH mentioned in the LA Times.
  2. The old man Kinzel's guestimates might not be too far off.
  3. Ha I've been laughing for like 5 minutes! You do understand that you just said Dollywood BS, right! I always thought this was Dollywood's "BS"..
  4. Kinzel, at one point (shortly after Carolina Cobra and Dominator were evicted from Aurora), said that it costs them "about $0.50 on the dollar" to relocate a ride, versus buying new. A former Paramount Park exec said that relocating a ride costs "nearly as much" as buying new. The big difference I see here is the distance and transport costs: The Geauga coasters moved a relatively short distance (ME/CC moved a longer ways, but is a much smaller, and thus easier to transport, ride), while Paramount's experience saw them move the complex Stealth flying dutchman literally from coast-to-coast. While CGA's Invertigo is making a long trip, it's compact size and short layout should ease on transportation costs a bit.
  5. And no manufacturers were sued (that we know of), although one manufacturer tried to sue... http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20100821/2117/cedar-point-faces-lawsuit-over-planned-2011-stratosoar-attraction
  6. I agree, although the Knott's version's redesigned look to fit with the Fiesta Village theme works pretty well: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/08/Knott%27s_WindSeeker_Sign.jpg/401px-Knott%27s_WindSeeker_Sign.jpg
  7. We'll find out in the morning. PREMiERdrum, curious if this thread lasts that long...
  8. http://tlcreativedesign.com/WindSeeker/ To be announced Wednesday morning, though somebody slipped up early.
  9. I've said I'd never root for Michigan. But if somebody showed up in maize-and-blue with a wad of cash...
  10. . What's odd is that the coding on the tag has pretty much been figured out, and the "MC" on these tags matches up with other B&M "Mega Coasters". The rumored WingRider at DollyWood has a visual "WI" as the start of the part number, Shiekra (and other Dive Machines) have "DM", Inverteds have "IC," and Sitting and Floorless have "SC". Now, CW already has a B&M Mega Coaster in Behemoth, so this will be very interesting to see play out.
  11. The tags at the end of each column are identical to ones on recent B&M installations. Also, my wife and I passed the truck carrying these pieces north on I-71 just outside of Cincinnati on Friday night. As you all know, stateside B&M components are manufactured in Batavia.
  12. Seriously? To which SIX responded... "We have a storage building that "resembles" Disaster Transport. So, clearly, Disaster Transport shouldn't count as a roller coaster."
  13. These will be new (or "certified pre-owned) figures. The company builds them and "loans" them to the park, and the 2 share in ticket sales.
  14. As in Sandusky, 2012? Again, as in Sandusky, 2012? As we often suspected. Which is likely at least partly due to CF being so far behind the curve on Point of Sale and Debiting technologies... a barcoded wristband, linked to a credit card or cash account would make in-park purchasing much, much easier for waterpark guests. Heck, even being able to use your Cedar Fair Resort hotel key for purchasing items would be easier.
  15. Hey brother! Back in my day, I marched with the Warriors of Watkins Memorial. Since then I've been back there as an instructor, and doing some freelance writing for other programs. I also play set with a few projects, and of course at church as well.

  16. Precisely. This is me... And I drive a Ford Focus. LOL
  17. Precisely... It's all in how the experience is "packaged" to the guest. The park knows how much $$ they need to average from each guest, it's how that amount is divided up and presented that is easily manipulated. Imagine an "all inclusive" ticket for online purchase, that with one price includes your parking, gate admission, lunch and dinner, drinks throughout the day, and a souvenir t-shirt or some such tchotchke.
  18. If I ever see this man on the midway, he just may get a hug. THIS is the attitude CF needs at the top.
  19. I know that this is off topic. We have a weekly racing series Nascar track in Columbus Ohio. A few years ago, one of the stands fell down hurting some fans. The odd thing is that the stand that fell was inspected by the tracks insurance company the week before. The building and fire people said that the insurance company only did the normal inspection and not the more detailed inspection. The track wasn't cited for anything as far as i know. I was working here at the assignment desk that night, and I will never forget hearing the words "mass casualty incident" come across the scanners... certainly was a difficult one to cover, but miraculously none of the injuries were serious. IIRC, it was the metal structure supporting a concrete observation deck below the press box that gave way, sending the concrete and a few people crashing down onto spectators below. Just a year or 2 after that incident, a modified school bus participating in a bus racing event hopped over a concrete wall and crashed into a group of spectators. Again, nobody was critically injured, miraculously.
  20. Also, of note... the Zoo actually has 2 different troupes of Flamingos: Their Caribbean Flamingos can be found in the Zoo's "Shores" region, with an exhibit shared with American Alligators (though the 2 are kept apart by a glass barrier): Their group of Chilean Flamingos, under the care of the Zoo's promotions and public relations department, live at the Animal Encounters Village in Jungle Jack's Landing. These are available for guests (including children) to meet and touch!
  21. Also, an interesting article about how the zoo "tricks" the birds with fake eggs and nests: Continued at LINK - Columbus Dispatch
  22. As a famous, outgoing exec might say... "guests gotta [park]"
