  1. I once visited the park during one of their down days and surprisingly ended up as being the only rider on Flight of Fear (this was soon after they took off the rider limit). They warned me that the ride would go extremely faster without anyone else in it to weight it down..and it did. One of the best rides of my life on that ride....it also boosted the fear factor a bit knowing that I was the only one.
  2. I think that it could simply be a new game perhaps a replacement for the water game in front. After all the water game is probably one one of the most mobile looking games in the park...resembling a carnival game booth. So I'm thinking that this will be a permanant replacement leaving the park to just wheel off the old game.
  3. I too live close enough to see the fireworks from my balcony, but nothing compares to being up close and feeling the sonic waves of the charges. Bingog I was doing the same, however I called customer service. I called around 9:30...at that time they said that they were going to try to shoot them off in 5 minutes to avoid the storm. At the same time the clouds were moving in with very active lightning giving me the idea that that would be impossible. Indeed, nothing happened from my vantage point. I called again around 10:30 thinking that the show had to have been canceled, but to my surprise they said that they were going to try to pull it off within 5 minute. Ended up watching half the show while driving to the park, dodging parked cars along the way...ending up stuck in the overflow parking area to watch the rest. Lol hopefully the next fourth will be better
  4. Last nights strom system was a bit out of the ordinary. The front originated up around northern ohio and michigan. Usually lines of storms move from the west to the east. This particular storm was moving along the same direction but soon took a sharp and dramatic turn straight south, arriving on our door step at show time for Nights of Fire.
  5. I guess that if you were one of the unfortunte people at the park tonight, this is not news to you. But after talking to customer service, the event has been canceled leaving only tomorow night's presentation. I was actually kind of hoping that both shows would be pushed back a day. But anyway since I was fortunte enough to narowly miss leaving home to attend tonights presentation, I'm curious about those of you who actually attended. So I'll guess we'll open this topic up for any accounts of tonight's unfortunate cancelation and any updates on perhaps a change of plans for the show. I also feel sorry for all of those without season passes who paid general admittion for the sole purpose of seeing tonights show and for those who paid extra for a dinner and a view without a view.
  6. I road the Son again tonight and yes the midcourse breaks were on...so according to this and all of your replies it must have been an isolated occurance. But I hope that some day you will be as lucky as me and ride the son without the midcourse breaks..it truly is like a different animal.
  7. I am almost surprised that no one has posted this before me, making me think that this must have been an isolated occurance. What i'm talking about is that during my visit to the park last Saturday, I noticed that the breaks in the break run before the loop on the son were seemingly non existant! I have ridden the Son over 200 times and can not recall ever when this has happened. Needless to say that it made the ride much better, giving it more of an outa control feel to it....relative to before, the coaster coasted through the loop, second helix and bunny hops, Satuday it screamed through them. Has anyone else experienced this or was this just an isolated occurance?
  8. Crispy plaese refresh my memory as to what type of restraint was used in place of the lap bars back then. There had to have been some type of restraint on The Racer because it would almost be suicidal to run the trains that way given all of the excellent air time especially on the top of the switch back.
  9. Now that we finally have a definate answer, a few other questions arise..some of which have already been posted. My next question is, would the reduction in money flow from the free admission affect in any way the quality and/or number of attractions that we will see this fall? It would be nice to see FF continue to grow and change, however I'm thinking that something has to give for us to receive free admission. And, as noted in some of the previous posts, if atendance has actually decreased, maybe it might be time for the park to revisit the popular idea of a return of Winterfest. In fact I'm curious about how many here would welcome a return to Winterfest, my personal favorite, over Fear Fest.......
  10. Free Fear Fest Admission.......sure...here's the link
  11. Ok...I know that everyone is a bit tired of this topic but here are a few of my ideas. In examining some of the old park maps and photos from the early 80's and 90's I have noticed that yes the park has continued to expand in the public's eye with new rides and attractions but really it seems as if the park has actually decreased a bit in size. By that i mean with the extraction of the wild animal habitat. Yes, SOB and perhaps TG occupy a good chunk of that land but it still seams as if extra land is still available back there. So if my hypothesis is true then it is nothing short of genious on the part of PKI's planning team by continuously updating the park while increasing the amt of available acerage for perhaps a potential blockbuster expansion. in addition to the undelveloped acerage around the park they have also freed up some land within the park which I feel has kind of created a few "dead spots" within the park, as far as traffic. One such place is in Coney mall next to the speed pitch game where the old Flight Navigator once stood. Sometimes, especially on slow days, i feel as if I'm the only one walking within that general vicinity compared to the other side of the mall. There is a trampoline attraction in place of FN, but perhaps by adding a new flat ride it might help to draw more people to the side of the mall. It could be a possiblity that a small coaster, such as a wild mouse could be added if some of the surrounding games and attractions were taken out. And second is the area behind the open air theater that was once the home to a dolphin show. This area is adjacent to a pathway that leads from international to The Beast. Granted that this area is a nice change of pace from the rest of the park , but what if they could once again utlilize the lake and the adjacent land to perhaps have another live show...maybe even an action show based upon a Paramont movie. just a few of my thoughts
  12. During the weeks leading up to opening day I was very excited about the news that new restraints would be added to the Son. We are now nearing the start of daily operation and there are still no new retraints to be found. Has the plan been scrapped, was it a bad rumor, or must we wait a bit longer? Ialways sit in the middle row of each car for it is the least turbulent..but I feel sorry some, especially tall people like me, who do not know this little secret and continue to get ocassional nicks and bruises from the old restraints.
  13. This morning I was checking out the new season pass rates on PKI's site and happened to find a new offer for free admission to Fear Fest. For those of you who work at the park....a couple of questions. Is this offer just for those that purchase a non-gold season pass (very dissapointing if so)? And does this allow for unlimited admission for the entire run?
