While I attendend today's abreviated season passholder day, I noticed that there is a strange new formation rising from the spot of the old Flight Navigator ride. For now it looks to be the skeleton of something that might resembe a bubble like figure. So, of course my question is does anyone know what this could be?........

As I approached the park from the south, I had to do a double take and check that this wasn't the fourth of July! In talking with another fellow frequent visitor, she believes that we had over 70,000 in attendance today...unbelievable. But since I did not get a chance to go on Saturday i felt the need to get at least one ride in before the week begins. Surprisingly, after arriving at the park at about 5:30, I was able to fit in 6 rides..2 rides on the recar, Vortex, SOB, Delirium, and finally had ten min to spare to walk back for a final night ride on Beast. So on busy days, my rule of thumb is to always avoid wasting time on the popular and/or low capacity rides...the time you spend in line for Flight of Fear you could probably easily have two rides on The Vortex. And then save the best, like The Beast, for last so that you have a half hour wait at the most instead of an hour wait.

Will there be two seperate media days for the opening of the park and IJST? And who exactly is eligible to attend the media day..given that this is my first year as a part of a media organization it would be cool to see if I can make to one of the media days.

You are all right..I should know since I'm an employee at a local news afiliate as well as a theatre minor. The meteorologist also uses the chromakey on a daily basis. It is a great effect, but really anyone can do it with the right software and a green or blue background. In terms of a scrim....it is basically a translucent screen that can be flown in and out. Anything behind the scrim can be made to appear just by simply illuminating whatever is behind it and reducing the amount of light in front of the scrim. To make an object disapear, you simply reverse the process.

Since PKi's website doesn't detail the perks for gold pass holders, I checked out the perks from some of the other paramount parks. It seems as if PKD has, by far the best perks out of the entire group, and I'm hoping that we will be fortunate enough to get at least one. Some of the new benefits include, a bring a friend for free ticket after your fourth visit (i wonder if that is one ticket period or one after every subsequent four consecutive visits), and dicounted cup refills that will provide you with a cup for 4.99, and 95 cent refills for the rest of the season. Personally, if I had to choose one over the other, it would have to be the discounted refill perk. Due to how often I visit the park (for usually short durations), I have developed my own policy of always eating and drinking before I enter the gates so as to save money from the high prices that are really more geared for the tourist who have extra money to spend. So especially on those hot summer days it will be nice for me to break my rule every once in a while...95 cents is alot better to stomach than 2.75. Lets cross our fingers and hope for the best....2 out of 2 perks.

In terms of attendance, PKI actually topped Cedar Point to take the top spot in amusement park attendance for Ohio. This also places the park at the very top of the list for seasonal park attendance and I believe 13th overall. If you are wondering if I'm a new member...I was actually a member of PKIU for quite a while...found this site and am quite pleased over the merger between the two...and if you haven't noticed I only make postings when I absolutely feel that it is of something of great interest to PKI fan community.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that the sign is now starting to rise..at least the supports are. I might be wrong...but construction of the sign should move fairly quickly from now on.

I have yet to see the parade yet today I saw a few essential technical elements along tha parade route, like primarily the sets of speakers. A question that I have is...how technically advanced is the system...does the soundtrack simply follow the parade till it leaves a certain zone and then fades out, or is it as advanced as Disney's whereas the soundtrack changes to match the action or theme of the different floats within the different zones. Also when does repositioning take place...I'm assuming it is after the park closes for it would be too difficult to manuever the floats through the access roads.

About 5 min for me...I too can see the fireworks from my balcony.

Lol well unfortnately I have not been able to spend as much time at the park as I used to with a new job and all, and have to work on friday nights. But with me having experience operating such lights, I found it to be odd and a bit original to have them in such a configuration out in the open. Though the fixtures are probably rented, I would love to see them there permanantly and perhaps added to other spots in the park, and perhaps even synched up to the regular music in the park.

While briefly visiting the park today, I was quite surprised to find several automated (moving) light fixtures, like those that you would find at a concert beneath the water tower in az. in addition there are two stages on either side with par can lights (A musch simpler form of stage lighting). So does anyone know what exactly this is for? Regardles, once operational, the effect should be quite striking.

Perhaps I misunderstood, but one area I noticed the signs was behind the tomb raider promotional statue behind the Eiphel Tower.

if you haven't noticed, I think that those concrete squares now have company in the form of what looks to be a very wide rectangular advertisement sign on top of them. Granted they are all still blank, but they pretty much look like advertisement signs to me.

I personally vote for International Street, but regardless of what ara I'm in I find it interesting that it is hard not for me to walk to the beat of the music after hearing repeatedly. And sometimes it feels as if I'm the only one in the park doing it lol. Please tell me that I'm not the only one.

Today wasnt the best of days a PKI for me either...due to a tight schedule I arrived at 4 and spent about a half an hour, so the early closing didn't phase me much. With what little time I spent, I was able to observe some of the negatives mentioned in previous posts. Yes, i was as concerned as many of you but what i was surprised not to hear were any positives in relation to finally shaking off the winter blues. For me, what i took away from today was the smile that I got from riding FOF for the first time this year. Now if I paid full price and received the same treatement then yes I would be a bit more ticked off...but for us passholders there are many more hopefully better days ahead.

Though I do not think that there will be any, having palm trees is a doable thing. Inf fact the Beach water park will have real palm trees this summer.

I too have free parking for this season...i rarely use the gold pass parking area since I pretty much arrive at the park an hour or two before closing, at that point you can find a few free spots near the handicap area. But on the occasion that i do arrrive early or on those unusually crowded days gold pass parking is priceless. Also, for the longest, up untill last season you could also park in the VIP area if you arive an hour or two before closing but PKI wised up and has a guard on dutie till the end of the day. Yes it is the best place to park and some pay a premium but they could still ease up a bit an hour before closing. And to answer the previous post's question....season pass processing will begin on Mon and should be open till 8pm throughout the week.

Unfortunately during the period of time for which those rides or features were predominant in the park I was either not born or forced to stay in Hana Barbara land, hoever i would love to see a return of the old beast waterfall.

Yeah its not going to be pretty....I can remember during the last outbreak finding it difficult to even walk from the car to the house withiut hundreds of cicadas smacking into you. Now...you know what a simple drop of rain feels like when on the Son...so just imagine what a big fat cicada would feel like. I think that some rides would have to be forced to shut down.

I have to go for LaRosa's....the aroma of the peperoni pizza always lures you and sentimentally I have great memories of eating by the fountain.

I think that if you are not a seasoned coaster rider and are not use to the feel of a first drop, the first drop on The Beast is great. But after you've riden it so many times that great initial feeling tends to wear off. As far as the second drop after the first tunnel....I always loved it up untill they started adding breaks to it. But yes the one element of The Beast that consistently gives me a thrill is the final helix, hands down....or up

I agree, but then again if PKI wants to separate itself from other seasonal theme parks and bill itself as a true park where you can "experience hollywood", like universal, it has to step up the quality of its shows. Now upgrading all of the technical and aethetic elements of the theatre is a big step forward in acheiving this objective, but then again without a good script and performers, you still have nothing. So this coming season I look forward to the park hopefully making the best use out of their newly renovated million dollar facility and push the envelope by not giving what the typical park goer expects out of an amusement park production, but rather exceed our expectations.

Lol I knew that leading into writing my response, but I haven't posted in a while and I also needed to kill some time.

As appealing the idea of turning The Beast around sounds, I agree that it would not be cost effective to do so for just a short period of time. The factor that you have to consider is severe whipplash. By going forwards on a coaster, the rider is able to somewhat anticipate the general direction of the coaster thus preparing the body for what is ahead. By going backwards there is no way to tell, so any unexpected sudden turns could potentially injure the rider. The only way around this is by redesigning the track, for which some parks have done. But I would highly dought that PKI would mess with a good thing like The Beast's classic ride layout.

Granted its only the first of the month and that this topic has been discussed previously, I was just curious if anyone knows of an exact date of this announcement and/or any new details.
