  1. My first trip to KI was 1987. I was too little to ride The Beast. I recall my brother riding Vortex (it was it's first year in operation {I believe}). He bought one of those "Baby on Board" like signs that read "I survived The Vortex" or something like that. We joked that it should have read "I survived The Vortex Queue". He and my father must have waited 2 and 1/2 hours. My second fondest memory of KI was my first ever ride on The Beast (must have been like 1991). However, my fondest memory of KI was my first ever ride on The Beast at night! This was only a few years ago. I can tell you that I was about 27 years old and for the first time in my life, I was actually convinced that I was going to die. Literally. I nearly had a mess in my pants. Best. Roller. Coaster. Period. It will never be topped. How did I find KIC? I owe this to The Interpreter. He had mentioned a few months ago on another, unrelated message board, that KI would have a "Major Announcement" soon regarding the 2007 season. He was talking about X-Flight/Firehawk but it took Google and my finding this site to figure out what the devil he was talking about.
  2. Not me. I would love to know the story. I checked RCDB and it looks pretty impressive to me (as far as 80's coasters are concerned).
  3. Annoying. Even more so when you are tired and just want to leave the park.
  4. and Dude... I know you from somewhere. You're just as "to the point" here as you are there.
  5. They are a rip-off, IMO. I especially liked the game operator who promised my 4 year-old son "You'll win something, dude. I promise" on the softball in the basket game and then gave him nothing but a "sorry" when he missed the basket. Then, you turn around and see grown men walking around with giant stuffed animals that they won playing in the duckey pond.
  6. Can someone confirm this? This sounds promising but I don't want to wait to enter the park only to be told that I need my permanent pass when I reach the ticket takers.
  7. I dunno? I spotted that on the KI web site and it seemed like a lot of money. Still, considering a large drink is nearly $4 now, it may be worth it.
  8. Question. Do the gates open prior to the stated opening time like they did in the old days or are still forced to wait outside the terrorist detectors until 10 AM?
  9. Ha! I had to register and post my first ever post to KIC just to poke fun at that ridiculous image. Aren't those F-15's? Flying over a Navy carrier?
