Well me and my friend got to the park about 10 after 9. The crowd was light which is what I had in mind. At 9:30 we headed to DB. I think we were about the 10th or so folks in line, we went for are front seat. We had intended to get 2 DB rides in before the park open but got 3 in, all front seat. After are 3 DB rides we headed to The Beast. We got 2 rides on that(front seat), rode Vortex for one ride(front seat) and then did a back seat ride on the Red Racer. We had a total of 7 rides in by 11:30am, my kinda day. The ride operators today really seemed to have there act together today. All the lines I was in, if you wanted to call them lines(everything seemed like a walk on), went very quickly. It seemed they were running the trains as quickly as one could. The only hold up was on Vortex for it seemed someone wasn't able to keep there breakfast down so they had to clean a train, which cuase the line to stop for a little bit, but can't blame anyone there. It was a very good Friday morning at the park.

My first trip to CedarPoint!
Keysersoze replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
In that case, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ride MF at night in the front seat unless you have a high tolerance for bugs. I sat in row 2 last year and was picking bugs out of my hair, teeth, contact lenses, nose, off my arms and shirt, and even out of my bra.. people returning to the station in the front seats were spitting/gagging/wiping their shirts.. some even choose to wear ponchos for night rides on MF to try and avoid the bug coatings.. yes, it is that bad, and no, I'm not exaggerating.. Been there done that, yes Cedar Point has a bug problem, guess thats what you get being right on the lake, I have swallowed my share of those. -
My first trip to CedarPoint!

Millie and Raptor are on my got to do if you go to the point list. I always front seat both, you won't be disappointed. Magnum is good, for it was the first 200 footer, just remember it's a Arrow coaster so it's giong to hurt a little, but if you want to see how things have come along with hyper-coasters in the last 20 years a compare of Magnum to DB and you'll see! -
No point... you're arguing for a slower launch The point is launching to 70 MPH is way more fun than launching to 55 or 60. Maintaing that speed for the rest of the ride would be painful and not fun. There's the point. They tried the heartline roll and it was too hard on the trains. Some things can not be known until an actual ride is operating under real natural forces. Computrer programs, simulators and even prototypes can not predict everything. True about computer simulators, but when you figure they spend 20 million and up for a coaster, it should come darn close. If not, hey Cedar Fair, I build ya a coaster, I got some spare metal in the backyard!
-
OK I'll give you that and Behemoth has trims on 3 of its hills(although I don't think there used, if they are it isnt much) just Intamin seems to be having issues with there latest rides. Maverick had design issues, and well there new log flume ride doesn't seem to be going so well at this point either.

I have to agree, I tend to get one Mean Streak ride in every time I go to Cedar Point(Mainly because there is never a line!). Those brakes at the top of the first drop are horrible. I do like how some now call Intimidator 305; Intrimidator 305! At first I thought KI should of gotten a 300 footer, But I guess only if B&M makes it! I don't recall DB having any problems like this. In this day and age of the computer, I would think these kind of problems would be worked out before they built it. Isn't this kind of flawed design issues that put Arrow out? I been reading a lot about folks blacking out on I305, that doesn't sound like fun to me. Even the orignal animation for I305 seem painfull to me. Maybe the folks at KD were hoping for something to top MF, but I just don't see that, there arn't no trims on MF. Say what you will about MF, I look at it like a piece of art, very well balanced, no need for trims, it was built right from the start, maybe they should of just built another one of those!
-
Age could have something to do with it, I been having the same problems this year and a little of last year. I did some research, seems to be pretty common. After my first visit to KI this year and almost getting sick after just one DB ride and one Beast ride I decided to do something about it. Motion Sickness pills do the trick. I guess Dramamine works fine, but I have been told there are drowsiness issues with that so I use pills that have Meclizine in it. Same as Dramamine but less Drowsy. I take them about a hour before riding and have no problems at all anymore.
-
I was there too, for the ERT. I love Sunday mornings, they always seem to be on the slow side, and my choice time of the week to go. 2 DB rides, one Beast ride, one Vortex and one Scrambler ride. I front seated all the coasters, bought a T-shirt and was still out of the park by 11:30 am.

Cedar Point 2010 Changes
Keysersoze replied to countess_of_tuscany's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I too almost had to take the walk of shame yeserday on MF. Never before has that happen. I have found a big belly isn't the big issue with the belts, its how wide your legs are. I do plan on losing more weight before my next CP trip but it doesn't do much for the leg thing. Another thing that always makes me laugh is there always so worried about the silly seat belt on MF yet to me the seats MF to me seem and look like junk. I guess they want to make sure your in your seat when the whole seat comes flying off! I have sat in better lawn chairs. I don't ride the dragster so I don't know about that ride but I never have this issue with any other coaster anywhere. I like the seats on DB, think what MF would be like with those seats. Yesterday was a good day overall, we got there at 9 am only to find MF down for the first couple of hours. That ended up being are last ride of that day. Something else I notice different is they cut down a few more trees. It's made me and my friend joke about how it seemed, taking the lights off the trees they where cutting down seemed like a after thought! We saw more then one very tall stump with strings of lights just hanging off them. They did a good job with growning the grass where Demon Drop used to be. If it was your first time to the park you would never know there used to be a ride there. -
Wow, it did sound like a good day. One of the reasons I avoid Cedar Point most of the year is the crowds. The Sunday afternoon crowds at Kings Island have spoiled me, and I demand walk on's! Anyway, Gald you enjoyed Millenium Force, that has to be my favorite steel coaster. The first drop from the front seat is well worth the extra wait, truely unbelievible. I got a chance to ride Behemoth up at Canada's Wonderland this summer and it kinda started to take that spot. Diamondback, Behemoth's sister, promisies the same punch if not more I think. I just have a feeling there are going to be a lot of happy folks next year at Kings Island.
-
Boy I wish they would. I love Vortex, great ride and even wonderful just to look at, a real piece of art, but the over the shoulder restraints kill me being 6'2". Even though it's a must ride for me everytime I'm there, it hurts me more then SOB anyday.
-
Same here but I was there yesterday and was sad to see all the trees cut down.
-
I was there in the morning, yes it was a great day for coaster riding.
-
I went last Sunday with my coaster bud, and at least for the coasters it was pretty dead. Everything was a walk on. I wasn't going to go today, but with the indian summer I got to go. So I'm packing my truck right now, and getting ready for my last rides of the year. If you see a somewhat tall middle aged dude with a bald spot and round black and gold sunglasses riding in the front seat alone today, it just might be me!

Yes Niagara Falls is very cool. I don't know if it would still be going on this time of year but "The Cave Of the Winds" is to me the best way to really feel the power of the falls. I have some friends up there, and I did some photographs for the Niagara Falls Parks back in the 90's. I don't think it would be open this year but "Dragon Mountian" in Marine Land is a nice very long arrow looper that is just a very short drive from the falls. I went up there this year to go to Toronto to ride "Behemoth". That is a killer coaster, I think we will be very pleased her sister "Diamondback ".
-
Just Wondering, I know it was said many times that while Cedar Point open Millennium Force they had Top Thrill Dragster in the works and when that open they had Maverick in planning. Now both Diamondback and it's sister ride Behemoth show up right after Cedar Fair took over. These are custom rides which I would think would take years of planning, that would mean Paramount would have been part of the planning stage. Any thoughts? I'm sure the offical word would be only Cedar Fair played a role in these rides, but I remember Son of Beast having a loop, which Cedar Fair now act's if it never happen and that new "flying" coaster I kinda remember being green and called X-flight!

I renewed my Platinum Pass at Kings Island yesterday. Price has gone up 10 bucks to $150.00 and if you renew they nock 10 bucks off to $140.00. They take your pass and your money and they update everything in the computer. They give you back your old pass and tell you that you use the same pass for the rest of this year and next year too. She did show my friend and me that in the computer it says 2009 now.
-
I got up to Toronto this year for Behemoth. I would say its one of the best coasters ever, and from what I have seen, I'm thinking Diamonback might even be better.
-
Ya sorry, you get the point. It's late, and I was just learning what I could about Pride Night, being that I'll be there for my first time. I just get so tired of hearing that same old crap. Everyone has freedom of religion and I feel my rights are being offended when others try to push their's on me. It's a private event so if your offended, don't come. Me, I plan on having a blast.

Now in my first post... Well not trying to start a debate or anything, but... "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders" (1 Corinthians 6:9) I posted this to show KIBeast that the Bible does say that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God. This was fitting in the topic because of his post. Many straights don't find two men or two women making out appealing, and I do not have any statistics to back this up, but I'm assuming the majority of park guests are these straights who don't want to see it. I was stating that many guests probably don't find it appealing. Many guests also don't find a man and woman making out appealing. However, (and once more, I don't have statistics to back this up) I think that more people would prefer not to see a man and man or woman and woman than they would prefer not to see a man and woman. This was in reponse to CoastersNSich's comment. Once more, I did not come into this topic to stir anything up, I was only responding to posts I had a response to. ...and then they wonder why we have a pride night. By the way, not all of us believe in the same God, this is America and freedom of religion is one of are rights. All of are rights.

How long did you wait? I heard even with a full que the line is only 25 to 30 minutes long. Ya the crew for Behemoth was killer, very fast. I think the lack of seat belts made for quicker load times. The seating is great, really nice cars.
-
I just got back from Canada and I rode Behemoth, more then once. I can tell you all, we will be very happy with are new coaster. Behemoth blew me away.
-
Ya we did it all. I been to Canada many times, and I use to do some photo work for the Niagara Parks. It was my buds first trip to the country so I had to show him as much as possible. Glass floor in the CN Tower was part of that, so was a train ride from Niagara Falls to Toronto. It was hot the days I went and I didn't notice much trims on the trims. Wonderful ride and it looks like KI's new coaster will have some of Behemoth in it! Sorry my buddy was looking for a medium shirt.

This is part 2 of my Niagara Falls, Toronto, Sandusky trip report. I got some rest so I'm ready to write. Wednesday July 30 ; Marineland Theme Park. We went to this park for one and only ride, "Dragon Mountain". This terrain arrow looper gave me and my buddy a good ride. It was a walk on with only one train running. I was told by others that Marineland was a park that you walk and walk before you see anything, and they were right! I felt like I walked 5 miles to the coaster and didn't see anything. I give the coaster a 7 out of 10. After are riding we walked around the park some, saw some animals, bears, killer whales and such. Then we headed to Toronto for Canada's Wonderland. Thursday July 31 ; We were very busy with this trip and it wasn't all just coaster stuff. My friend had never seen any part of this piece of the world and I had plenty to show him. What started this trip way back 10 months ago was when I heard about a new coaster being built at a Cedar Fair park, a coaster called "Behemoth", and we had Platinum passes. We spent the mornings at the amusement parks and the rest of the days exploring the land around us. 10 am we get into the park, free parking and admission(God I love my Platinum pass) and headed to the big yellow and blue monster. Me and my bud are front seat riders and to be fair that's the only place we rode everything. The seats are very comfortable and I was glad to see, no seat belts, just a large over the lap restraint that was fairly comforable. What surprised me was though I'm 6'2" my feet don't touch the floor of the ride when I'm seated, which I found very comforable. Almost floorless. I'm not a big fan of "air time" and maybe that's why I like "The Beast" so much but the "air" on Behemoth is right from god! It's smooth very very controlled air. Millennium Force is my favorite steel coaster and I think that's mainly because of the drop, speed and smoothness, Behemoth is my second. 10 out of 10. We did the woodies next, Mighty Canadian Minebuster and Wild Beast. Little painfull, I liked Mighty Canadian Minebuster better out of the two. Both were to me 7 out of 10's The park was getting crowded and so we took off to check out the giant city of Toronto. Friday August 1 ; Before leaving town for Sandusky we hit Canada's Wonderland for the early ride times on Behemoth. Early rides started at 9 am, and we were there at 8:15 am! We got 2 rides on Behemoth by 9:30 am and again it was incredible. I must complement the crew of Behemoth for they were insanely fast, really really good. I even had to stop at the guess relations to fill out a comment card for I was so floored. Killer job. We of coarse rode Dragon Fire for it was a arrow looper. I don't think I have even gone Thur corkscrews that fast ever before. 6 out of 10. We really didn't get to ride all we wanted for there was so much Toronto had to offer we had to use are time wisely. I was impressed how "Vortex" had such a long line, while the clone Flight Deck at my home park of Kings Island is usually a walk on. Vortex looks freshly painted at first look, yet Flight Deck looks like a rust bucket. Canada's Wonderland seems like a really nice park. Are only complaints was the lack of Behemoth T-shirts. I found one my size, but my buddy was left out for they were all sold out. Saturday August 2 ; Cedar Point is a madhouse. Thank God for there early ride times because me and my buddy usually take off around noon, to crowded, and I hate standing in lines. Sunday mornings at Kings Island have spoiled me. First was Millennium Force. That's always a 10 out of 10 for me, except at night, there's that bug issue. Then we did Raptor,Mean Streak, and Magnum XL-200. Got out of the park as everyone was coming in. I do love my Platinum pass, I sure hope Cedar Fair does it the same way next year. We headed back to Columbus the next morning after are early ride times. It was a great trip, and I sure hope what we are getting at Kings Island has a little Behemoth in it.

We saw it as we waited for "Ride of Steel" and even though we both liked woodies, when we saw everyones head bobbing over the hills on that ride, we both said, pass.
