The first part of your statement is true. The Beast has always had some level of trim brakes. The last part of your statement is false. The Beast is much faster with the brakes off, and it does not ride rougher. The Beast never did have that rediculous bounce that it now has until they started with their magnetic trims. I have ridden without trims, and will stand behind my statement. The Beast does NOT need trims to maintain smoothness.

^ Now if we could just get PTC to specifically not recommend trim brakes . . .

I have a reusable buy 1 get 1 free coupon. 1 ticket is $10. So you'd only owe me $5. Warning: I will tell the ride ops to crank it to Mach 4, and I will flip the cage.. it's not worth it unless you get the most out of your ride experience. Sweet! Sounds good to me! I'd love to watch that! This coming from the person that had a "hissy-fit" because I turned the cage over on the Rock-O-Plane!!!

Agreed!! Wow! I need to go ride that! That first hill looks amazing. CoasterFreak45, not only is the first hill amazing, the second is even better. The third is not bad either, then it gets crazy. If you like The Beast, you'll LOVE The Voyage!

^ That's two Some of the boats on Whitewater Canyon still have the Paramount logo on them.

I meant post that fast. You must be reading this topic. I wish I could have ridden in 1979. I didn't come into coasters until the mid-80's. At least I got to experience the trimless rides.
-
It wouldn't be the first time! How did you do that so fast??
-
What a good video to watch! It was nice to see The Racer racing, the old Beastie sign, and even the four bench trains on The Beast. And do my eyes decieve me, but I believe I see a Beast first drop with not a trim brake in sight! Ahhh, the good ole' days.

^ Well, it sounds like no one lost their butt Thursday!

^ If you figure 1600 riders per hour and Diamondback being open 12.5 hours each day, that comes to a hefty sum of 20,000 riders per day! Granted, that would be a perfect day, still, that's a lot of riders.

Maybe I'll see you there. Dare-to-fly and I will be at Strickers on the 4th too.

Thanks for your help guys! It is most appreciated!

Does KI have any designated place to park for motorcycles? Also, are there any lockers in the park big enough to lock up a helmet? I have searched and poked around the park website and have not found much. I know I'll get some good input from everyone here!

I think my best coaster ride ever happened at Kings Island during Halloween Haunt in 2007, on SOB of all coasters. The air was cool and it was misting rain, as it had been about all evening. The fog from the machines was drifting over everything, and the first drop was completely covered in fog. From the top, it was like the track disappeared. Then, as luck would have it, the operator went so far as to push the button and we blew through the MCBR without so much as a tug. It was an absolutely wonderful ride, one that I'll never forget.

Flyer, who wants to fly free of trims, and who also thinks The Beast Rider needs to learn how to spell queue. Gotta aggravate you somehow! Maybe, just maybe, the tide is beginning to turn on trim brakes. I'm seeing it come up more often here lately. Has KI finally gone too far?

I really, really wish that Kings Island would take a great big hint from Holiday World. I don't like being treated like an inconvenience at a ride, either. They need to look at how HW runs their wooden coasters, too. Trim brakes everywhere you turn. Basketballs. The line jumpers are annoying, but I refuse to let one or two ruin my day at the park. I usually go with my brother, and we can make a good roadblock in the que line when needed. I miss the nice music that Paramount had playing on I-street. It did fit the mood of the tower and the fountain much better than the loud music (I think you can call it music) that they play now.

Cedar Point TR MUST READ!
The Beast Rider replied to Jasper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
You sure pegged that one! They are trying their best to do that to The Beast. So far this season, they have done a fantastic job of it, too. Sounds like you picked a really great day to go to the point! Gotta love Millie and Maggie (especially when Maggie is running trimless! ) -
^ I remember those. They did have a few funny ones. They also had some completely off the wall and stupid ones too! I really wish that people would wear normal clothes when they go out in public. The saggy pants and the shirts with no sides are just plain tacky.

When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
The Beast Rider replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
The ACE plaque is now located just to the left of the que line, right after you enter. The next time you go, right after you go into the line, look to the left. You will see a telephone hanging on a post (right across from the vending machines). The plaque is just behind that telephone in the newly landscaped area. -
I think that is about the best description I've seen yet. The theming on FOF, while the ride did not change, the experience has changed. The video that used to play and the lighting effects that were there all made the ride come alive. Look at the theming that was at Top Gun. From the moment you walked in, you were surrounded by the music, movie posters, Fightertown USA on the wooden fence, etc. The actual coaster has not changed (even the paint or lack thereof) but the experience is just not the same.

When Will The Lights Go Out For The Beast? (or ON!)
The Beast Rider replied to PKISecurity's topic in Kings Island
I must be missing something. Where in this post does he say The Beast is not still popular? The "is" should be "has", but I'll leave the grammar police up to Dare-to-Fly. -
^ Ah, good ole Magnum. That is my very favorite coaster at Cedar Point. I didn't really like Maverick very well, but I did not ride in the front seat. I'll try that the next time I'm up that way. I have noticed that Terpy's suggestions are usually spot on!

^ I know, isn't it wonderful? It's my favorite time of the year to go to KI, especially if the weather is nice.
-
Well, don't keep us in suspense! Which one is your favorite? It is hard to come up with a favorite. The second hill on Diamondback and the last bunny hop before the turn around on The Racer are good ones. I also like the funky transitions on Vortex and AE too.

Way to go, Giga!! That's about the best post of them all! Anyway, I got several trimless rides on Magnum during the ERT, as well as the trimless rides on Gemini. Sometime Saturday evening Gemini was running trimless again, but during the day it was trimmed almost beyond recognition. Mean Streak was trimmed to the point of stupidity too, even though I managed to score one trimless ride there, much to Dare-to-Fly's chagrin. Edit: SOB_Tom: some coasters the trim brake is controlled from the control panel. It has a handy little switch to turn it on or off. Also, did you know that the mid-course trim brake on SOB can be overridden at the press of a button?
