  1. You may be a KI addict if you: Made the hour drive there just to process your season pass so you can jump into DB's line early on opening day. Took a picture at the front gate with your newly processed season pass. Drove around in the houses off of Western Row Rd trying to get close enough to hear Diamondback's roar.
  2. gigacoaster2k and myself got our platinum passes processed yesterday at about 5 p.m.
  3. I wouldn't call the Apollo's Chariot incident a landing though ... more like a coaster train getting in the way of it's flight path.
  4. I don't know about anyone else on this forum, but I'm not an engineer. Nor am I an electrician. Nor am I anyone who has any idea how the magnets actually work other than the fact they're magnets. How am I supposed to know whether or not they could cause a danger? I figure it's better to be safe and think about it, than to assume that all will be well.
  5. You must have a processed pass to enter the park. However, I remember seeing other places on this site (I may try to track it down for you) that Cedar Point is now allowing their passes to be processed at other parks because they are opening so late this year. So you should be able to process at KI on opening day. I don't know when CP will being pre-season processing. Processing will probably open an hour before the park does. So probably 9 a.m. Maybe 8 am if you're lucky. Edit: Found the information for CP. Their processing begins April 22nd. You may process at any Cedar Fair park at any time, though I'm guessing that means your season pass will say Kings Island on it instead of Cedar Point. Unless they're changing the design this year and they'll all say Cedar Fair rather than a certain park, that's always a possibility. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/admission....cfm#redemption
  6. Good point on the magnets on Drop Zone. It's something he'd want to talk to his doctor about. Flight of Fear might be an issue also because it uses magnets as well.
  7. It's probably going to better to rent a wheelchair for him, to prevent him from having to stand on it in line or walk on it for a long time. I can imagine that if he has problems standing on it a long time, he wouldn't want to do a lot of walking on it either. This would also allow him handicap access to the line. From what I understand, for handicap, you go up the exit and they put you on the train after a short wait (if it's a short line) or tell you when to come back (if it's a long line, so you end up waiting the same amount as everyone else) so they can put you on a train. As long as he can get into the car under his own power without assistance, and does not have a cast or splint that could cause injury to someone else, they must allow him to ride under the ADA.
  8. It's good to see that they've replanted some of the trees that have been removed. Those will be nice as they grow to full height.
  9. That only shows the pre-opening day hours. They haven't announced the hours during the operating season yet.
  10. I was terrified of Phantom Theater as well. I also remember being terrified of Disney's Haunted Mansion. I was not big on scary things as a child.
  11. I can imagine that fish and the splashdown feature would not get along very well. I imagine it will be chemically treated to reduce the chance of illness being spread on the off chance the wind is blowing in just the right way to get riders wet.
  12. You should actually fill in your profile a little bit. :P

  13. Yes, but as learned from SFOG experience, three fences is not enough to stop someone.
  14. I don't know that I've ever called it either name. It's just the water park. Even when I worked there, within the merch department it was always called "water park" when referring to the area, rather than "WaterWorks" (it's proper name at the time).
  15. I think a lot of people would be happy just to see a better effort made. Any time I read trip reports from SFA, there's usually more than one major ride down, and no effort being made to open them. I know the locals would be happy just to see the effort there, and fewer days with major rides down.
  16. I'd be happy to see this being a reality - I'll be there the last week of May and will report on how successful they are at this goal.
  17. Stay at the KOA campground that's just off the causeway. It's called Bayshore Estates. Just make sure you ask them for a site as far away from the railroad tracks as they can put you, since there is one section of tent sites practically on top of the tracks. If you're lucky, you'll get a site where you can hear the waves on Lake Erie and it makes for a very pleasant background to sleep by. Their bathrooms are great, too - clean, modern, and nice big showers with plenty of hot water. It only took between 5 and 10 minutes to get from our tent to the parking lot at CP. We stayed there in October during Halloweekends at a site with electric. Setting up a small ceramic heater, we had a very cozy tent, listened to the waves, and ate hot dogs cooked over the fire pit. It was a great experience, definitely one I'd do again.
  18. Ok sorry but I have to ask... What was Skylab? It was an enterprise ride, like Witch's Wheel at Cedar Point. An enterprise relies on G-forces to hold you in, so there's no restrains inside of each passenger cage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_(ride)
  19. I'm sort of doubting they'd take that big of an undertaking this year, with Diamondback and all the work on The Beast this year. But, you never know. You're also very observant to have seen the differences - I sure never noticed them. Good eye.
  20. I'm a sucker for a good woodie.
  21. I'm kind of mixed - the Rivertown rides I call by their new name, the Action Zone ones I call by their old name, not really sure why. Oh, and it will always be Beastie, because I think Fairly Odd Coaster is a stupid name and Beastie fit it so much better. I still call Congo Falls, Amazon Falls even after all these years. I haven't gotten Invertigo to roll of my tongue without thinking about it yet, and I think Top Gun sounds better than Flight Deck. Drop Tower will just always be Drop Zone to me, maybe because it was used on two different rides so I have a hard time with no rides using it.
  22. That only shows the hours before opening day. As for the hours after opening day, I think they usually open an hour before the park does.
