I'm in college full time, and my husband only gets one week off each year for vacation. We couldn't come until early Thursday morning, so we wanted to spend more than 2 days at the park. We did drive over 5 hours to get here..We've been to the park on holidays, saturdays, etc...but NEVER have I seen crowds like today. Ever.
-
Ok. This was the worst trip to KI in my lifetime. Seriously. The crowds were unbearable. We parked in the last row at the park. I wish I were kidding. There were 3 parking spots left (The side near the gas station). When we finally made it through the park, the line for the Backyard BBQ spanned past Runaway Reptar. The line for Diamondback stretched to Potato Works. The line for Vortex was at the Scrambler. The line for Delirium was out at the game near Festhaus.. We were there 5 hours before we could get our kids on ANY ride. We waited 2 hours for the Fairly Oddcoaster. I waited half an hour for the restroom with my youngest daughter, who almost didn't make it in time. Waited 1.5 hours for Scrambler. Regardless of the situation, my kids had fun with what little they could do. And I got my first ever night ride on The Beast. Took from 9:30pm until 11:45pm to finally get through the line and ride. Awesome ride, I will say. However, BB was closed, so we had to walk from the front gate allllll the way to the last row to get to our vehicle. When we arrived at our vehicle, my kids read the back of our windshield. In big bold letters, it simply stated "JACKA$$" We had to get an old shirt to clean it off. I'm glad we are going home tomorrow. I hope our trip next month fairs better. In a few, I'll upload some pics from today's crowds.

Say hello if you recognize me (I'll be in a brown shirt today, instead of red...with 3 kids, KI double stroller and a bald hubby) We are heading over in a few. Will be there until closing.

Hasn't done The Racers yet. I'm trying to convince her we should ride the blue train and yell GO UK haha...We are leaving soon for the park, I hope she'll change her mind and experiment today.
-
I'm just happy to be there BTW, if any of you are at the park today, and you see a little short gal with 3 kids (a double stroller) and a bald hubby..come say hello I'm in a brown shirt today and jean skirt. I really shouldn't be hard to spot. This is what I look like...

Has she rode Adventure Express? If she hasn't get her on it. She rode it yesterday, the lift hills freaked her out..then she was disappointed with the no drop thing hehe. That's her thing, going up. The dips, etc do not bother her..she just gets nervous going uphill. I've tried to tell her if she likes AE, she'll LOVE FlightDeck. She is 53" tall.

Hahha...EVERY time we go, Little Bill chases my husband down to rub his head. Day before yesterday, Little Bill wouldn't stop until I took a picture. I found it amusing
-
I know what you mean. I'd never take mine on if they were crying..but just a bit of nerves, yeah I'm gonna get them to try it out. And as much as she loves spinning rides, I know she'll fall in love with Delirium. Speaking of spinning rides, we must have gotten the loosest Monster seat on the entire ride yesterday. We were spinning so fast everything was a blur. I almost lost my blue ice cream lol. She wanted more spin, holy cow.

Haha. That's sounds like my mom. But she's probably older than you. haha I'll be 31 soon. And going gray already. Getting older beats the alternative.

Here's another thing I've noticed..and it cracks my kids up every time we walk by There's a store in the Coney Mall area (forget the name of it) that has skeletons modeling the clothes/guitars in the window of the shop. One has on a mullet wig and has a cigarette in it's mouth. My daughter says "Smoking will kill ya. Oh wait! You're dead. Carry on." And laughs like crazy.
-
She isn't horrified, she just thinks it's going to be more than what she expects. Last time we visited the park, she did not want to ride Shake, Rattle & Roll and I talked her into getting on. It's her favorite ride now. We have been on it around 12 times this trip alone. She's a bit dramatic (gets that from my mother in law ) But in the end, she ends up loving the rides. It's just getting her on the first time.

It shouldn't be to crowded because It's a friday night and most teens will be at their high school football games. Like me In other words, the old people come out to play on Friday nights hahhahahha

Good grief. This thread reaffirmed what I already knew. I'm old.

I'm getting excited about my first Haunt experience. My husband is bringing me for my birthday this year. It is Oct 2, so we are gonna make it a weekend. Hopefully it isn't crowded.

I've considered the drag on method. That's what my Dad did to me when I was around 5. We visited Dollywood and I hadn't been on a "big" coaster (apart from the huge Little Dipper at Camden Park lol) and I was crying. He said 'You are riding, like it or not'. Well, since getting off of that ride, I've been addicted. Thing is, we took her to CP when she was 4 1/2. I got her on Mean Streak and Corkscrew...and she loved it. Now she sees The Vortex and immediately says NO WAY. I really think she'd enjoy FlightDeck. Shoot, I spent half of yesterday trying to talk her into riding BLSC. And failed.

So my husband and I are in the process of hooking our kids on riding. My oldest daughter is tall enough to ride everything in the park (except Diamondback) and she is very skiddish. So, I'm breaking her in lightly. Now, my other 2 daughters would ride everything, if they were taller lol. Yesterday, I finally talked my oldest into riding AE. I didn't tell her about the fake-out hills. I figured this would be a good ride to show her things aren't as bad as they seem. Well, she freaked on that last lift lol...then when nothing happened, she actually booed! I had to laugh. When we pulled back into the station, and we were asked about our ride, she screamed so loud and clapped...I was one proud mama. Now, onto my other 2. We've never been able to get everyone on the Fairly Oddcoaster at once. Last night, we did. Nothing is sweeter than sitting behind my family, watching little hands raise in the air going down hills, and seeing their reaction when we pull into the station. My husband and I were beaming with pride when they asked to ride FO in the dark How great is this picture? Now, if only I can convince my oldest to ride FlightDeck and Delirium with me....Any pointers? We gotta break her of her fear:)

I've been to both many times (more than I could count) I would have to say I agree with the others. You simply can not compare the two. I consider CP my go-to for coasters. But if I want a family experience (keep in mind I have little ones) I choose Kings Island, hands down. KI is 5.5 hours from me, and CP is around 6 hrs away. We could go to either, but honestly...we choose KI for a reason. I dunno, I love CP, but it seems...cold. I don't know how to explain that. KI is very welcoming. It could be because I spent my summers at KI when I was growing up. What can I say, there's a special place in my heart for the Island.

Try packing around a DSLR camera all day I always look so....well...touristy, but that camera takes some awesome pics. I have decided to leave it at the hotel and take my point and shoot (it fits in my husband's cargo pants). We are staying until closing tonight, so yeah, I don't want the hassle. AND...I'm taking my first ever Diamondback and Beast "in the dark" rides tonight. Was in line last night, forgot to give my big camera to my husband...and stepped out of line real quick. I mean, he was right there at the bench near the landmark sign. Then the ride closed for fireworks and I couldn't get back in line. That truly sucked. I missed it by less than a minute. Asked the guy standing where the phone is if I could go on (people were hopping over the closed sign) and he said no. Sometimes being an honest person has penalties lol

Thanks My Facebook pals just don't understand why I take so many pics of the park hehe...I suppose some people will never understand an addict's love for the place, or why we find pieces of wood and steel beautiful.
-
Thank you I need to invest in a tripod to prevent blurring. Maybe I'll remember one before we come back for Labor Day.
-
I have more to add from today/tonight Sorry there are so many...I was in a picture mood today

I wanted to get a pic of the flowers near Plankton's Plunge, but the line was wrapped around the Spongebob water thing...and well, I just couldn't get close enough to get the shot I wanted. But, I have until Sunday
