  1. LOVED Boo Blasters. My kids HATED it. It was a little more intense for them than I was expecting. Very pleased with it though..

    Closed Rides

We were there the entire day. Invertigo never opened. Bumper cars were down while we were in that area, as was BLSC. The red racer was down for a large portion (if not all?) of the day. The Beast closed for a while as we were waiting in line. Reptar (whatever it is now) never opened. Flight of Fear was down while we were in line and Boo Blasters was down for a little while as we waited too. I joked that we brought bad luck to the rides, since everything we stood in line for had to stop at some point. Monster was also down during the evening, as was Delirium. I think that is all of the closures we encountered. It was pretty crowded today, so rides being down really added to wait times. I think we waited over an hour for the Scrambler (and were attacked by termites, ick!) All in all, I'm pleased with our trip. The ride closings were a bit annoying, but understandable. It was the first day, afterall. Hope everyone had a great time
  3. Before my kiddos were off to school this morning, I showed them pics of the new ride. They were in complete awe. My youngest kept looking over the pictures and I had to eventually take the laptop so she'd go on to school lol. Needless to say, after viewing that and pics of the former Little Bill's Giggle Coaster, we are all very excited over our trip in a few weeks.
  4. Hahha..The tape measure came out and they all said "IS IT OPEN?!" We've talked about opening day for a few weeks now. They are so very excited to see the changes for Planet Snoopy. My youngest is still sad that Spongebob is gone, but I think she'll warm up to Snoopy in no time. After they were measured, I had to show them the ride list. All 3 went through it and picked out what they can now ride this year. (It'll be nice to turn the youngest loose on some kiddie rides without Mommy and Daddy getting on too hehe)
  5. I'm so happy. They've grown quite a bit since their last trip. My 9 year old is now 55" tall (maybe she'll want to take her first Diamondback ride!). My 8 year old is 48" tall, and finally gets to ride The Beast. She wanted to ride it and Vortex last year. And my 6 year old is now 44" tall. She can finally get on Avatar. This season is going to be awesome!
  6. I'm very pleased with the meal discounts. Having 3 kiddos, the LaRosa's and Subway deal will feed us very cheap-like. We always get food from both of those places. $30 isn't bad at all for an entire pizza, salad and drinks.
  7. That picture was taken inside of the former Nickelodeon Store. Trust me, I spent a lot of time in that place last season.
  8. I took my (very expensive) DSLR to the park on several occasions last season. We always rented a locker up front, I feel they are safer for some reason. Anyways, my husband would put the key around his ankle..which is a good way to keep it in place. I usually take it in the park when I want shots of my kids, something special is going on or I feel like getting a bunch of ride pics. Otherwise, I bring my cheap point and shoot. We had an incident back in the summer of leaving my DSLR camera somewhere in the park. Still haven't figured out how it went from my husband's shoulder to wherever it landed. He had it on across his chest too. That still baffles us. Anyways, we didn't notice it was missing until getting back to our hotel. We drove back to the park and some very VERY kind person had turned it in to lost & found. Very lucky that day....
  9. Terpy should say hi once in a while lol And yes, it has been rough here. We were blessed to keep our power, but my parents lost theirs until Tuesday of last week. The storm occurred on Dec 18. I couldn't get them here due to us living on a hill. We were pretty much stuck up here. No way up, no way down (safely lol). Someone was kind enough to take them a kerosene heater a few days after the storm hit. As of right now, we have 5 inches on the ground, and are due for 8 more. I'm not sure this place is prepared just yet for another storm.
  10. The snow was gorgeous, but it caused a LOT of problems.. 98% of my county lost power, and at least 90% of them didn't get there power back until this week (2 weeks later) The tree in the photos with the heavy snow is no longer standing. While out filming a bit with my camera phone...it fell. There were/are trees EVERYWHERE here. It's a disaster. 0:25 secs into the video, you can hear it crash. (the rest of the video is nothingness) I have several videos from that night of various trees around my house falling. View My Video
  11. Just noticed the request for pics from the last storm..here are some of my favs (all were taken from my yard, obviously):
  12. Well, I'm a bit further away than the rest of you guys. I'm in southeast Kentucky. We currently have around 5 inches, with more to come. Should have 10-12 by the end of the week. Here's a picture I took around 10am I have some really good pics from the last big snowstorm here a few weeks ago. The one that knocked out power to my entire county. If anyone wants to see 'em, let me know and I'll throw them up here.
  13. It's no longer "Bubba Gumps." It's now called Outer Hanks. I believe the food is the same, even in the back bar area. TY, for your reply. I was meaning to mention the back area. When the park is crowded I love to sit back there. I eat sip a cold frosty beer and people watch... I love that bar ( I don't drink ) but I do LOVE their fries with pulled pork on top. Yummy! *sigh* I miss it so bad, I bought fries and pulled pork last night. Gonna make it sometime this week as a snack I am not much of a drinker either, however I do like to have one on a hot day. But this year your first fries with pork are on me!!!! ....... They used to have the loaded fries with everything on them i so hope they still do. OK now I am extremely hungry, Thanks PCC//// lol Hahahah woohoo! Yeah, they have loaded fries as well. I was getting ready to ride Invertigo, so I figured loaded fries would be a terrible idea

  15. The fajita was awesome, but I do think for one and no drink..it was a bit overpriced. It was located on a stand near the cave thing. As for the pizza, that was bought down around the kid area. We were floored when they told us the price. We usually do not eat on that end, and stay up around the Blazing Fury area restaurants. It was a whole pizza, but still. We went there with $500 (we were in TN for my Grandfather's funeral and took the kids as a getaway from the mourning) and came out with $0. Just bought our tickets ($230 for one admission) dinner, some snacks and played a few games. We generally avoid the PF/Gatlinburg area due to expenses. It's the taxes there that get ya.
  16. I do not have a fear of heights...I'll get on anything, no matter what height. BUT, ferris wheels are a whole other story. I hate those things with a flaming passion. I don't care if it is caged like CP's...I get a bit panicky on those things and I'm not sure why. Could be from my childhood years spent at Camden Park. I'd get on their ferris wheel with friends and they'd rock the thing just to get a reaction out of me. And it wasn't a good reaction. My kids LOVE ferris wheels, but I let daddy do the riding there. Nope no how, I'm not going on one. Last time I was on one was 2005, at CP, and I freaked the entire time. My kids (who were 5, 3 and 2 at the time) just looked at me like I was the world's biggest idiot. Another ride that freaks me out, but I'll ride is the Witches Wheel at CP. I just do not feel secure in those cars. *shudders*
  17. Go to Dollywood, then complain about KI's food prices We bought 1 pizza (pep & cheese) and drinks for our family of five. Price? $70 Quality? Bleh...We bought pizza and drinks at La Rosa's at KI for around $30. And I actually like La Rosa's pizza. Bought a fajita at Dollywood...it was $9. Can't compare that to anything at KI, since there are no fajita stands, but yeah. You get my drift. For the most part, we try not to eat in any park, but sometimes it's inevitable. I can say this, KI workers are much more kind when you ask for a free cup of water. I had some pretty nasty looks at Dollywood when I asked for just a cup of ice. And this is one of many reasons why KI is our home park. It's the furthest of the few parks we have close by (Dollywood, Camden Park and Kentucky Kingdom), but the workers and atmosphere make the extra miles worthwhile. I do love Dollywood, but I really feel as though it is a park geared more towards sightseers (shoppers) than riders. So many shops, you HAVE to walk through some just to get through the park. I'm getting off topic lol, but let's just say it could be worse. And I must say, I'm quite thankful for Rivertown Junction. We have enjoyed many meals there this year. It's an excellent place to eat when you have picky eaters...plus it's not that expensive. All you can eat/drink AND dessert. And it's air conditioned
  18. I would love to see a system like that implemented. We drive 5 1/2 hours one way to get to the park, and given my school schedule and my husband's work schedule..we can usually get in a full day on Saturday and partial day on Sunday, then we have to come home. Normally we make 1-2 trips per year. This year was a bit different since my husband's job hours were reduced, so we were able to get away several weekends. Anyways, with 3 kiddos, our time is very valuable. Sometimes we do not get in all of the rides everyone wants. Something like that would be a great help to us.

    VIP Rider

I call dibs on Avatar. That ride is highly underrated.
  20. Quickdraw McGraw stealing my hat in front of ET when I was 12...and running around like crazy trying to get it back. Klingons realizing they were scaring the crap out of me, and playing it up bigtime throughout the day. Searching for Yogi Bear, but never finding him Those are just a few. However, my favorite memory would have to be our trip in July? August? Anyways...we had breakfast with the characters. We were the only family up there that morning. It was on a Sunday. We went to the park JUST for breakfast. Spongebob put on a real show for my kids. It was great seeing their eyes light up as he did silly things. The funniest of all, he tried to go to the bathroom, had to go in the door sideways, and actually flushed the toilet. My girls thought that was hilarious. He even ran water like he was washing his hands. By far, the best. We had Spongebob to ourselves for an hour. How great is that?
  21. My email was sent. It was short and to the point. I have yet to receive a reply.... *update* This just come to my inbox: "Thank you for visiting the City of Mason's website and for your comments. I will forward your e-mail to all Council members for their consideration. We appreciate your time in writing to express your opinion on this matter." Meh, generic.
  22. Will do. I'll fire up one tomorrow and get my friends who visit the park with me to do the same. If I'm feeling frisky enough, I will call the man.
  23. I have a question. Since I live over 5 hours away, it's not feasible for me to attend the meeting. Do you think they'd read letters sent to them? If so, could someone get me an address? *edit* Nevermind, I found the email address on page 4
  24. Spend time with my kiddos and husband Concentrate on my studies Enjoy the winter "downtime" since my spring/summer/fall will be jam packed with school Try to plan out a few trips to KI next year, since I'm only going to have a total of 4 weekends free during 2010
