  1. Wow, that's cool. What is that yellow stand up coaster in the video? King Cobra. It was one of my favorites.
  2. This is going to show my age...but this is one of my most memorable videos of KI from back in the day. This song ran through my head more times than I could count...
  3. Actually the night I was there, the dead center 3 rows were roped off, not the back. I just assumed there was a restraint issue that night. Many times while at amusement parks, I see various seats "closed" and on the opposite side, or same car, just depends on what kind of ride it is. I figured it was a balancing deal or all were in the same locking mechanism. Never really put a lot of thought into it, other than, well there's a few less seats available.
  4. No new clothes for Haunt! Haunt WILL bite you
  5. If I know something will offend me, I will not go to wherever or whatever it may be. I take personal responsibility. That being said, I'm a highly religious person ( I won't go into details, but those from here who have met me know just by looking at me...) ANYWAYS, Haunt is one of my FAVORITE times of year. The park transforms into something straight out of the movies. You do not know what lurks around each corner. The fog sets the tone perfectly. I enjoy a good scare, and I have found nothing 'satanic' about the park. I know many people who object to celebrating Halloween and I know people who will not decorate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter. That's what makes this country great. We have freedoms and choices. Those people know that Haunt would not be enjoyable for them, so they avoid it. To each their own. But, to call for the entire event to be cancelled because you do not agree with the theme is ludacris. It's sort of like walking in to a XXX theater and being shocked that pornography is showing. How dare they? I'm not trying to personally attack you, but you need to step back and re-evaluate some of the things you have said. NO one should be fired for doing their job. If you are at Haunt, you are fair game. They assume that if you have paid to get in, you are there for that event and wish to participate. There are warnings all over, even on the website. If you do not like that atmosphere, then by all means, wait until spring when the park returns to normal. The ONLY reason the park is even open in October is to host Haunt. I knew the very first time I attended Haunt what was going to take place. I knew the park would be decorated for Halloween, and that I would get scared/startled during my time in the park. Meh. That's all I'm saying on the matter. Perhaps I fed a troll. Perhaps this is real. Either way, I think the initial post was a bit harsh. Knowledge is power. Inform yourself before you go somewhere.
  6. I did not watch the show, but I wanted to chime in here and say I felt extremely safe last night, and we were on the last Beast train of the night..so we had to walk through an almost empty park. All day/night there were security personnel EVERYWHERE. Lines for rides, stations, random places throughout the park. I couldn't tell you how many yellow jackets there were, but security was heavy. Not once did I feel threatened or unsafe. It was nice to have security in line rides. It cut out line jumping completely. My only 2 issues from last night were smokers in line rides (my allergies went nuts and I'm still dealing with that today) and teenagers flipping off ride cameras. My husband and I wanted to buy pictures from the rides but were only able to do so once. All the others ended up being locked due to vulgar things. Otherwise, if you have any doubts about going due to safety issues, I honestly wouldn't worry. Crowds were HEAVY, but very well controlled. Go have fun.
  7. Don't work there, but I do want to chime in and say you guys are all doing a fantastic job. I was very entertained last night! Even more so closer to midnight when the roamers were going after anyone and everyone. There was a moment in Action Zone that was awesome. This older lady was sitting at the tables in front of Delirium having a conversation with someone. One of the scare actors sat behind her very easily, then poked her on the shoulder. She turned to the left, nothing. She turned to the right, saw his face and jumped/screamed. We got a good kick out of that. The interactions with guests are top notch and highly entertaining. I wish I could make it back one more time this year, but there's always next year. Keep up the fantastic work, you are all very much appreciated! (also want to say thanks for taking time out to take a picture with me or taking time out to pose for a picture)
  8. We only hit up 3 Haunts...here's my reviews (void of many details to keep from spoiling): Slaughter House: This was my first time going through this maze. I wish we had waited until it was dark, but it opened at 6pm and I wanted to take advantage of the small line. While waiting, my husband and I were very entertained by the "pre-show". This guy was hilarious "Did I give you permission to take my picture? I SAID, DID I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO TAKE MY PICTURE?!" I couldn't help but laugh as he posed for me. No one was off limits and some of the things he came up with were hilarious. Once inside, we were greeted by a woman (I could not get names of characters since the teenage girls in there with us were screaming like crazy). My husband was impressed with the guy with in the first room with weird eyes, white face and messed up head. (again we couldn't really interact with the characters since the girls were going nuts). A few of the actors caught me off guard and scared me. One of which was the pig looking guy. The ending would have been FANTASTIC in the dark. I will not give it away, but if you haven't been, this is a must-see attraction. Next year, if this attraction returns, I'll be there to go through it again. I rate it 8/10 (would have been 10/10 had it been dark) Club Blood: I went through Club Blood last year and LOVED it. My husband sat that one out last year and wanted to see it this year. I built it up. Maybe too much. We waited in line for 90 minutes. I have to say, it was nothing like last year and I was disappointed. Seems as though some scenes have been removed. One room was so foggy, we couldn't see any actors and nothing was going on there. No scares, just fog. I missed the guys jumping out of the corners last year with the bungie things. Actually, I can say we only saw around 5 actors in there. The guy with the mic was fantastic and everyone inside did a great job, but the end was meh. My husband and the people with us all said "That's it?!?" We felt like we wasted our time going through. I don't actually recall seeing any vampires. Maybe some were on break? Anyways, 5/10 Massacre Manor: We went through this attraction around midnight. The line was very short, so we were afraid it wouldn't be good. I knew nothing about this attraction, so we had no idea what to expect. The guy at the door was great..Once inside we were given an intro in the front room. I was about 3 people from the front at this point. Once we stepped further in, I was chosen to be leader. From that point on, it was a bizarre, disorienting trip through the house. I had no idea where to go (which makes this FANTASTIC!) I love not having sense of direction and wondering what is around each corner. I was startled SEVERAL times throughout the attraction. One room in particular was very disorienting which added to the suspense of what was going on. At the end, we ran into the group in front of us. What happened next was nothing short of hilarious. We were getting ready to go in the final room. My shirt was glowing white from the blacklights....the girls in front of us were screaming their heads off. I push away the plastic leading to the next room and they see me. One woman pointed at me and screamed bloody murder, then her entire group followed. While laughing at them, they ran into the final scene and screamed, running back into us. We had to step back into the other room because they were knocking things over and one almost knocked me down. I was laughing so hard at them. I rate this 10/10. I rarely get startled, but this attraction did the job. My husband and I were both very surprised with the talent in there. I'll hit this up again next year as well! That's all we had time for, we spent the rest of the night riding and people watching. All in all, fantastic!
  9. Where's my "like" button? Diggin' the new look!
  10. Well. Um, I was disappointed that I probably won't get to attend Haunt this year due to labor & delivery clinicals on Saturdays not ending until 5pm. My instructor was going to let me leave out early on my bday (Oct.2) so I could go, if it wasn't a busy day delivering babies. That being said, maybe we should just skip this year. As much as it pains me to say that. I love Haunt and the atmosphere, but yes, this will bring out some unsavory characters. Most likely the same types I see in the hospital from time to time that really put an irk in my day. Why subject myself to more of that when I'm trying to detach from that atmosphere and have some fun? Listen, I live in eastern Kentucky. I know what people are capable of, I know what behaviors will be exhibited. Kings Island is going to have their hands full. (I could be very wrong, but gut instinct says I'm right). We may change our mind and attend, but right now...no. And that's really a shame.
  11. ^ Dad used to visit back in the mid to late 70's....I'd say that is what he was thinking of instead of the dolphins.
  12. Personally, I'd rather hear complaints of crowds than emptiness lol. We have traveled 5 hours one way to go to the park and get in only a few rides due to the crowds. Does that make us never want to return? Nope. We hit company and group days twice this year. The other 2 times, it was walk-on to most rides with 10 minute or less wait on the more popular. It's a risk you take when going. I'm just glad they're doing well. That is good news for all of us (be positive!)
  13. Funny this was mentioned. I have no recollection of dolphins, but just a few weeks ago, a friend and I went round and round on this. He said "Do they still have the dolphins there?" I looked at him like he was nuts. I told him he was crazy. lol. Anyways, we went round and round on the topic and my Dad walks by. I grab him and say "Please tell him there were never any dolphins at the park" Then he looked at ME like I was the crazy one. He said "Uh, we took you to see them so many times. I am sure we have pictures. You even got wet on several occasions from the splashing" I felt dumb..but still doubted. I need to get him to find the pictures so I can scan them. He said they used to be around Timberwolf.

    New Music

Ya know, I always find upbeat or nursery type songs ( I love you, you love me..etc) playing during something scary makes it even more so...it's demented lol. Take for instance, Time Is On My Side in the movie Fallen. Creepy and effective.

    Sponge Bob ?D

The Days of Thunder ride was awesome. I loved the ending when everyone gathered around the car to cheer your win....and the seat moved as if they were rocking the car. Back then, it wasn't 3D, but it was fantastic. As for the $1 glasses, we bought them a few months ago and I enjoyed Boo Blasters much better with them on. We have the glasses in our vehicle so we can use 'em whenever we go.
  16. I do not consider my post to be bashing or making fun. Simply stating facts....if it came across that way, I do apologize. I'm not that kind of person.
  17. ^ It's late, I'm getting old and slow
  18. There is a height restriction on ET?? I've taken my youngest up there over the past few years (and she is still under 48" tall) with no issues at all. I thought the only restriction was that those under a certain height had to be accompanied by a responsible person...

    Sponge Bob ?D

Days of Thunder....those were the days. Sitting there waiting for the movie to begin, listening to "There's gonna be a heartache tonight.....a heartache tonight I know...." and dangling my legs to the beat.
  20. Once again, it was nice meeting you...we shall ride again soon!

  21. My middle daughter hit the magic number over the summer and has been on the rides you mentioned. There were no issues with her hitting her head on anything or almost falling out. And yes, we were seated with someone much larger than ourselves on Surf Dog. All 3 of my kids know the rules. You sit in your seat, do as the ride op says, don't look back, brace yourself and have fun. Kids have a good concept of safety rules. Just explain to your nephew what he can/can't do on rides. I always stress that if my kids do not do as they should, no more rides. I have never had a problem. They take a seat, buckle up (if the ride has belts) and hold their little arms up when the ride ops come around to check. If there were any question at all on safety of young riders, the park would up the height requirement. I'm not going to beat the dead horse on park hours...but let me say this, the internet is a valuable pre-planning tool.
  22. I think it will be an awesome ride. I do love coasters, but I discovered a highly underrated ride this past weekend. Zephyr. I never go on it. Why? It's just a swing. My daughter wanted to try it out, so I hopped on with her. Needless to say, we rode it around 8 times this weekend. It may not be 'thrilling' but it is a great ride and something my entire family can do. And, how often can you say you've been on a 300ft high swing?
  23. Well, I'm excited about two things...the ride and the season pass price lol...yay!
  24. My friend is there...he said they are chanting "Change the song!"
  25. I now see the Kings Island logo and a floor
