  1. I wanted to take a trip down to KI again and I was debating between August 28th and September 4th. Is it a much, much better idea to go on the 28th of August rather than the following Saturday?
  2. There's an ungoing discussion going on at Pbuzz. Lots of people saw the link on the US patent site, which is now MIA. There are other sites confirming it as well....http://newsplusnotes.blogspot.com/2010/08/all-way-up-into-stratosoar.html EDIT Here is the LINK
  3. Cedar Fair has registered "Stratosoar" with US patents and trademarks. That sounds like a killer name for a huge Star Flyer!
  4. How would that "go after the thrill seeker" and be something the "teen market will really enjoy"?
  5. I have been to CP 9 times this year and went to KI at the beginning of their season to kick off the spring/summer That said, even having been to KI and all the trips to CP, I can't wait to go back to Kings Island. It is nice to switch it up, and as mentioned before, Kings Island has some rides that Cedar Point doesn't. I'm itching to get back to Kings Island more than Cedar Point right now.
  6. top ten? that looks like 8. My top 10 Millennium Dragster Raptor Wicked Twister Maverick Magnum Gemini Disaster Transport Wildcat Blue Streak
  7. Shoot I wish there was a pattern, Cedar Point got 3 amazing coasters in 4 years (including Millennium and Dragster). Now we've got 1 (Maverick) in 7 years and it looks like it's going to be 8 because 2011 is looking like a flat/thrill ride of some sort. If we don't get a coaster in 2011. Are we going to get one in 2012??? I mean StR in 2010 was $11,000,000 and whatever flat is going in in 2011 is probably going to be a big chunk of change. Back to back to back $10M+ rides in this economy seems doubtful.
  8. I have to say, I liked the Crypt so much it's one of the reasons I plan to make a 2nd trip down this year, even thought I'm right next to CP. There are a lot of unique things about KI, Diamonback, Drop Tower, Beast, Invertigo, and a few more, but on the list, at least for me is Crypt. Love it.
  9. I loved the Crypt. It was my first trip to KI in about 10 years, we spent 3 days there and rode Crypt 3 or 4 times. We had no clue what the heck Crypt was, just got on, and we really enjoyed it.
  10. If someone is with me and is getting nervous in the queue, I just encourage them to keep watching the trains come into the station, find the smallest child getting off, and say something like "Look at that 8 year old, they just got done, and they look like they had a blast!"
  11. I agree, it also puts a hole in the theory that Ocean Motion is headed to DD's spot. I guess it could move to DD's spot, stay up for sale for 3-4 years, and either sell or move to a sister park. If it were to sell and ship out by the end of the year, I would really be puzzled as to what is going where Demon was though. The spot has been void all season long, presumably waiting to assist with the 2011 attraction.
  12. I don't disagree that there are elements of Diamondback I like better than Millennium Force. But Diamondback is 1 year old, it's brand new, Millennium is in it's second decade now. That said, I catch lots of air on the first drop, both "bunny" hills and the last hill going by the station. As much as Diamondback? Probably not, but the speed and turns make up for it. I like Diamondback more than Maverick, and Millennium more than Diamondback. Just goes to show everyone is a little different. But calling MForce overrated is silly. If you don't like it, you're in the minority, that doesn't mean the ride is lame.
  13. Dragster - Adrenaline Millennium - Awesome Maverick - Fun That's pretty much how I view them. Dragster is such a rush, waiting in the queue, watching it launch over and over, finally getting in yourself, bracing for the 120 mph "race to the sky" Millennium is pretty much THE coaster. 310 ft., 93 mph, and lets not forget, this is MF's 11th season! When you see a coaster like I305 go up, trying to be a slightly more aggresive MF, and then add a trim, making it more tame than MF, you get a great appreciation for just how awesome millennium is. Maverick is just a fun coaster. No scary heights to worry about. Once you get used to it and anticipate the horseshoe roll, it's a blast to quickly relax through and then...HOLD BACK ON! All and all, Millennium gets my vote. And to whoever said the coasters at CP are overrated...LOL!
  14. Chicago Pizza is great, but you have to get in your car and drive there. Famous Daves is a very short walk from the blue streak entrance. In fact, if you are by Raptor/Blue Streak, Famous Dave's is probably closer then some coasters.
  15. I don't know for sure if this is referring to Ocean Motion at Cedar Point or not, but the pictures look like CP. I wonder if this mean they won't be moving Ocean Motion to Demon Drop's spot. Or, if they'll move it, but keep it for sale for 3 or 4 years until it's sold or moved to a sister park.
  16. Looks like a starflyer (or two or four) is the major front runner. Pretty much fits every clue, all of Dick's and fits perfectly with Tony and Tylers emphasis on "Fun". Funtime makes them.
  17. There are facts on both sides of the argument: Pro-Coaster: Early announcement, "bring back memories", "out on the beach". Anti-Coaster: No footers, "target thrill seekers", "teen market", hard to picture the exact layout of a coaster in the area w/out lots and lots of work I still say with big ole Dick saying it's going to target thrill seekers and be something the teen market will enjoy, that, that is more than likely true, and that's a couple major points against it being a coaster.
  18. Dick Kinzel has also stated that the new ride will target the "thrill seeker". If that doesn't throw a big wrench at the coaster hopefuls, he followed through a couple weeks later by saying it will be "something I feel the teen market will really enjoy". I don't think CP would market a coaster as for the "teen" market. If you ask me, Dick is trying to deflate the coaster hype so people aren't disappointed when a thrill ride like a true flat or something like a slingshot/vertigo is announced.
  19. @chaddie, thanks for the tip! Here it is embedded...
  20. Does anyone know how to imbed the picture and video? I'm such a newb...
  21. Well I gave the rope ladder a try, tried to follow the rule of opposite pressure using left leg/right arm etc... I didn't video tape it, but this picture pretty much sums up how it went both times http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac273/kyle2154/CP6-18-2010083.jpg I was able to dominate bank a ball again though. I got a much shorter video in much better quality...
  22. ^ I think it's called wacky wire. That game looks soooo tough. I would say that is the game that requires the most "skill". The end always seems to be the hardest part for people.
  23. I'm going to give the rope climb a try. All of the advice is pretty much the same, even pressure on both sides, move quickly. I'm not going back to CP for a couple weeks, but when I do I'll try, if I'm able to win I'll update with another video
  24. Interesting, I didn't try it when I was down there. To be honest, I was worried about stuffing an already jam packed car with a big stuffed animal (we had to pack for the 3 day trip to KI). At CP they make sure your elbow stays behind the edge of the counter. I've never won without my elbow on the counter and being able to work from a low angle. So if my hand has to be on the counter it would be worlds different... That ladder game looks soooo hard. It is such a crowd/ego pleaser though. Makes sense, stay wide, even pressure on both sides, even movement, but probably sooo much harder than it looks. I really want to try it.
  25. I was just wondering if anyone out there is really good at any of the carnival games at the parks. I was wondering about the rope chain one where you try to climb up the rope without falling, what's the trick??? I'm pretty solid at Bank a Ball (rebound). I can put it in about 50% of the time. My house is littered with stuffed animals from it. Here's a video I just put up. (puppy head bunt at the end is the best part )Any other ringers out there?
