Idea for a TV or full feature PKI movie
Actually, it was Jan, who buys a Yogi Bear poster for a kid she babysits for, and loses the cylinder (after mixing it up with Mike's sketches) in a canoe at Swanee Landing. Also interesting, while Coney Island and Rivertown were both featured prominently, Oktoberfest and Hanna Barbera Land are both almost completely ignored.

Son of Beast needs work BADDD!
Of the two times I've ridden SOB, I was signifigantly bruised on it the second time, and I have sworn that I will not ride it again until there are real changes. I understand that some like the ride rough, but since it's such a signature ride now, couldn't they stand to make it just a touch less painful? The purpose of riding a roller coaster is, as someone here said, AMUSEMENT. I am not amused when it hurts to walk or sit following a ride.

a new idea
That sounds great! I would DEFINITELY go to such a page.

What do you miss most from PKI's past?
The French Bakery was great. I really miss, as far as food is concerned, at PKI is the candy apples (the red, candied kind, not the caramel kind). I haven't been able to find them in the park for a while, they used to have them in the candy store across from Tomb Raider in Rivertownb, but I don't know what happened to them. Or are they somewhere else in the park now, and I just missed them?

My opinion of best ride at PKI
I KNEW Top Gun used to be another color, but I couldn't remember which! Thanks for reminding me!

What do you miss most from PKI's past?
I miss Skylab, and KCKC the most. I never liked riding King Cobra much while we had it, but I think it looked a lot better on the midway than Delirium. I only hope that someday, they don't do the same with Vortex, but you never know-I honestly thought I wouldn't live to see the day that King Cobra and KCKC weren't at the park anymore.

My opinion of best ride at PKI
Wasn't the bobsled ride removed to build King Cobra?

Stupid Question
I remember being sooo excited when I found that KMLF had reopened (since it had been boarded up, closed for what seemed to be a long time), since I love log flume rides, and I believe that was shortly after KCKC closed. I didn't hear about KMLF reopening on TV, I was just wandering around the park that spring, and there it was. Seeing Runaway Reptar in that area was also a surprise, I had heard nothing about it at that point (and I didn't ride it until two years later).

PKI History
Wasn't that 1991, the same day the lady on Flight Commander died?

Death at PKI
I also feel for the family, though I do hope that this does not lead to a frivolous lawsuit, like the one concerning the lightning storm.

Weird Al
I especially liked all the video clips between songs. My favorite was the one from King of the Hill. Bobby: It was a song parody, just like Weird Al Yankovich! Hank: Bobby, Weird Al Yankovich blew his brains out in the late 80's when people stopped buying his records!

SOB fixed
My first ride on Son of Beast was in July, 2000, and it was rather smooth then. My second and last ride was in April, 2003, and it was PAINFUL....my legs just banging back and forth between those two bars, I was crying, and begging for someone to stop the ride. I had bruises for days. I will not ride that coaster again until they fix the restraints-no matter how much you work on a woodie, it will still be jarring like this, simply said, restraints of that design, and a car of that design do not belong on wooden coasters.

Sections
Which is your favorite section of the park? Coney Mall, Action Zone, Oktoberfest, Rivertown, Waterworks, or (long shot) Nickelodeon Central, or Hanna Barbera Land? I'm not talking about as far as rides, etc are concerned...I'm talking about atmosphere, i.e. which is your favorite part of the park to walk around in, get some air, etc. Personally, my favorite is Rivertown...the atmosphere, for some reason, is just my cup of tea (though it was much better before they removed KCKC-Tomb Raider just doesn't match the rest of the area).

Top Gun
Of all the rides at the park, it seems to me like Top Gun is the one that has the most problems. There have been no less than three times when I've been in line for it when the ride closes for one reason or another...that's not happened before to me on *any* other ride.

Top 5 Thrills at Kings Island?
1. Vortex (Speechless since my first ride in '97) 2. Forward Racer (it's more fun if you actually see it!) 3. Beast (great ride, I wish people here would stop *****ing about the breaks, and whatnot) 4. Top Gun (ride's too short, but still...that's some drop!) 5. Congo Falls (I've never felt such airtime on a water coaster before)

Ride Replacement
Good lord, SOB is a *painful* waste of space. It looks flat out ugly, too. The Beast is nice because it's in the middle of a forest, and not in the middle of everything for all to see.
-
Ride Replacement
Son of Beast is just such a tragic waste of space...if they could put King Cobra back on that spot, that would rule.

Flight Commander line que
Did the que entry come right at the front?

Flight Commander line que
Someone mentioned on an old post about how the line que for Flight Commander was underground, and that one had to go up a spiral staircase. Could someone elaborate a little more on the details of this (what the underground area looked like, where it was, how one could access it from the midway, etc). Is there some sign of it still existing that I could look for today?
-
Top Gun Replaced
Oh, I hope so....I won't miss that thing.
-
WWC or CF
I'd say WWC if the line wasn't eternal every time the weather's right for it. So, I'll say CF, even though I prefer the WTRA over it, mainly because there's more than just the single drop in it.

Next to Flying Dutchman, where Skylab was...
Couldn't have been...it was running, besides, Bavarian Beetle was in another section of the park. I found out not long after my last post that it was the Tumble Bug I was asking about.

Next to Flying Dutchman, where Skylab was...
At first, I thought that too, but I know what the Bavarian Beetle looked like-nothing like this. Besides, that opened a year after this episode was shot.
