Ed Alonzo’s Psycho Circus- Magic and Mayhem

Hi Medford. Ed Alonzo uses children volunteers about his age for one of his acts. It's funny, it's spontaneous and children & adults alike just love him. It has dancing, fire and live animals. So, there is something for everyage. And, YES....it's easy to get up and leave the auditorium without heckle. That has been a question in the past. Ed is too busy to stop the show just to ask "where ya goin?". Everybody knows that if you have a small child who's not cooperating or is need of the bathroom, everyone will appreciate you more for tending to your childs' need as not to disrupt the show. Overall....Have a great time! Sit back, relax and have a laugh or two or twenty. It's well worth it!!! -

I have actually heard of someone complaining about the ice skaters when they would use their skates to spray ice into the audience off the stage into the front few rows. It's a classic gag. Same as the clown and the squirting flower. -
What has happened to our beloved Floral Clock?
KingsIsland1972 replied to KingsIsland1972's topic in Kings Island
Funny thing is....Since coming this year to Ki, I've logged in I think 6 Visits, and not once have I seen the Starlight Spectacular because I'm always in line getting my Night Ride on The Beast On to close out the park. So, my concern is that when walking back through the park to the front gate from The Beast, I've noticed that while some music is playing and the Tower is lit up, only a handful of lights are on but what they do have on is pitiful. I know they are directing us to leave and are trying to indicate to the park guests the park is closed. No problem there. But, if anyone has seen the giant stars that are on, half don't work, only an handful of trees are lit, some strands are out, and so forth. It's lost it's original lusture. I have no more desire to skip a Beast Ride just to walk through that area if what they do have on looks like that. IMO. (I'm a hard core xmas light fanatic. I give Chevy Chase a run for his money for lights on the house during the holiday. So, I know how hard it is to keep every light on. But, I think more needs to be done on the upkeep) It would be nice just to have a private lane where people could just walk down with their children and families, get an ice cream or popcorn if they want and look at all the lights rather than behind the tower. -
For many of us...the Kings Island Flora Clock has been a staple in our Lives & Photographs for many many years. It measured the growth of our Children from yearly visits to having a place to meet your party at a specific time. So...why hasn't the park decorated our most favorite clock? I personally agree. If you stand at the point in Coney Mall where you turn to off to go toward FOF/Firehawk, (the spot around the Bell Striker and Guess Your Weight) there is NO HOPE in having a conversation (deafening) until you're past that area or get down to under The Racer Track. It's a HeadAche Zone!!!

Probably a little less than that, so about 4-5 miles total of walking? Wish I would have had a pedometer on, or even my nike+ and Ipod out of interest. Anways, just an example of why walking another 50 yards to non preferred parking isn't going to amount to much at the end of the day. In 2005, I was a Theme Park Officer. I did do a few experiments about how many miles I walked during a day during partrol. Here's what I remember: We had about 7 rotations a shift. That included rope talk at 9-10am, and then every 45minutes we shifted around the park in a counter clockwise manor lets saying you would start in Coney Mall and rotate to Action Zone and so on, and a break for lunch until the 4pm shift came on. On average I walked continually from one side of my area to the other. I remember calculating that if I was to walk the track at a steady pace that I would walk a mile in about twenty minutes. So, double that in 45 minutes I would walk about 2 miles. While patroling, it's a lot slower about half the pace...so I assumed I walked about a mile a rotation x's 7 rotations, I would walk about 7miles a day. (I still have my original holely shoes to prove it) Now, if they needed a volunteer for a double...I would do about 14-15 miles a day in a 14-15hr day. And that's me being Mr Science for the Day.

I agree guy1115! My fiance' and I spent a night together watching old VHS tapes that her father recorded in 1983 before he passed away a few years later and low and behold there was a trip to Kings Island. He was so proud of his new video recorder that he recorder ALL the shows for the day. We are going to get them to digital so we can share these treasures with everyone but I must say that the clothing worn then was much skimpier than today, but that was the style then and it was acceptable. If you go to the water park in Soak City I swear you'll find MUCH MUCH LESS on women and teen girls that I'm sure if you were to ask them to perform on stage in their bikini's everyone would have a MAJOR FIT! The girls' outfits were perfect for the style of magic performed. Everyone needs to honestly think about really what they are complaining about. There are far worse things to worry about than the performers outfits. -

I certainly enjoyed the show...I never laughed so hard at several points in the show. Yes...it will be repetitive for a couple of weeks, but I'm sure he will change it up some as the season comes along to keep it fresh. It's part of his act to have the female dancers because they play such an important roll in his act and the park knew of this coming into it. Their outfits are just costumes. Very professional imo. I am so very very tired of first off: everybody whining that the park gets nothing new. Second: When we do get something new...everybody whines and finds something to nic/pic about that and still nobody is happy. Make up your minds people....Please. I've performed and created several magic shows for Church's and TV. The Festhaus is definately not suited for the kind of Magic that Ed Alonzo performs as it requires the audience to be seated at all times. BTW...If you've ever watched the British Invasion Show...it's very annoying having guest come in from outside or from the food line, stand there in front of the Performers&Audience looking around as if nothing is going on looking for a place to sit. It just interferes with the theatrics. It almost reminds me of sitting in a movie theatre and you constantly have someone always getting in & out their seats in front of you. -
This was just posted in another thread on KIC, but I will post it here for you Westcoaster. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/sandusky/news/cedar-fair/memo-cedar-point-build-coaster-2013

Have you leveled-up in the Fun Perks Yet?
KingsIsland1972 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Just checked my FunPerks account and KI has credited ALL 5 VISITS I've made so far this year as of Today! Now my only question is: Is it like Speedy Points? If I choose to get a free popcorn, or ride....does my points reset and I start all over and has anyone used their free level one coupon and acheived level two coupons? I have six registered in our family, but I'm the only one who seems to be getting these reward offers. Cindy, my finace' who has five visits also...DOES NOT have any rewards at all. -
Why can't you all just appreciate what KI and Cedar Fair has done for us already this year for the 40th Anniversary and years past building up KI to this point? Don't you think that they are aware of the Big Elephant in the Middle of the Theme Park? I truly believe they have great plans to either use this space wisely or refurbish the SOB in due time. Even in Que Lines this past weekend I heard people's whopper of a story about the poor Coaster and it's FATE and believe you/me....people's imaginations aren't that far off from what I'm reading here. Yes...I miss the SOB like everyone else. It had it's ups and downs and good and the ugly...but there is NOTHING we can do about it. You're beating a dead horse! Let's just all get along and quit worrying about what we can't change. Let's focus on the good that Cedar Fair is doing with our Sister Park up North. Maybe we'll be next with good news in the weeks to come.

My Fiance' and I rode The Beast second car, back seat from the rear of the train last night. Normally because my girl had been afraid of Rollercoasters before meeting me, we are slowly working of the courage to get to the front row. We always ride middle on everything. Since The Beast has been refurbished, it rides like a dream. Now, when I rode last night, we were given double rides as we were the 2nd to last train out of the station. (i don't know if it has to do with recycling the order of the trains, but who's complaining...RIGHT? LOL ) Anywho...the first ride was really really bumpy and then when they sent us out again...of course I was for it, but thought, here comes the headache. We rode again, same car, same people in the same position and HAD THE SMOOTHEST TIME AND RIDE OF OUR LIVES!!!! Two DIFFERENT RIDES!!! So, I don't know how to answer the question. We also rode during the HOT AFTERNOON on The Beast. It was in the middle and it was the bumpiest ride ever as well. Doest it have something to do with the expansion of the track and the wood and the night time returning it back to normal???

I've already posted about not getting the funperks posted to my account on Saturday and problems that not all venues are offering to swipe our cards. Went to GR and filled out a report. Still haven't been called or emailed about my problem as of Today. I'm concerned why they would do a Soft Launch of the FUNPerks program if it wasn't fully operational. Yes...I should be appreciative of having the rewards, but it's like Christmas with 7 other Brothers and Sisters...If someone in the park got all their rewards and another person didn't and they both spent the same time and amount, I think that somebody needs to go around and make it right with the others so there is no sibling fighing about who got what (sibling being Gold Pass Members). I plan on hitting the park plenty this year with my New Family and I want to do everything I can to earn the Behind The Beast Tour or a VIP for Fireworks. That would top our family list. Having Gold Passes IS "OUR" vacation and this is all we have for this year. Things are tight, so I feel we should get what's been advertised. Still Love my KI! -

A: YES! I bought one today and it's Perfect!! Like, I rode the Flight Deck, and when we got into Coney Mall, I stopped at Skyline and got a drink. I then rode FOF, came out and then went to the Diner and got another one. I think I had 6 drinks today. I love this option!!! I never went thirsty!!! -

After all these years, we decided before we left the house that we were going to try the Back Yard BBQ. Good Choice....BUT, the girl told us when we bought our tickets at the picnic gate that the FUN PERKS are good everywhere else but the BYBBQ. I paid with credit card x4 and asked for our receipt because I felt she was wrong but still smiled. After our Beast at Night Ride, we went to GUEST SERVICES where the nice gentleman said no, no, no, no, no. You should have gotten a swipe but it has to be done at the POP (Point of Purchase) and they (GC) can't add that on to our account at GUEST SERVICES level. But...he continued, if we'd fill out a Guest Complaint about it, he'd forward it on to Upper MGNT along with a copy of our Gold Pass Number and receipt. So, I will update how they resolved this, if they do and just to say that this isn't the first time we've been denied a swipe for our card within the park. I'm tired of having to explain the program to park employees. I think they need to re-inform employees on this and also ask at the POP for your gold card as that will also help make guests feel important for having one or if they don't, you have an opportunity to make a presentation to purchase one. -
I have a quick question....what should we do as marathon riders to prepare ourselves for the day other than stretch out a few days before and drink plenty of fluids for dehydration. Like, in my mind, I'm thinking my hat, a fanny pack filled with suntan lotion, my Zune player and Asprin. Will we be riding one train together back to back, or do we get out each and every ride. Will there be drinks provided like water or snacks? Is Lunch provided or do we break off for lunch and come back within a certain time. First time rider here who is sooooo excited to be part of the team. I will also be signing up my 15yr old son this weekend so we can do this together. I'm going to focus now on my donations, but this is worth every ounce of energy to help these children and their families! Thanks to whoever can help me answer my question. ~Brian

I wasn't happy being hounded outside the gates by several gentlemen "both coming and going to and from the park" to scribble my 411 so that I can be telemarketed later just to win cash or a car. I said no and meant no but that didn't seem to get the point across...then the one guy turned to my fiance' and shoved a book and pen in her face as we were briskly trying to leave. Did Eco get new uniforms? I thought I saw a girl sweeping in a yellow jumper like an Oompa Loompa. I also thought that if the employees at the JUKE BOX DINER have to wear 50's atire that at least they should play music to go with the theming. I heard what sounded like 80's music. Overall...the park had a different feel to it.....for the better!!!

A Storm front from Terre Haute, IN to Kalamazoo, MI has now just crossed over Indianapolis and is now heading into Ohio via weather.com. As of 935am, the first batch of rain is on the Ohio boarder and could reach the park by 11am and the line of storms should reach Mason by Noon or thereafter. Still not sure about coming. Anyone froze yet??? www.weather.com -

As for me and my fiance', we wouldn't think of missing KI's 40th Anniversary Grand Opening. As for staying all day, I've worked the park on days like Saturday and it WILL BE COLD and miserable if you're wet in any way and there is a breeze. I suggest that you all bring an extra set of dry clothes and an extra hoodie if you dare to stay til close but definately bring an extra pair of socks and walking shoes. I'm staying to about 2pm (so I can get my "rides on" because my fiance' doesn't do coasters) and then we're compromising by making it date night and will be heading for an overnight stay to the Casinos in Indiana as she is entered to WIN a new car, so we have to be there in person should she win. I'm playing a little Roulette and Table Poker. I'm feelin' Lucky! But before we go...we agreed to try some of the new food that's available in the park even though it will be hard passing up LaRosa's Pizza in Rivertown. See you Saturday in the Gold Line somewhere...still haven't decided on what to ride first. She said she'll ride FOF if it's open, so that will be where I'll be. -

On Opening day...do they give out free things for the first 'X' amount of park guests for gold members? I thought they gave away laynards or drink refill bottles before. Just Asking. That might entice me to come. -
My Goals for KI 2012: 1) Take at least 1000 photographs to play with in the off season on Photoshop 2) Encourage my fiance' that rides without over the shoulder harnesses are just as safe. (she won't ride The Beast) 3) Learn how to swim to enjoy the new Soak City with my new family. 4) And watch all the shows in the park at least once and try potatoe works....Never had it.
