  1. 6 sold at $6.85. Someone is making a heck of a ROI on those.
  2. Hopefully the ride ops on Banshee will figure out the row 4 thing. On opening day the gentleman riding next to my wife was SO close to not getting fastened in. He asked the ride op if there was a larger seat and was tole they were all the same.
  3. Dropkick Murphys Shipping Off to Boston for queue music. Love it!
  4. PS, anyone sees a guy in a black t shirt that says Indy Race Parts in green that's me. Would like to meet a few folks today and put faces with names.
  5. Whatever it is the mechanics are focusing on the brakes entering the station. Cycling empty again ATM.
  6. Oh to have a job which does not require I keep that dreaded phone with me even while at the park (and on vacation, while sleeping and every other moment I'm "off"). For those of you who can leave the phone in the car, count your blessings. There may come a day when your professional life requires you be at the disposal of your employees nearly 24/7. Some of us who can be seen talking on the phone or with our "nose buried in it" are to be pitied, not abhorred.
  7. I don't know if it really classifies as "cute" but.. My wife and I spend the weekend closest to Halloween at KI every year. We were married on Halloween so it is our annual anniversary mini-vacation. Fog, monsters and holding hands during a crisp fall night ride on The Beast..does it get any more romantic than that?
  8. I'm hoping this nostalgia trend works it's way north over the next couple of years. I have a strong hunch that it will but you can't be certain.
  9. Rodger was a very nice man. I've been fortunate to meet many drivers. When I worked at Thom McAn, I waited on Rick Mears. He was very unassuming and pretty low key. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I need to spring for badges one of these days. I've been attending every year since 1990 at this point and have never been in the pits during the month of May. Past few years I have had a race the Friday and Saturday before the 500 so I haven't even been able to camp. I may have a ride lined up for the Hoosier Hundred at the fairgrounds next year so camping may be back on the radar. I am right there with you on the reverance of the place. There is nowhere like it in the world (although Eldora comes close). I still get goosebumps and a little misty eyed every time Mr. Neighbors graces us with Back Home Again in Indiana. The 2005 race was even my wife and I's first official date and the first live race of any kind she attended. There have been a lot of changes over the years and not all good but it is and will always be The Greatest Spectacle in Racing and a place that has shaped my life. OK, small world stuff continues. Your cousin wasn't Ray by any chance was he? Sounds like maybe we need a KIC IMS get together
  10. My wife and I did the platinum thing for 2013 ad it was great. Made my first trip to CP since 2000 and my wife's first trip since shortly after. Truth be told, we ended up spending more time there this year then we did at KI. While it will never replace my beloved home park, I can see why people fall in love with The Point. Carowinds is definitely worth the drive too. My wife ended up being sent to Charlotte for a week long work training so I took some time off and we hit Carowinds over haunt. In my opinion it's not as great as KI or CP but is a quaint little park that is well worth the drive. Make good use of the Platinum! Even seeing only 3 CF parks it is amazing totally different experience each park is. Also have to ask since you are an Indiana guy..what track do you visit in the month of May. I have a guess but could be wrong..
  11. This article gives me a good deal of hope for the future of KI and the other CF parks. Plus it was cool to see a picture of my friend Megan looking all official with her division of the park in the article . While I love me some big 'ol coasters I appreciate the "whole package" in a park and am a huge dark ride junkie. To me Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was as much fun as my first ride on Gatekeeper, Intimidator or Maverick this year, just a different kind of fun. I'm hoping that next years install at Canada's Wonderland will start a resurgance of the dark ride chain wide and new flats. Cedar Fair has already proven that coasters will still be on the menu and I doubt that will change. The only thing I wasn't super thrilled with was the statement that they are not a "theming" company. Theming is another thing that makes the park for me.
  12. Chances are quite good my wife and I will be there opening day barring other conflict.
  13. never mind, covered elsewhere
  14. Wouldn't miss the Eagles for certain. Thats one of the things I am most excited about honestly. So many childhood memories...
  15. Thanks for the input. Guess I should have been a bit more thorough in my question though. What are the must hit rides to go along with the must hit haunts?
  16. My wife just found out she is going to be attending a work training in Charlotte the 14th-18th. If I can get off work I plan to go down with her and would like to hit Carowinds while we are down there. Hoping some of you fine folks can give me a bit of insight into the "must do" attractions for Scarowinds in case we only have limited time in the park. Figure the scariest part will be waiting to see if our platinum passes go all "Terpy" when we try to get in. Any insight is much appreciated!
  17. I find this concept very intriguing. Talk about adding a generally unexplored psychological aspect to a haunted house! In a perfect wold this would be an outstanding experience for those interested in doing it, however I believe the unique set of moral standards needed on the part of the performers and participants are not ubiquitous enough to make this successful in a less than highly controlled and small scale environment the likes of which this company can most likely not provide. Certainly not for everyone in any case though.
  18. I'm fairly certain that is considered blasphemy of the highest order on this site!
  19. Glad I'm not the only one. I actually found the vests to be more comfortable than the majority of OSR's that do not use them.
  20. "It has long been recognized that the problems with alcohol relate not to the use of a bad thing, but to the abuse of a good thing." A. Lincoln In a perfect world all people would use alcohol responsibly. Why should I be denied the pleasures of an adult beverage due to other's inability to act in a responsible manner? I frequently enjoy a bevarage or two at the park, occasionally to the point of a pleasant "buzz", however I show self control and stop before the effects are to the point that I pose a danger to myself or others. In fact I stop before the effects are outwardly visible. If you met me at the park the only way you would ever know that I had touhed a drop of alcohol was if you saw it in my hands. On the occasions I do so I either do not drive home or if I must I put down the cup early enough and stay late enough that the alcohol is out of my system before I make it to the parking lot. Even when I choose to be "irresponsibe" with alcohol (never at the park) I do so in a responsible manner, ensuring that myself and any others with me will not be driving, etc. Why should my liberties be impinged because of the actions of a few? Keep in mind that all listed examples of individuals misusing\abusing alcohol, grills, etc. above are a visible yet overwelming MINORITY. What percentage of guests every day at the park have at least one alcoholic drink? Now, what percentage of those cause any kind of problem whatsoever? I assure you the problems represent a fraction of a percent. If we were to ban all those things that can cause others harm when used in an irresponsible manner we wouldn't have ANYTHING left in the world. Even water can be toxic in large enough ammounts, pencils can stab, rocks can injure. Every day we are faced with individuals doing things that we do not agree with and that will never go away, if it doesn't affect you, move on. This is why in order to function in the world we all need to learn tollerance. Keep in mind by the very nature of the word we are not implying we LIKE everything others do, we learn to TOLLERATE it. I know this little soapbox rant is somewhat OT but having read through some replies advocating the overal elinination of alcohol from the park (and in one instance from overall existance) I felt compelled to speak my little piece. While everyone it entiled their opinion, I feel that it is a slippery slope when we advocate banning things simply because a visible minority are irresponsible. Consequences for the viloators, not for all.
  21. I guess I am just lucky when it comes to debit cards and not overspending. When I add money to my checking account I look at the ballance, know how much I have to spend and keep track of it in my head until next payday. Every 4 or 5 days I check online to make sure my mental accounting is correct and it usually is within $5 or less. Haven't overdrawn my account in over 6 years since I became a "financially responsible adult" using this system. Same goes with budget when I go places. If I put $100 on a wrist band for the day I'm pretty sure I could keep track of spending in my head with no problem.
  22. Not in a week or so. Perfer the 35mpg of the Honda over the 18MPG of the 1 ton dually
  23. I personally can't wait for this technology to hit the park. The fewer things I have to take inside the happier I will be. Even with button pockets I am still constantly paranoid I will lose my wallet. If all I have to take into the park is my pass, ID and wrist band I will be a happy camper. If I take my truck to the park I don't even take the key in. I hide it, lock the truck and use the keypad to get back in. As for the spending more than you want in the park, just use your head and think before you buy. Leave the wallet in the car and you will have to think long and hard before you pony up more cash to reload the band on that long walk...
  24. I know this flies in the face of the mostly "giant roller coaster" crowd but I am hoping for a killer dark ride. Maybe a dark\coaster hybrid... Here's to hoping.
