I hate to burst your bubble, but I think they're just removing the footers to remove them. I doubt they have anything planned for that site yet since the removal was so sudden. Plus they just spent $30M on Orion.

While I agree with your point about the demolition being so sudden, I respectively disagree that they don't have something planned in that area. I feel like they're next roller coaster is still in the planning and they know who they want to go with as far as next roller coaster manufacturer. Tearing out the footers now gives them the time to plan out the layout for their next roller coaster. I believe we'll see a ground up rmc in the former spot of Vortex. Just my opinion there. I also believe we won't see that new roller coaster until 2022-2023, due to the pandemic we're all in right now.

    Do you remember this poster?spacer.png

When this poster appeared at Kings Island, fans were starting thinking that Kings Island was going to build an R.M.C Son of Beast for the 2019 season. That however, didn't happen. But, maybe that wasn't for 2019. Maybe it's for sometime way into the future. In 2019, Kings Island announced that they would be removing The Vortex. Now fans are wondering when and what will replace it. I think it could be a ground-up r.m.c. I don't have a picture of what it could look like, but I have an idea for a ground-up r.m.c called GHOST MOUNTAIN!

I know the last two posters yesterday probably rolled their eyes at this, but I like this idea! I don't know If they would have to go out and remove Backlot Stunt Coaster, but I imagine they could still get creative. They're already removing footers in The Vortex site so I imagine they'll level the land in the off-season and maybe start building next season. This way we could start guessing like we did last year for Orion. I believe we'll see something new there in 2022-2023.

  3. Anyone remember how Adventure Express used to have the fog, special lights along the course, and sound effects? I remember riding Adventure Express as a kid and having those features really made Adventure Express really fun! I love how they kept the theme going in the last tunnel. It's not a let down to me at all. As a kid when you're riding it, you're scared. When you're an adult, I can see where some people feel that last tunnel is a let down. It still doesn't bother me any.

Another thing I wonder. If you are required to wear them on rides, will they enforce it the way they enforce the phone thing where if they catch someone taking it off while on the lift, they stop the ride.

I feel like they would stop the ride more for a phone than a mask, but that's just my opinion. Once the train crests over the top, and somebody lowers their mask they can't do much.

I think it'd be great if the park brought back souvenir maps for the 50th anniversary.

I said this in another topic, but it would be nice if they had the giant park maps like what Cedar Point sells for $2.00. I hope the GM of Kings Island reads this or these forums for ideas. :)

  6. I had a dream a few times where Kings Island was open to the public, but people we're in awe when they saw how big of trench there was for the former Vortex site. The whole area must have been dug up at least 10 feet below the coney mall midway area. There was also a sign showing how they wanted to rebuild Vortex in a new way. Different manufacturer of course; and I believe it was a ground up rmc like everyone wants.

Man that’s gonna suck if they go out of business after just opening...

Who? Cedar Fair? I doubt they'll go out of business. I've heard worst case scenario, Cedar Fair will just make a lot of budget cuts like they did this year for next year as well. We might just have a year one year where the parks just say nothing is coming, but enjoy your day here.

  8. Well if they ever wanted to replace Vortex in a similar way that it was designed or layed out, a B&M floorless is the answer. Now Kings Island is more of a family park compared to Cedar Point. I'm happy Orion was installed, but I imagine they're going to build something the whole family will enjoy. If they decide to build an RMC ground up, they could make that less intense than Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point, so the whole family will enjoy it. I just want them to throw a loop in there to pay tribute to Vortex. If they go with a B&M floorless, they have a better chance of going back to back with the loops to give it that look that area of the park just lost.

  9. I respect you guys opinion here guys, but I think a Floorless roller coaster similar to Dominator at Kings Dominion would be ideal for families and thrill seekers. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a ground up rmc come to Kings Island as well. I also think that would be the most thrilling option for Kings Island. However, If they wanted to introduce a roller coaster family oriented, it would probably be a B&M Floorless. Here's how I see my wishlist for the former Vortex area. 1. B&M Floorless 2. Ground up rmc wooden roller coaster 3. Mack launch roller coaster. The other roller coasters that have been mentioned, I don't know too much about.
