I'm thinking Don read this post and is toying with us with his tweet about The Bat. But I never mentioned The Bat. Don's tweet could just be a Kings Island history flashback. Yeah I don't think his tweet has anything to do with 2014. Just a possibility he read that and is having some fun. More than likely you're right though. Here's something I found I thought was interesting: [Originally posted by Vortexfan May 28, 2012] Sorry I'm on a tablet and this is the best I could quote it. " Leviamania was definitely a huge success. Thanks to everyone that attended. It was a bit hard to hear at times, so I wanted to share this tidbit of information from the Q&A (Norm, Park GM): Canada's Wonderland was meant to get a B&M inverted intead of the Vekoma SLC model! The deal was ready to be signed HOWEVER, Cedar Point had an exlusivity deal that B&M could not build another invert with 200 miles (as the crow flies) of the park. Canada's Wonderland is at the 198 mile mark. Cedar Point refused to let Wonderland build what could have been an AMAZING invert. So we got what we did." The term "as the crow flies". We have scarecrows on the footers and the owls are actually scarecrows. Do a google search for owl and scarecrow and those exact plastic owls come up. The crow does not fly in that area ie a B&M invert may be built there. Just wanted to throw that out there in case those really are the clues. I know I know I'm overthinking it. But hey isn't this what the Decode 2014 thread is for. But KI isn't more than 200 miles away from CP either... I'm 99% sure that exclusive deal on B&M Inverts is looooong gone and dead by now. Hey, I just noticed something... 2009 Magnum XL-200, Cedar Point's Hypercoaster, turns 20. Kings Island gets a Hypercoaster, Diamondback. 2014 Raptor, Cedar Point's Full Circuit Inverted Coaster, turns 20. Kings Island gets ??? (signs pointing to invert right now...) Hmm... Looks like a giga will be installed in 2020

If it is going to be invert, then why not build a winged coaster... it is just the evolution of the invert and IMO much better. Hypers and Gigas are not gimmicks because they are labeled those because of stats not the type of train or track. Inverting the track was thought of to visually amaze people and make it look better than what it is. To me that is a gimmick. If the Invert is to be 250 feet plus and 85-90mph then that would be evolution of the invert, but I am afraid it will not be and have to rely on the gimmick factor that IMO is very outdated.
-
A giga is nothing like a hyper IMO... Gigas are on another level with their speed..DB and a giga could coexist very well because one was made for air time and the other would be made for speed, an invert on the other hand can only be ridden once or twice in a day before the average person will have a severe headache, KI already has an invert within a rock throw of this new coaster so IMO that does not make sense

I just can't believe Cedar Fair would waste this much money on a coaster using 20 year old technology. If it is an invert, they should have just re-located something or bought some used invert because they are all the same. I guess Kings Island will remain the family destination and Cedar will still be for the big boys. Installing an invert is almost laughable, it belongs somewhere like KK. Looks like I will have to wait until 2020 for the giga, since they are 20 years behind CP.....smh

Because it's overrated. I rarely ride Raptor... it is terrible and just gives out headaches, give me MF, Mag, Mave, TTD, WT, and GK before i would think about riding Raptor
-
Inverts are a gimmick and a thing of the past... it needs to be a giga. Nothing compares to speed and height to wow people.
-
Millennium is superior to DB in every facet... Feels like you are barely moving on DB when comparing DB to MF.... that 13 MPH and 70 ft make a big difference
-
I did the math a while back, this is going to put the lift hill at around 150 foot. That falls into the range typically seen on inverts. I'm torn between an invert and giga. I'd rather see a giga, but an invert would be so nice. At this point, based on the dual footers, I think giga is out. The dual footers are only seen on the inverts and flyers. For it to be anything else, they would have to be using a completely new way of supporting the track. not that many dual footers

I'm a huge intamin fan, and they destroy B&M, but there is a 0% chance this is anything but a B&M coaster.
-
That's true, but consider that when it comes out of the helix, the supports become single and directly below the track, to support the downward weight of the coaster. Now look at this image of where the footers that can be seen are set up. On an invert there are many more supports...two to one over an above track coaster. Half of the purple circles don't have a footer there... I was looking at Diamondback on thursday and it has parallel footers all over the place, I don't think the footers point to a clear answer yet
-
I am just saying that based on CF's pattern since they started installing hypers in 08. CP has a giga, KD giga, CW giga, KI's turn next year would make sense. Just looking at the amount of land that is clear, the ride it is replacing, and the natural progression of things makes me believe that it will be a giga and not a dated invert.
-
When you say ride quality are you talking about ride reliability or ride experience? When it comes to reliability it seem everyone I have talk to in the industry agrees that goes to B&M. I agree that Intamin does take risks to get a new ride experience, but I am personally not been all that impressed with the Intamin coasters I have ridden. Intamin blows away B&M

Looks more like a troll. I guess troll = someone that objects popular opinion(which is usually not right or not good)
-
here is the leviathan layout, there are several parallel footers
-
what paired footers, there aren't that many, the real action is going to take place where all the land is cleared, if it is anything but a giga, i'll be suprised
-
Looks like a giga

Mr. negativity strikes again. Sorry for being honest! You have to admit that if this is not a record breaker you will be disappointed. I think what Young Stud is trying to say is that there are some people who won't be happy if it turns out this coaster isn't a record breaker. I happen to agree with him this time. A lot of people want a giga coaster. If it's not a giga, they'll be disappointed. Other people want an invert. It's it's not a record-breaking invert, they'll be disappointed. Some people want a ride like Verbolten. If we don't get that, they'll be upset. It's true. But Young Stud is not saying it must be a record breaker in order for him to be happy. Whether you think the guy's a troll or not, at least be honest and don't twist his words. I feel like SNL based their Debby Downer skit off of you. Im not trying to be rude but your not making much sense. If you don't like this thread, then you can just not click on it. Im sure everybody wants you to enjoy this site, but if you don't like this thread then don't click on it! You've obviously misunderstood my point. I'm not trying to rain on everyone's "Let's guess the coaster" party. I myself have played the guessing game in this thread. My comments were directed toward those who don't understand why KI can't announce the ride now. Don has already said it will be a while before an announcement is made, and it reminded me of a time in my childhood when I would always want to know things "now now now". I tried posting that little bit from my past as a way of helping people understand that if you simply stop focusing on it, and take your mind off of it, then it won't be long before the moment arrives. Terp liked what I said...which means he understood the point I was making. That's good enough for me. You, on the other hand, are free to put me on your "Ignore" list if my posts bother you. Inverts were meant for the 90s...? Is that why they've built incredible inverts like OzIris, Black Mamba, and Patriot since 2006? If we use your logic to determine what a park should build, then technically we never should have gotten Diamondback...because, after all, hypers were so 90s. In fact, the first one was built in 1989. It took KI 20 years to get a steel hyper. If you have been on one invert u have been on them all, since Kings Island didn't have a hyper it made sense, the perfect park would be full of hypers, gigas, maverick clones, a TTD like coaster, and anything else that is fast and tall, the only good thing about gimmick type coasters is that it draws the idiots away from the good coasters
-
I sure hope it is not a junk invert like that drawing, that would draw no one to the park, inverts were meant for the 90's, Raptor sucks, all coasters from here on out need to be either launched/300+/90+mph with no inversions or they will just be another coaster, Intamin blows away B&M and it is not even close, nothing will top MF until Intamin builds a 350+, 100+mph coaster.
-
There is no comparison between a giga like MF and any invert. I want bugs splattered on my face not headaches.
-
An invert would be a waste of steel
-
Seriously? Go back to your bridge! I just don't understand why on every forum I read when someone has an unpopular and radical opinion, there is someone that has to act like you are nuts. I would love a park full of 200-400 ft. tall coasters that go 80-120 mph over a park with 1 such coaster and a bunch of coasters that are slow and give you headaches(inversions).
-
Exactly
-
I'll admit Maverick does not fall into the tall category but it is launched. I should have mentioned being launched to reach faster speeds is not a gimmick, it is raw power.
-
Well, everyone's entitled to their opinions....though yours is actually a relative statement. Do you have facts to prove that a coaster is better simply because it goes faster? Ah...I see. That explains why there are so many coasters with "gimmicks" that have been built, and which are still being built. Because the general population like things that aren't good.
-
The best coasters I have ever been on are the fastest and the tallest. The faster something goes the better and thats hard to argue. To reach higher speeds you have to have more height. They kind of go hand in hand with coasters. Inversions/standing/laying/wings are all visual gimmicks to impress the casual person but really just slow you down and give you a headache. I just hope that it is not something with a gimmick and it is something that is jaw dropping like a Giga.
