JUNE 11 2014 THE OTHER D R O P T O W E R REPORT SO... Me and my friends Ethan, Kadin and Josh got to Kings Island at 10:00, and headed for Action Zone. There were almost 0 people there. We headed for Banshee, but it was closed due to heavy rain. (It was raining a lot) So we rode Delirium. Delirium was fun. It was deliriously fun. It was Delirium. Then, Ethan, Kadin, and Josh headed for Drop Tower. At this point in time, i had only been on Drop Tower once, and it was the worst thing i had ever been on. But i had agreed to ride it, or give everyone free sodas all day. So, they rode it a few times, and then... I got on. I had a freak out at the top. And then suddenly, it------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ uhhhhhhh wow it dropped. Then after that i rode: Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Boo Blasters on Boo Hill Diamondback White Water Canyon Diamondback Beast Racer Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Drop Tower Guess what my new favorite ride is?

Drop Tower. There has never been a more awesome/terrifying 2 minutes in my life.

I'm not sure which part they replaced. The word on the street was that it was part of the motor, but it's also apparent that the cables were installed yesterday too. Regardless, I'm sure that they either used Intamin parts, or parts that Intamin recommended. You have to remember that there are dozens, if not hundreds, of parts to each ride that were not manufactured by the ride maker. They replaced the cables. I have a picture of it with cables on one side and no cables on the other. You can kinda see it in my video as well. I asked the source and he said that they ordered new cables and they were all ready for opening day, but they didnt like the cables, so they ordered new ones from a different company.

What is this random information?

So a "Ride Associate" ( the source didnt want me to tell who he/she was) told me that before opening day, they had ordered cables for Drop Tower, but right before opening day, they had decided that they didnt like the cables. So, they decided to order new ones from a different company. So that took a long time. But yesterday, they had already replaced two out of the four cables. AND i figured out what the big whatevers did. They were the steel couplers or whatever you call them that held the cables to the catch car. (Shocks?) They were not the shocks under the gondola. But there were only two whatevers on the ground and two of them were holding cables! :) But of course, now its running, so i am a bit late on posting this.

Usually the best seat on a ride is the second to back seat. For instance, Diamondback would be 8-1 or 8-2. 8-3/8-4 rattle too much because there are wheels under them. Beast would be 8-3/8-4. Same with racer. Vortex on the other hand is not articulated the same way as the rest of the coasters, so it has a zero car on the back instead of the front, so for Vortex id say 7-3/7-4. You can usually figure it out by seeing where the wheel is.

I asked a maintenance guy who was walking around Drop Tower about it yesterday, and he said it would probably be fixed by today. And i saw someone in the ride area on the webcam just now.

^^All the ride ops from last time i was there were there and they all said the same things when i asked. Edit: And i love how the media went from 0 to 60 and then back down to 2. -Flight of Fear roller coaster is on FIRE -Flight of Fear roller coaster MIGHT BE ON FIRE -Flight of Fear roller coaster is NOT on fire but is SMOKING A LOT -Flight of Fear roller coaster had a motor that OVERHEATED and was SMOKING A LOT! -Flight of Fear roller coaster had a motor that overheated and is smoking a little. Riders were treated on scene, but nobody was hurt. Ugh. Media. But wouldn't this be a good time to replace ALL of the LIMs? If one failed, they might all be that old and need replacing. 0_o

Rode it yesterday. Smelled like smoke. Ride ops dont want you to know that there was an emergency... (me:" Wasnt there a smoking motor yesterday?" Op:" What are you talking about? Youre completly safe.")
