Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Jdm_4ever replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I see where your coming from in this post but I do agree it'd be easier just to remove DA then go through the trouble of moving it and there is no evidence for this being a giga. If it is a coaster I would much rather see a terrain coaster then a giga which would fit in nicly in rivertown. I'm sure we will get a giga but I'm not convinced it will be next year. Keep DA and put In a nice terrain coaster and I think the GP would be happy -
Oh yea I forgot about that. I didn't know if things had changed though since we can't use old souvenir cups anymore from seasons past.
-
So as I was washing my souviner cup last night I noticed that on the label it says expires on December 31st 2016. I didn't think any thing of it at first but I got to thinking if the season ends on the last weekend of October then why put on an all season souvenir cup that it is good until the end of the calender year? Out of the five years I worked in food service at the park I don't recall ever seeing an experation date on the cups. Does anybody have a logical reason behind this experation date? Could they secretly be bringing back winnerfest?
-
They were discontinued in 2010 but you could still get them if you were there for a company picnic. Idk when they brought them back or if you can buy them at any food location but they sure were money makers back in the day.

I was a Security Officer for the park last season. So I'll try to clear this up since I've never seen anyone fully describe it. That said I 100% refuse to divulge anything about how KIPD and KISD (or the park for that matter) operate for very obvious reasons! This post is just meant as a clarification because this stuff is all public information. Kings Island has a Security Department and a Police Department. The latter is composed of officers that are members of other police departments as you mentioned. The City of Mason also rotates their officers into the park to provide assistance to the KIPD. The key thing to note is that all police officers in the park or parking lot do have the authority to enforce laws and regulations in the State of Ohio. Anyways, obviously follow all rules including the park policy and parking laws in order to keep you and others safe and able to fully enjoy the day at the park. Hope this helps! I used to know alot of security guards and KI police officers from when I worked on international street. I used to go to the security office for restroom breaks and occasionally take a smoke break with then. That's the only reason I knew they were actual police officers. But did not know they could issue tickets thanks for clearing that up! I've always wondered about that I parked in 30 minute parking almost daily when I worked there and always worried about getting a ticket but only got warnings

There are Kings Island police officers. I don't know if they can issue parking tickets but they aren't rent a cops they are actual police officers from the surrounding area of Kings Island such as Mason and Maineville

I will agree with you that slices just sit under a heat lamp but if you order a whole pizza its more likely to be fresh. Not always guaranteed but more likely. And sadly when I worked there I tried to make an "authentic" larosas pepperoni pizza and got in some serious trouble. Ive also wondered why street pizza got rid of the sausage that was by far my favorit pepperoni and sausage equals amazing larosas. As for the sauce I don't know why it's so sweet everything gets ordered directly from larosas. I honestly love the sauce. -

I've wondered what this photo could mean seems like a good guess to me. Is the old photo booth still by the crypt? I think it was a photo booth?? -

I remember one year I think it was either 2010 or 11 I was a supervisor at graeters and street pizza and it the power went out on the 4th of July. Me and the other supervisor plus the supervisor of cinnabon all walked thousands of cups of water up and down international street for hours to make sure everyone around us stayed hydrated. Probably one of my fondest memories of my ki career.

I live fairly close to the Indiana border and have considered driving that way just to ride that because I've heard such great reviews -

I know it probably won't happen any time soon but I would love to see Kings Island get a wing coaster. I've never ridden one but they look very intense and thrilling. Maybe I'll get around to going to Cedar Point this year shd trying one out. My excitement was through the roof right before Banshee was announced and The Bat returns web page came to life -
In 2012 I was at street pizza and also street skyline and we actually do bring in actually employees from stores. They work there for a week and on their last day get a free good pass.

As I was a supervisor in many different food locations at Kings Island for five years I agree with you. We were always told the most important things were cleanliness and upsell. But I do hope/ think that from 09 to 12 the food and beverage department shined. Most of the supervisors from this era were older high school students to college students. We tried our best but I will say that I think alot of the problem is that you have to look at the employees most of them are high school students who need a summer job and to most of them they don't care about the job or what it entitles. I've seen it happen to many times where a kid well show up their first week and then you never see them again which leaves your stand under staffed and your management team working long days every day of the summer which in turn makes for an unhappy employee and an unhappy experience for the guest. It's no fun being at Kings Island for 14 to 16 hours a day working. I remember some nights I slept in my car in the parking lot because by the time I would get home I would only get two hours of sleep before I had to get up and do it all over again.

I ran into someone at the park who had a great explanation for what they are doing. Basically you first go through and mark the trees which are valuable and can be sold for lumber. Those are the trees which are getting the green marks. They will be cut first and hauled off. Then you come back through and just level everything that is left with heavy machinery. Once you get an idea of what is going on I felt like only the big trees were marked and it no longer felt random. That's actually a good point I didn't pay attention to the size of the trees that were marked only that they were I will have to pay more attention next time I go. -
My all time favorite was when I worked at the park my second year and I was covering a shift at stunt crew grill which is now the chicken shack and a man stopped me and asked where the Eiffel Tower was. It took everything in me not to bust out laughing.

Way too early to be thinking that. The first piece of Banshee track was installed in August. That gives them 4 months to get ready for starting to install track. If our speculation is accurate and it is a long thin coaster then they do not even need the entire path to be ready at that point in time. I do agree tho that it is way too early to rule anything out. -

Just for a roller coaster and I'm not saying it couldn't be I by no means am a coaster expert. And I also don't know what wwc looks like or if there is any evidence back there but from what I saw in the train today it looked like random trees being chopped down. But im sure there is a plan and good reason for all of it.also thank you -

Hello everyone I've been following thus forums for about seven years now and always enjoy everyone's input. I've officially decided to join in this year as I always find myself with comments back to people's post that don't make it on here. But I bought my kids Kings Island good passes today (partially because I wanted to see all of the area in speculation) and while we were there me and my two year ventured to the train where she told me that she really wanted to ride Diamondback my little girl has no fear compared to her older sisters. But while on the train I really didn't see any evidence that points to a new coaster. All I saw was some trees cut down and some not even at the base and a lot of trees with green dots on them? I don't know what this could be I would love another coaster but I'm at a loss on this one. I worked at the park for many years and my last year I was the supervisor at ice scream zone and as soon as the offseason ended and we all saw the fence up in mid march we knew it was a coaster but with this it could be anything. Also I was the very first person to experiment with Banshee twist ice cream a week before it was announced and I hated every minute of it lol such a mess. :-)
