Well, it seems that if Kings Island were to ever get another Skyride, it will not be a relocated Von Roll Type 101 (VR101) There is apparently something on the books (not sure if it’s state or federal) that prohibits these older Von Rolls from being reinstalled elsewhere other than the location they are originally installed. They have been grandfathered in. They are considered safe where they are originally installed but moving them would be considered a new installation and by sheer design alone, they would not pass current code. The Skyride at the Oklahoma state fair is trying to be saved currently and this is one of the obstacles they are facing, that it can not be moved. Any good news is that Kings Island can still install a new Skyride as a company by the name of Doppelmayr is still making them. When the Skyride was at Coney Island, it was substantially tall, about 95’ at its tallest middle tower. However, the landscaping was so manicured it could be readily seen up and down the mall. Coney Island had the push up-shaped ginkgo trees that didn’t provide any shade and were mostly ornamental. So the trade off of A Skyride to maintain that Coney Island feel would include losing the trees as we know them. I dunno- Delta Flyer/Eagle’s Flight has operated safely at CGA for 46 years and Cedar Point’s has operated safely for 60 years It will never be an attraction to pull in guests. It does have a purpose to fill at the park though. It’s either this or parts for Cedar Point Skyride Or just entirely scrapped. Time will tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh I’m sure if they DID install CGA’s Skyride at Kings Island, using the original path, a complete redo of Planet Snoopy would likely take place. I see it transforming into Camp Snoopy like at other Cedar Fair parks. The Skyride station, as you know, is currently Snoopy Boutique, so they’d be down a gift shop unless they decide to move that entirely to International Street- possibly replacing Kings Island Essentials (?) The two shops on either side of the main gate are somewhat redundant with the Emporium, so I can see one of them closing and being consolidated with the other. Seeing the Snoopy Boutique RIGHT before you exit would definitely help with merchandise sales. Woodstock Whirlybirds is, indeed, too close. It could be relocated with the transformation of Planet Snoopy to Camp Snoopy. It’s been quite a while since the area was COMPLETELY redone. With the addition of the Skyride, it would be perfect timing to do the entire area. That station (Planet Snoopy formerly Happy Land of Hanna Barbera) was originally the tension station, where a huge concrete counterweight hung in a pit to keep tension on the cable, so construction at the building would be a lot more than just tearing down walls. The other construction would be the construction of a new Drive station- the station that houses the large drive motor and backup generator. This would be located where Slingshot was. If the Skyride is brought over, I do hope they fit it to the original drive station’s theme of a Swiss chalet. The only real obstacle that I see is Viking Fury. The Skyride would pass directly over Viking Fury as it currently stands and I am not sure as to the height clearances. BUT- that could be relocated with a complete revamping of Oktoberfest. This has long been requested by guests and Kings Island enthusiasts. Perhaps we will also get CGA’s Berserker (Bayern Kurve) and even Centrifuge could easily have it’s ride vehicles replaced with barrels as a spiritual successor to Der Spinnen Keggers with an Oktoberfest revamping. The possibilities are endless if a little practicality and logic is used. Delta Flyer/Eagle’s Flight is a true gem and would be a much welcomed respite from walking. The park was originally planned as a wagon wheel, the Eiffel Tower being the center and the areas branching off from there. However if you look at where the most popular attractions are, the main pathway between them makes an “A” shape. The Skyride would serve as the line in the middle. The Eiffel Tower being a dot in the middle of that line. On the left / would be Invertigo, Banshee, Delerium, Adventure Express, Orion, The Racer and The Bat. On the right \ would be Planet Snoopy, Mystic Timbers, KI & MVRR, White Water Canyon, access from the dry park to Soak City and Diamondback. The top tip of the “A” is The Beast/ Whatever Vortex’s replacement is. To walk between the left / and the right \ is no small walk. A Skyride would quickly transport people to the other side. Tired guests don’t spend as much. And that is my rough draft thesis of a Skyride returning to Kings Island [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Absolutely. Generally speaking, Cedar Fair is a somewhat conservative company in that they don’t make many big risks very often. I love the idea of relocating the park. That, however is now up to Prologis. I’m making plans to finally visit CGA. I’ve only wanted to visit since I was nine, some 26 years ago I think CGA will see increased attendance now that it has been announced. This was a calculated move on Cedar Fair’s part- announce the closure (anywhere from 2-11 years from now) and drum up some business. Create some urgency to visit the park. I like the idea of RailBlazer going to Kings Dominion. I’m sure Valleyfair, Worlds of Fun and Michigan’s Adventure would love to have it but they’ve been so neglected that it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re passed over with RailBlazer. I think Cedar Fair should invest into them with a modest but solid new addition and monitor that response to see if attendance spikes any amount. That’ll give a better way to gauge how these parks should be invested in the future. It’s been so long since they’ve been invested in that I’m not sure if CF has any reality on HOW to do it. A relocated coaster as a major addition is a slap in the face though. As far as I’m concerned, CF needs to start investing in those parks or pull the plug and end the misery by selling them to another operator- either a large one or independent one. The land Goldstriker is on is pretty flat so I wouldn’t say a terrain coaster-It is a wooden coaster though. However it doesn’t hold any historical significance. Those are typically the wooden coasters we see saved. The value leftover from Goldstriker would be the wood and definitely the trains and mechanics of the attraction Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don’t believe so. From what I’ve read, Kings Island’s original Skyride was roughly 90/95 feet From pictures and POV videos of Delta Flyer/Eagle’s Flight, the towers appear to be roughly 50-60 feet tall But- I’m okay with that The 1977 incident with the Skyride is evidence enough that mayyyyybe it would have helped to evacuate everyone if the towers weren’t so tall Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
