Actually, when I think of a dark ride anymore, the first thing that pops into my mind is something like the Indiana Jones ride out at Disneyland in California. It's the best dark ride I've ever ridden. I haven't ridden the Spiderman ride down at Universal Studio IOA, so I can't compair them. But that is the next generation of dark ride. Fast and fun. I don't think they have to be slow and all about going through a few rooms of scenes anymore. The new dark rides can be just as fun and unexpected as a rollercoaster.

I know MGM bought some of the rights to a lot of movies, including Raiders. In fact on Paramount's site they state that the majority of sound films made by Paramount before 1950 were purchased by MGM. I wonder if they got a hand in some of those others that are in the Great Movie Ride there. In any case, I would rather Paramount do a ride showcasing only their movies. And I mean the good ones unlike other movies *coughtombraidercough*

From their website here's a small list of movies they could display scenes or clips from: The Ten Commandments, White Christmas, Shane, Psycho, Romeo and Juliet, True Grit, The Godfather films, Ordinary People, Reds, Terms of Endearment, Saturday Night Fever, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Beverly Hills Cop, Ghost, The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, the Star Trek movies, Indecent Proposal, Forrest Gump, Braveheart, Mission Impossible, Waynes World, The Addams Family and Titanic.

New Concept Survey for 2006 & 2007

I'd rather see a vampire than nothing in 06. -
They could always do something like MGM Studios has with their Great Movie Ride where you ride through scenes from multiple famous movies by the studio. I think that'd be neat. I love the MGM one, and if Paramount could do something like that, though they don't have nearly as many classics as MGM, they might be able to boost people's appreciation for their history.

Need a good 3d program for KI coaster creation
LongLiveTheSmurfRide replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Kings Island
What's wrong with using No Limits? You can make a 3D coaster design with it and take pictures and whatnot. -
New Concept Survey for 2006 & 2007

I'm not a member of the brains behind PKI by any means, but I would think they'd look down on the idea of having 2 Top Gun rides. That said I'd most definately prefer a fast, smooth, and longer than 50 second B&M coaster to the Top Gun we have now. Even if it's a Raptor or Batman clone, I think it'd be much better. I like the Top Gun we have now, but it's really not a coaster on my "I must ride this" list when I go to PKI. Secondly, I think it'd make sense to use the already existing Top Gun theming they have set up for the new coaster. Sure it needs cleaned up, and they could add a little something here and there. But they have this outrageously long queue line. They might as well have a coaster worthy of such a long wait/walk. I don't really want them to tear it down, but if they were really wanting to make it an updated Top Gun ride, the old one would have to go. Or they could make a brand new coaster based on Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and this whole problem would never surface. -
New Concept Survey for 2006 & 2007

It would be pretty sweet for them to take the current Top Gun coaster out and replace it with that B&M. They could use the naturally hilly land and make it a pretty sweet terrain invert. I know I put that as my #1. -
Yeah, I'm no expert on who holds what rights and all that, but I always wondered why we don't have an Indiana Jones anything at PKI. I mean, it's a Paramount movie. Disney's got that super great dark ride and equally awesome stunt show, and they're not Paramount. I'm assuming they must have gotten the rights from someplace to do it. I wonder why PKI can't grab us an Indianajones treat. I'd want something more than just a 3D ride. I mean, those can be okay, but the Indiana Jones movies are among my favorites, and I'd want something extra special for those. I always thought a cool FX Theater show would be something with Star Trek. Like put us in one of their little transport shuttles during a one on seven battle with Klingons or the Borg or something. Anyway, my two cents.

I'm with you guys on Q-TV. I don't know how many times I saw the Spice Girls "If you wanna be my lover" video last year. I like the guitar playing cats though. That was kind of funny. It's really not so much the content of Q-TV (though I am by no means a Spice Girls or Kid Rock fan) but I think whatever loop they run it on needs to be longer. It's almost like being in line for FoF ALL DAY LONG when you see the same content over and over and over in different queues. I liked it back when they had those public domain Heckle and Jeckle and Mighty Mouse cartoons on Q-TV. And Dr. Katz clips.

I've got some pictures from us (brothers and I) at Kings Island in the early 80's when I was little. Well, my mom has most of them anyway. I don't know if they show anything truly special. The rides I can think of that I'm riding in them off hand are still there, though painted and themed differently. Like the flying things at Hanna Barbara Land which I believe used to be themed to the Jetsons, not sure if they still are now. And I have a couple of me riding that little ride tucked in the back where it's just some seats that are moved in a line then flung around a turn then down the line on the otherside and flung around again. Have no idea what that one is called, if it even has a name.

I bet you can't guess what I'd like to ride when I get there. I would like to see some pictures of the Enchanted Voyage before the Smurfs moved in there. My parents say that I rode it when I was little but it was taken out when I was 3, so I totally don't remember it. I was in the Smurf generation.

And chances are, you wouldn't be able to bring a guest. So make a buddy with a passholder!
-
I don't think PKI is quite to the capacity of a Disney park yet. So they don't need a fastpass system. Though there are huge lines on Saturdays, most days they are manageable. I don't think they'd need a completely new system that they would only need to be implemented on certain days. I like what they are doing for Gold passholders though. I mean, we know what it's like on Saturdays, so why should we bother to go. With the walkon weekends, we have a nice little advantage, so we can go there and spend more money on food and games. Good times for everybody!

I feel for ya Jasper. Last ride I had on it was last summer with my little sister. She thought I was going to kill her how high we were going. Next to The Beast and now Delirium the Eagles were one of my favorite rides at PKI. They were the best Eagles I've ever been on. Holiday World has one, but the wires are too spread apart and it's not as large, so you don't get that high flyin'/snappin' action. It really was one of PKI's best flat rides. They really don't have enough flats as it is, didn't make sense to me to lose another one. Oh well. They'd better turn it into a darn good queue entrance.

After my last couple of trips, I've found that the backwards racer is actually pretty bumpy sometimes at the bottom of the first 2 hills. By "bumpy" I mean that my back was quickly being shaken and slammed against the seat. It didn't happen everytime, and I'm not sure where I was but I think the area I was in had something to do with it, but it does happen. My little sister complained a little about it, though I shrugged her off saying it's just because it's wooden and it's supposed to be bumpy. I think it has more to do with age than anything. It's a really old coaster, so it's got to show its age sometime. Still one of the best in the park though.

Maybe you got a part of your shirt caught in it when you buckled it and that made it come undone or something. I'd think that if it was a faulty buckle, more people would eventually have that problem and it would get fixed. I hope so anyway.
-
Zinga in action is much cooler than just pictures. At Holiday world they have a raised platform so you can see the people come flying out of the side and into the huge funnel. I hope PKI is planning on doing that too. It's great just watching that.

I never really liked Phantom Theater. In my opinion it was just a bad rip-off of the Haunted Mansion at Disney World. I always assumed that since PT was built almost 20 years after the Haunted Mansion, it should have newer and better effects. That just wasn't the case. The Haunted Mansion still blows it away. I rode PT mainly to sit back and have a relaxing ride, but it just never clicked for me as a very good dark ride. I've haven't ridden the new Scooby ride, but I hope it's better than PT. I guess I'll find out in November.

Actually, Holiday World has announced that they've cut all enthusiast activities for 2004 because of the increasing number of problems with riders and ignoring the rules of the park. It's a shame too. Too often enthusiasts think that since they visit a park a million times a year and ride the coasters over and over, that they somehow have an understanding of how the ride works and can play with the rules and still be safe. That girl who died at Holiday World seemed to think that way, and it's too bad that something like that had to happen to open up peoples eyes to how important it is to follow the rules. I went to Cedar Point over the weekend and found that the ride ops were much more prone to stapling the lap bars and checking that seat belts were connected than I'd ever witnessed before. Seems that everyone is trying to make the most of that deadly warning.

There's a haunted house in the Festhaus? Is the rest of the Festhaus still open for food? And will Spongebob still be playing on one side of the theater?
-
Is there still going to be a wave pool? That new pool with the waterfalls seems to be more about relaxing than anything else. Is it the wave pool's replacement? Also, when they say "less concrete" do they mean everything will be closer together so, in effect, less walking on concrete, or are they going to have some new surfaces, like sand, around the waterpark?

Okay, so I haven't checked this forum for quite a few months and it looks like something happened and you closed it for some time over this season. So I've been looking around the forums trying to find a review of Delirium, probably were tons of them at the begining of the season, but I can't seem to find them now. So, I just want to know how is it? Are there long waits for it? Is it worth a long wait? Does the line move quickly? I ask this because I'll be going to the park for the first time this year on its last weekend of operation to the GP, so I just want to know what to expect. I'm assuming we'll probably try Scooby's new thing first since HB Land will be closing earlier because of Fear Fest. This will also be my first trip to Fear Fest since in the past I've never gone because I hated the idea of paying extra when I had a season pass. Anyone got any ratings on what's the scariest haunted attraction and whatnot? So a lot of firsts for me this November. I'm sure someone can enlighten me. Thanks!

From what I understand, there is nothing different about the 3D side of FX Theater's screen. They use two projectors on that side to get the 3D effect. But the other side of FX Theater that showed Meteor Attack last year is still the same as it always was, so it should be able to play older movies if they are still around.

Action Theater isn't themed to racing, it's themed to action movies. That's why they have pictures of action sequences from movies like Star Trek and Titanic in the queue line. I still don't understand why they haven't put a Star Trek adventure thing in Action Theater. It seems like the easiest action ride to make. You put the camera in the deck of the Enterprise just when they are put under attack by Klingons. I mean, it seems so easy and that it would be super cool, but instead they've put stuff like Meteor Attack in there!
