  1. Most belts have these metal things called buckles. I have never gone through security in any high security area without being asked to remove my belt (and dress shoes). And I'm probably in those areas far more often than most. The day I have to take my belt off to get into Kings Island, is probably the day I find somewhere else to spend my money. Absurd! And yes, I'll take my chances, thanks.
  2. I've not seen Vortex or Diamondback tested yet. Maybe I've just missed Vortex, but The Bat was testing earlier this past week.
  3. Still haven't added FunPix to our passes for this year...yet. I suspect I will add it, at which point our family will be taking them up on those pictures about every time we go. It's not atypical for my wife to haul around our camera inside the park. Drives me nuts. No more, I hope.
  4. When you're stalking the webcams, waiting and watching for the park to start testing the rides for upcoming season. Saw them putting the BLSC thru some paces this morning. The white train, on one of its runs, did not make it up the top of the helix hill, and actually rolled back down from where it came. First time I'd ever seen that happen!
  5. I think a really good argument could be made that rather than being overly critical of the young folks making our food (some criticism deserved, no doubt), the bulk of the issue is management of the food service at KI. Who is in charge? And how much money are they costing the park in lost sales?
  6. Fast Lane link is back on the website, with the ride lineups for Fast Lane/Fast Lane Plus.
  7. I don't follow "the industry" so much. Are there any crazy-high-speed launch coasters being built anywhere? I think one of those could be pretty unique and exciting for KI. I've enjoyed the few much-slower-speed launch coasters I've ridden on.
  8. I'm guessing those pictures would be completely unrecognizable, honestly. I'd still like to see them too, nevertheless, but...that was a long, long time ago.
  9. Dudette Perfect has yet to take off on youtube...lol...but it might if it went to KI!
  10. Dude Perfect...Kings Island edition. :-)
  11. Attempted murder, anyone? Basketballs and coasters have intermixed at the park for a long time now. Still won't be surprised to see nets, but if not it really shouldn't matter. Could the bars or whatever they are that lean at a ~45-degree-angle against the goal assembly be there for some netting maybe? Not sure why they are there otherwise.
  12. Attempted murder, anyone? Basketballs and coasters have intermixed at the park for a long time now. Still won't be surprised to see nets, but if not it really shouldn't matter.
  13. I don't understand why they've cleared such a large spot, and smoothed it out---even if it is dirt from, wherever. They're putting an awful lot of work into it, even if it's not for some big coaster.
  14. Has anyone here won one of those big ole lawn/camping chairs that you win on the rope-ladder game? I really want one of those.
  15. That's so funny...lol. Clearly the basketball games are raking in the money. They don't bother me? I feel like they should reading all the posts about basketballs on this forum, but all my times in the park...they don't bother me. What am I missing?
  16. I get it. Really, I do. I want KI to make smoking sections reasonably available, but if that is in a back-alley I get it. I do. I'm not a proud smoker...I'm just a smoker. :-(
  17. I'm sorry you have to tolerate folks like me. But I like to think the park appreciates my business. I buy almost everything they offer up. x5
  18. Personally, I'm far more concerned about all the people farting in line around me...but that's just me.
  19. Well, the old smoking section was right under the first drop, so...
  20. I still think the new smoking section is behind the basketball game, but I could be wrong. Sadly, I am a smoker, and the area I see on the webcams looks like my new spot to watch Diamondback when taking a "break".
  21. Yeah, it certainly looks like a basketball game to me! :-) I bet they put netting up somewhere, but mostly to protect the folks down below. The thought of someone throwing a basketball at the coaster...yikes. Could have happened before I guess if you think about it. It'd be pretty hard to hit your mark with a basketball I think but that's a one-way ticket to some serious time in the "slammer" regardless of what you're throwing.
  22. The backboards are easily interchanged with bolts more or less. You could change those weekly...it's that easy. I'm no expert by any means, but I have put in a goal at home many years ago. The pole has a big square metal piece welded onto it, with holes for the bolts that mount the backboard. KI might use a slightly different setup, but the basic concept has to be the same.
  23. Ideally you WOULD put the goals in before putting in the concrete foundation in front of it. Otherwise, you risk tearing up the foundation when you put in the goals. Just sayin'.
  24. I'm sure I don't know what they're doing, but seeing as the new funnel cake stand is going right next to where the smoking section under Diamondback was...could they just be clearing out a spot for smokers to sit? Not very exciting to some, but you don't want the smokers right by the new food stand either.
  25. Is this on the side where the smoking section used to be, or is it on the helix side?
