Lol okay.
-
I said this a couple of days ago, but I was vehemently against wearing a mask at KI...and then the protests happened and more and more science is coming out showing outdoor activities with masks may be safe, and now I don't think I'd go without them having the rule in place.
-
Agreed. If you're not doing this after every single ride, it's completely pointless.
-
I believe around 10-11am. I was traveling at the time, saw it when I was settling into my hotel (around 4pm) and the post had been up for "5 hours" according to Facebook.
-
Hence why I said "at best". It's likely much, much lower.
-
I'm well aware of how to wear a mask. I've worn one in public every day for the last 3+ months. But being completely realistic? I'd say at best half of the people that attend will wear it correctly.
-
So we should just not bother at all because of the actions of others? Even if 50% of people are properly wearing a mask, I'll take that over 0%.
-
Sigh. All of your information is outdated by about 3 months. Masks are difference makers, even when it's cloth masks. It's literally proven at this point.
-
It is, though. Sure, people don't *need* to put a photo of themselves on social media - but who cares if they do? At least they're wearing one. Right, I'm not disputing that at all. I'm stating that the rate of hospitalization ultimately doesn't determine whether or not you're less or more likely to actually contract the disease yourself. I think we're on the same page and may not necessarily realize it.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said he has not ruled out another shutdown in the state, telling CNN's Poppy Harlow that officials have "some tools that we need to use first." The governor noted that despite overall cases going down and hospitalizations hitting a plateau, the state saw a spike yesterday in Southwest Ohio – near the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. De Wine said they are watching those spikes "over the next few days." "We're moving in with a lot more testing and a lot more tracing. So that's a tool that we have. The other tool we have is the ability for me and the mayors and the health directors to communicate to people in the areas where we're starting to see a rise. And those counties where I talked about, we're starting to see a rise. So we have to communicate that to people so they can make the right decision and that is to be careful," DeWine said.

What an absurd take. It's not about "virtue signaling", it's about complying with the recommendations from the CDC, the WHO, and literally every infectious disease expert. Good lord.
-
That's where I would look at the number of infections in the area, community spread rate, etc. Admittedly, even THAT isn't perfect, though, because it's not as though all - or even most of - the people there will be from Warren County. In short...there's no real perfect science to it.
-
Right, I don't dispute that...which is why I say that hospitalizations don't really matter much, in terms of risk assessment.
-
The only trouble is - how do you know you would or wouldn't be hospitalized, if you did have it? That likelihood for each individual person varies, no matter how many others are admitted. Put it this way - whether there's 10 hospitalized or 1,000, that doesn't influence your particular chances of being hospitalized.
-
...you're not going to have a good time at the park, if you go this year, I'm afraid
-
For me as a visitor to Kings Island, no, it isn't. I'd rather feel somewhat safe in knowing I won't catch it at all, rather than "oh I might catch it and also may or may not be hospitalized." To determine how impactful the disease is - yes, you're right. But I don't think people are looking at hospitalizations to determine if they're going to go to KI, nor should they.
-
This is what I've been wondering re: any virtual queue - how they'd actually prevent people from just lining up at their times. It's why I don't necessarily think it's any more effective than standard queues.
-
That's extremely concerning. I may rethink my entire plan for KI based on this. EDIT: It's actually a little misleading. If you look at the breakdown here - - cases appear to have peaked on June 8, and have since sharply declined. It's worth keeping an eye on...but calling it an ongoing hot spot might be a little misleading, based on the raw data.
-
I just want it to be an option for the ice cream.
-
Looks like the app is testing mobile orders for the restaurants in the park. Currently showing Coconut Cove Cafe and Hank's Mexican Grill with a couple of test items for each.
-
Hmm. There doesn't seem to be nearly as many as I'd expect. I can imagine those getting crowded quickly. Maybe it's just because it's a smaller park.
-
Thanks! I must have glossed over that.
-
Their website states that they expect all attractions to be open. I posted that section above. I haven't seen any evidence of rest areas, or of any stated policies for removing masks? Where did you see these things?
-
I'm assuming maybe it's because KI will ultimately be open for passholders only longer than WOF is? Just received an email from KI directing me to the link you provided. At the bottom it mentions the reservation email will be coming "VERY soon".
-
Here's something new that's different from the WOF info: Are all rides and attractions at Kings Island open? We anticipate all rides and attractions will be open. Please refer to signage prior to entering the park for a list of rides that may not open on the day of your visit.
