Other dining notes: Canada wonderland had 4 subway locations. Only 1 was included on Dining plan, and only these options pictured. In this case… I’d say they should get rid of subway… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Canadas wonderland Amazing brisket. Served with chili churri sauce, cornbread muffin, and a side. Super lean (no fat) and so tender. I got this for 4 of my 5 meals there and was not sad. Shown with vegetable medley, which was also great and didn’t taste like it was previously frozen. They also had a Korean BBQ chicken half that was very good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Canadas wonderland was the best food option. Most variety on the plan. And great execution. Here’s the menu at backlot cafe. Pizzas here were made to order and very fresh. Spaghetti and meatballs were generous portion. Taco bowls didn’t look good… but we were pretty far from Mexico Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dorneys food was meh. Only think I thought this group would appreciate is that subway is still there and you can choose either chips or 2 fresh baked cookies. After heavy eating, it was refreshing to get a few subs instead of other meals. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2 years ago you could get guacamole and queso on a bowl or burrito for no charge. Last year you could choose one or the other, but not both for no added charge. This year, both are an upcharge and not included. I agree that the meat and pork both lack flavor. And now that guacamole isn’t an option, it’s really bland. For reference. This was the “salad” option at the Carowinds version this week. Not only was the shell great, but the meat had tons of flavor, there was tons of fresh pico de gallo, and guacamole is usually available, although yet were out when I was there. This phantom theater show overstayed its life part way through last year. I really hope it doesn’t get a third year and my entire family was disappointed when we learned it was back this year. If you didn’t grow up on the original ride, it has no nostalgic value. And as a whole it isn’t nearly as entertaining as the last handful of cirque shows (which we used to watch multiple times a year). I’m hopeful that maybe this year the magician will actually do a magic show… or the stunt guy will do some legitimately entertaining stunts… or they can just write out the opera singer… but for my family, the show was a major flop. We had 100 visits last year…. And we saw the show once… and even on the hot days, my family would rather leave than sit in the A/C and watch this show. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My guess is that they are turning it into more like the other la Rosa locations, or fest haus. Where you will enter, grab your own food from a counter, then pay. Which I assume they would do to minimize the staging needed (Vs previously they had industrial people take your order and payment, and others fulfilling orders. Should result in faster food, assuming they have enough check out cashiers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Final California’s Great America food post. Despite many locations closing their subways (including KI). Theirs was open. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dinner (at California’s Great America): Burrito bowl concept like Enrique’s. They didn’t have fajita veggies, but instead had the same mixed veggies from my lunch. They worked but KI fajita veggies are better. Where their bowls were better than Enrique was the flavoring of the meats. I got Al pastor (pineapple pork) which had way better flavor than the carnitas (or any of the meats) at Enrique’s… granted we’re in California. Also, their bowls included guacamole as a topping option and a side of chips (again, avocados in California are a lot cheaper than here) Overall we’re very lucky to have a vast offering of food options at KI, many of which done at a very high quality. Other than these two examples, everything else I saw there was typical… burgers, tenders, pizza… although they did have a lot of specialty hot dog options that looked unique… but they were still hot dogs. Admittedly this isn’t about KI. I thought about doing a trip report, but thought this group/thread might be interested socially in my dining experience at California’s Great America yesterday. Lunch: I had an artisan turkey sandwich. Bread was fresh. The dried tomatoes on top were nice (I tossed them in and are with sandwich). Sandwiches were premade, so no option to customize, but that also enabled them to be handed out quickly. I think this (either as premade for fast lines or as a build) would be a great concept for a new restaurant in the former subway locations at KI. Side options were fries, Mac & cheese, or mixed veggies… Which made for what felt like a healthy option. I should have grabbed a photo, but Tom and Chee in the old chick fil a location looks no where close to ready to open. The sign just says “Coming”… The menu board are up (two dining plan options are unchanged), but the interior looks completely bare. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Confirmed. Subway is gone. Off the app/map sign is down. Personally I’d like a KI sandwich equivalent to go there. Especially in the water park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know it’s an unpopular opinion. But phantom encore was a disappointment. Maybe they could tweak it this year and the magician could actually do a magic show… or the stunt man could do acrobatic feats or actual stunts. But compared to cirque shows, it was pretty meh. Especially if you had no nostalgic tie to phantom theater. (Ie kids) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Technically 3… if you count her subway in the water park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Beef Wellington burger was not great. 2 low quality burger patties, mushrooms, spinach, and Swiss in a Wellington type of roll. It’s premade, so you can’t customize. There’s a reason they don’t describe what is in it on the menu. Chicken and dumplings: I have yet to see a dumpling in it. It’s basically a chicken stroganoff or stew. Coney Turkey was good. But still on the hunt for something to get excited about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
