loginmike
We got to the water park just as they were opening for everone. Decided to ride all the rides before we moved on to the park. It did not take long to hit them all except for the lazy river or whatever they call it, and the surfing thing. Of course I had to make a pit stop to cut the rivets off of my trunks. Oops, forgot about that one. We played in the wave pool for a while. My kids really enjoy the special areas for them. I was pretty impressed with how much there is for smaller ones to do. The skies started to darken so our group decided it was time to head to the parking lot to have lunch while it rained. We wanted to save money for lunch so that it would not hurt so bad when we had dinner in the park. After lunch we went through the main gates and I was quite annoyed with the security guy there. I am a Bengals fan and was wearing Bengals shirt. The guy says "You can't come through here" I replied "Why not" and he said "I am a Steelers fan and no Bengals can come through" I like teasing one another about sports and what not, no problem. But this guy, or I think I should say "kid" would not let it go, just heckling me about how great the Steelers were and how bad the Bengals were. I had to listen to the crap the whole time he looked through my backpack. Trust me, I understand that working in the sun on your feet all day dealing with gobs of people everyday, isn't always a glorious job. But also let me say that if my children were not at my sides I would not have been nearly as polite as I was to this person. I really was not in the mood to argue about opinions and stats, I had better things to do. Okay, enough about that. After we got our speed pass tickets we did our normal ritual of starting the day in the park with a trip up the tower. Man that never gets old. The main thing we wanted to do for the day was ride Firehawk and S.O.B. It was my 6th trip this year and I still had not rode it or S.O.B. We usually go and spend the majority of the day letting the kids ride. No S.O.B. so we headed for Firehawk. I was not expecting the "you must put your stuff in the locker" scam. Any idea why they could not find a way to store your things like all the other rides? Just another way to suck the money out of your pocket. The wait to get on definitly could be enhanced by covering that area completely. It takes quite a bit out of you after waiting an hour in the sun. It did not take away from the ride itself though. What a sweet ride. I loved it. Super smooth. I only wish that I would have got the front seat, it probably would have been even better. We did sponge bob movie, Italian Job, Beast (always a good ride) it was actually busier than it had been recently. (Of course I had to direct a lost group that was within teen feet of the entrance to where The Beast is) You have to love speed lane even though I still feel bad walking past all those people. We then did the Thornberry ride. darn elephant. We then ate at the Wings Diner. It is expensive but actually compared to the rest of the places to eat it has it's benefits also. The food was very good and they had a lot a variety that suited the group we had. The rest of the night we let the kids do their thing as we tried to let our dinner settle. The bad thing about the all you can eat concept is you tend to eat too much. I think we were all guilty. We left about 9:00 and everyone was pretty worn out. The kids never want to leave so we end that with "We will be back in a few days". We had a great time. I hope I did not write too much. welchce
Of course I had to make a pit stop to cut the rivets off of my trunks. Oops, forgot about that one. I wanna know how many people go to Boomerang Bay, have rivets, but don't cut them out. I've done it with my suit but it seems like there's at least 3 people every time I go up Down Under Thunder that have to walk back down the stairs because of them. Maybe that's their only time to go to a water park all year and they don't see the benefit of defacing their trunks whereas I see it as there's no way little metal things are gonna keep me from having fun. We played in the wave pool for a while. My kids really enjoy the special areas for them. I was pretty impressed with how much there is for smaller ones to do. They do have quite a lot for little kids. They have Kangaroo Lagoon, Koala Splash, Wallaby Wharf, and Jackeroo Landing which are all kiddie areas. While it is impressive how much there is for smaller ones to do, I feel it's rather unimpressive how not that much there is for bigger people to do. Maybe it just bothers me that you have to walk all the way across the entire park over to the wave pool to get a spot for your stuff but the only thing to do over there besides the wave pool is the Tasmanian Typhoon. In order to do anything else, you have to walk back to the other side of the park past all four kid areas as well as a random vacant patch of land to get to the slides. Hopefully sometime soon they'll put something in that area to make it seem more connected and less of a walk. I was not expecting the "you must put your stuff in the locker" scam. Any idea why they could not find a way to store your things like all the other rides? Just another way to suck the money out of your pocket. What a sweet ride. I loved it. Super smooth. I only wish that I would have got the front seat, it probably would have been even better. I'm guessing the reason that they don't have places for you to put your stuff in the station is because the station doesn't have much free room and they don't let anything on that's not in cargo pockets. If stuff was piled everywhere, it would make it that much harder and slower to load and it's already a rather slow moving loading process with having all the restraints and then having to lower the trains down and raise them back up. I wouldn't really call 75 cents sucking money out of your pocket whereas they do a lot of other things that do. I love how at Tomb Raider they have perfectly good pouches right in front of every seat yet they still put lockers out front. That, along with drink prices, are sucking your money. I paid it the first time for because I wasn't wearing cargo shorts but from now on I've been bringing as few things with me as possible and putting them in my pockets. But yeah, pretty much everyone on here agrees that the waiting area should be covered better. And the front is pretty awesome. That's one of the few coasters where I prefer the front to the back since you can see the track and not the car in front of you to further the idea that you're flying. We then did the Thornberry ride. darn elephant. Nuff sed We had a great time. I hope I did not write too much. Good report, it wasn't too long. Glad to hear everyone had a great time. On most of the major recent additions at CP like TTD and MF they make you put your stuff in a locker before riding and up there its no very cheap at all, i believe its 2 dollars, luckily at KI its only 75 cents. However on CP's newest ride: Maverick, they have bins like on the other rides and no lockers are needed so maybe theyre getting out of the locker scam phase. Great TR, not too long at all, its nice to be seeing mroe TR's on here about families with kids. I love how at Tomb Raider they have perfectly good pouches right in front of every seat yet they still put lockers out front. That, along with drink prices, are sucking your money. The lockers were put there before the pouches were in place and if you bring a bag, stuffed animal, or basketball in you can hand it to a ride op. and pick up at the rendezvous point. The lockers at CP are $1, and they're not a scam...for MF and TTD you unload at a different section than when you get on, so storage bins are not an option. And you load and unload at different places to increase capacity and decrease the amount of time you spend in line, so the lockers are actually of benefit to you...similar reasons for Firehawk as well....
