Drop Zone As A Giant Drop or Gyro Drop?

Does anybody else feel that Drop Zone should have been a Giant Drop instead of a Gyro Drop? Giant Drops offer a more stomach-in-your-throat experience than Gyro Drops do. I still love Drop Zone, but it would have been awesome if Paramount had purchased Drop Zone as a Giant Drop rather than a Gyro Drop. Does anybody else feel the same way?

A Giant Drop is what Drop Zone is at, Carowinds, Great America, and Canada's Wonderland. We got the Gyro Drop, but lately it's been the non Gyro Drop. I like when DZ will spin on the way up, and if we got a Giant Drop it probably wouldn't have been as big as our DZ is now.

Not the only. We also have a ring of seats, while the Giant drop has, 4 or 5 cars of seats. Six Flags KK drop ride is a Giant Drop.

o.k. if that is the case i am glad that it is a gyro drop one for capasity and two for the view you get insted of being fixed in one direction

Originally there we plans to have a giant drop on the stop where Flight Commander used to be but those plans changed when Paramount decided to go for the gyro drop as part of the Action Zone expansion in 1999.

The Drop Zone at KD is the perfect design. While the ride is in operation they load seat zones and by the time the ride has operated it is ready to load again. Also, since the seats are lighter, the ride raises smoothly and quickly. It would be a great asset to reconfigure ours to be like theirs.

I was at Haunt this past weekend and my friends and I decided to ride Drop Zone. Our ride operator counted down to the drop. How long has this been going on? I liked it better when you didn't know when you were going to fall.

I was just there on the 29th and the person said nothing and most likely the operator never will. Maybe he was bored and just decided to count down the drop but when i ride i am the one that lets the people 5 seats down both ways when we will drop because i will usually count down for everyone. If somebody on the site was one of those riders im sorry if i made the ride less enjoyable

Another thing from the 29th, altough off topic, I was on Shake, Rattle, and Roll with my friend and while we were loading i noticed DZ was at the top and would drop soon but after 10 seconds it hadnt dropped! It got stuck at the top for about 5 minutes but then started coming down slowly still attached to the catch car.
