ssdd1970
Are the gold passes used to get right on the ride without wait and ride again. Someone please refresh my memory please.
Aves
You don't get right on the ride, you use the Gold Pass Speed Lane. And you can have Double Ride Tusedays. As of Last Year.
The Interpreter
Which brings up a point not previously mentioned here. During Tuesday's conference call, an analyst asked Mr. Kinzel about Qbots. Mr. Kinzel at first misunderstood the question, thinking it referred to Cedar Point's VIP program. Then, after someone told him what was being asked, Mr. Kinzel indicated that the company is studying the implementation of such a program, and will do so if it in the best interests of the company and the guest experience. That would be great! Aint nothin' like walking right up and getting on a ride when the wait is 60mins or more
Aves
What are Qbots?
The Interpreter
A premium line reservation system. Most parks that have them have two systems. For about $15 a person, your reservation is for about the same time as those who have to wait in line. For much, much more, you can get a gold qbot, and your reservation is almost immediate. All these prices are in addition to admission. As in most things, Dollywood is far more reasonable with their pricing than most parks. Disney's Fast Pass system is similar, but included with park admission.
Aves
That's cool. We should get one of those!
The Interpreter
Really? Realize if you do not get one on busy days, you will watch group after group of guests get in line in front of you while you wait and wait and wait. It is not unusual to see what would normally be a two hour line extended to four or five hours for non-Qbotted guests in parks where those things are installed. I see QBots as a sneaky way to reintroduce pay by the ride systems, in reality. On busy days, if you don't buy a QBot in parks that offer them, your experience will be miserable, to say the least. KDCOASTERFAN
For the love of humanity no!!!!! It's because of paid line jumping systems such as flashpass at six flags that I quit going this season, due in part to the fact that instead of letting two people per train on in the assigned row like they were supposed to they were allowing whole trainloads on the ride at once! I recall an incident that happened at Two Face back in june in which the ops loaded about half the train with flashpassers & DID NOT even bother to open the gates to let the rest of us on the ride when clearly the front(where I was waiting) & back rows were empty. IIRC KD had a similar paid line jumping system back in 01(right around the same time that SFA introduced fastlane, now flashpass) but they quickly abandoned it when one too many fights broke out on ride platforms over it. The Interpreter
That was a test at Kings Dominion. Jane Cooper, the then CEO of Paramount Parks, decided that it was not fair or equitable to the guests, and the test was abandoned. The queues that were built for walk-on Wednesdays were actually installed in contemplation of installing a QBot type system.
