Paying for amusement park trips

Well, I am a not-so-poor Sophomore at The University of Dayton. I barely ever buy anything for myself so I have money to spend on things when I really want them. I work at KI, so obviously I get admission to quite a few of my favorite parks. College-wise, I only pay for books and gas, and get good grades so that my mom and scholarships keep paying for my college. Lodging is actually the hardest part. My grandparents live an hour away from Cedar Point so my friends and I stay there and commute. I plan on making several day-trips this year to other parks, and we own mulitple time shares, so I get 7 nights at a condo for about $150, its quite nice, you all should look into it!

When money gets tighter, I file for a beggars license, and go perusing in Downtown Dayton! (just joking)

I don't normally save up for trips to KI, but it's an easy day trip and all I usually spend is gas money which is split between everyone in the car. We have season passes and pack food and drinks in coolers. Next season will be different as we're getting the Platinum and going to be heading to Cedar Point for a couple days... not sure how we'll pay for it yet, probably just start setting money aside a couple months beforehand. Also haven't decided where to stay, we thought about splurging and getting a really nice hotel room, but then we thought all we'll bedoing there is sleeping... I would rather spend the extra money on souvenirs.

flightoffear1996, I can say that I manage my money well, and college is still a drain on my bank account! I even have a scholarship that pays for nearly 505 of my UC tuition. The only problem is that Grad school at UC is more expensive then undergrad. And the fact that Nancy Zimpher thinks that nationally renowned programs should charge students a premium, means my tuition bills are still in the range of $2,500 per quarter, not including supplies or books! But hey, I am in the 7th best Graduate Architecture program in the country, as ranked my the magazine Design Intelligence, which just released the 2008 numbers this week.

My suggestion on planning for trips is to try and make alot of the parks in the same chain. For example, this May I'm taking a trip to KI, CP, KD, Dorney, Hershey Park, Busch Gardens Europe, and Kennywood. As you can see, the first 4 parks I listed all are owned by Cedar Fair, so getting a Maxpass will save a good deal of money.
